2014, WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE... PREDICTIONS... RUMORS.

You beat me to it with the led lights.

Why not buy the 660 and the 860 from Carl's and be done with the reliability and underpowered talk?

Because I don't want to be like Cat owners and have to spend thousands of $ in upgrades to have a lightweight reliable powerful machine that's why!

Or just long rod the 800 they already have like Indy Dan does and possibly do a little head and bore work to pump out more HP.

And figure out the TPS or what ever makes these things stumble on occasion.

Unfortunately, today's manufacturing has more input from accounting than it does from engineering. There are lots of good ideas on this thread for additions/improvements to the RMK. But costs, liability, and the EPA have a lot to do with what the customer ends up with. Instead of pumping out thousands of sleds that the marketing department thinks might sell, they could give each customer exactly what they want. With today's technologies, a multiple-model assembly line is much easier to accomplish than it was 50 years ago. Even back then, before computers, car dealers offered a long menu of single items that you could select from (2 door, 4 door, sedan, rag-top, engines, transmissions, colors, radios, tires, wheels, etc). Today, "packages" of options are all we get -take it, or leave it.
Gee. Give the customer what they want? What a novel idea.:face-icon-small-ton I'd even guess that some would pay a little extra just to have that choice. Maybe the OEM's will read this and do a "retro" production of customer choices.

Ice build up on tunnel would be #1 for me.
I look over at my buds 2013 limited pro-climb with absolutley NO ice at all on it. WOW!

Carefull what you wish for regarding cat engines. We had a 2011 M8 Nuke 3 rides ago. This last ride the 2012 in our group lost 2 belts, then lost his reeds.
So way more issues with the cats in our group then my New pro.

Also, am I missing something regarding the 2013 pro 800 reliability issues?
I haven't heard of even one nuking. Why is everyone asking polaris to fix an engine when there hasn't (to my knowledge) been an engine failure on the 2013 (stock) 800's?

Deffinitely some good ideas on here, Mountain horse touched on many areas where some simple improvements could be made very easily. Lots of the things guys are asking for though are simply preference, so my question is this, would make sense for Polaris to offer a stripped down chassis which came with the bare minimum of components allowing us to customize our sled exactly to our liking without having a garage full of spare parts that we can't use? I'm thinking along the lines of no handle bars, rear suspension, front suspension, seat, and even go as far as no engine or gear reduction. It would be interesting to see what kind of price they could sell something like this for. Nobody would be able to complain about all these trivial little things, because they are the ones responsible for installing whatever it is that they think will work for them. Can't see this ever actually happening, but I know there are lots of guys out there that would be very interested in something like this.

Eric, that is a fantastic post.

IN addition to that:

Relocate the VES oil evac line away from the clutches. Route it out the bottom of the belly pan holes under the exhaust side A-arms like many of us do before we ever fire it up the day our sled comes home.

Tip-up rails? Did we ever hear the rationale for going away from this? I rather liked the tipped-up rails.

2014 sled predictions

The chassis is still the same. Power plant has to be different. They sound a lot more throaty than the 2013's graphics for the pro are going to be black and red. I think they have powder coated rails for 2014. Other than that i dont know much else. I should have taken note of the shock package when i had the chance. I saw the 2014's while i was at Togwotee about a week ago...

I have a special hatred for those goofy Dzus fasteners on the side panels....am I the only one who can fumble with them for 15 minutes and give up just before the urge to huck the panel across the shop? Rubber snubbers or fasteners that line up and work every time would be nice.
Those things piss me off more than the driveshaft and belt!! :violin:

LOL.... We are in the 6.0 Ford dillema! Good truck bad motor!

They are using us with disposable machines, yet we keep going back?

I got an idea, how about Polaris sponsors my kids race car this year... God knows I have thrown enough cash at them over the years, give me some back POO POO.

Can you tell I'm a little burnt out?:sorry:

you sir are so false, egr and headstuds = awesome 6.0l

Apologies to those who have read this over and over but:

Give us more functionality on the MFD;

How about:
1) A basic GPS

2) Real-Time Digitally Calculated; Miles To Empty and Miles Per Gallon. This can't be impossible with all the inputs going in to the ECU, add one meter to the Oil Injection Pump and you're there.

Others;

3)Co-ordinate your P-Codes with Standard OBD-II codes and allow us to read them and tune the sled, just like all major Automotive OEM's do, and modify your warranties as such.

4) If your going to charge the price of a high performance street bike, give us the quality and dependability of one.

( Or not, we'll buy another sled or two anyway)

A catch can for the VES hose drippings. How long do you think "we" can dump Oily Waste, much less Full Synthetic Oil in all the swamplands, watersheads and headwaters in all the backcountry of our great lands.
If the three eyed frogs and cross-billed birds don't get us, the EPA, Sierra, etc will.

I doubt we will ever see standard obdII from polaris, the Victory MC line is the same, captive to digital wrench. Power Commander or the like is the only way to tune them besides the dealer. Victory riders have been begging for this for years too.

How about at least some sort of a fuel meter on the gauge.

Am I just not seeing mine or is there not one?
