2012 PRO 800 Bogging

Instead of just bypassing a safety device, why don't you adjust the throttle cable or other fix to properly address the issue?

Experiencing similar intermittent bogging issue... Figured I'd start with looking at the throttle block considering the bogging issue started the day after it was replaced by the dealer. What am I looking for to be loose or broken in the throttle block?
Thanks

Guys i know most of you hav been talking about a bog but mine will scream when pinned or sometimes even like jus off full throttle for like a 1/4 mile to 1/2 mile down a trail and around 7600-8000 rpm it will cut out and fall flat on its face to where it about launches you over the bars!!! You hav to let off the throttle and then when you pin it again it will keep cutting out around that 7600-8000 range!! Digital wrench showed 13 overheat codes when the hottest it ever got was 135 and on trail stayed at 125 all the time!!! They are checking tps, injectors, fuel pressure and changed the temp sensor amongst other things but everything shown ok!! They are waitn to hear from polaris as they are stumped on this!!

Mine is doing this exact thing but I haven't taken to the dealer for a Dwrench reading it's totally random when it will decide to do this but 90 percent of the time it's while heading down the trail. And I have noticed recently that there's no oil coming from the hose after my solenoid on Evalves. But it only seems to bog between 6-7k if you can get it to full throttle runs great 8150-8200!
Any ideas?!?!?

A dealer on HCS found that on a few sleds with this bog the fuel pickup screen was plugged. He apparently stuck a fuel pressure guage on the line and found it dropping fuel pressure and the bog time and higher in rpm's even after switching a new external filter in.
Apparently pulled the screen assembly off and replaced it with a new one on a few different sleds and the fuel pressure would stay steady with no bogs any longer.

Something else to try I have not seen anyone else talk about this but it makes sense. If the system is timed to spray x amount of fuel at 58 psi and it drops to 54 it will not spray as much fuel creating a lean bog like the old cfi 4 systems. And if the the screen is plugged then the more you try to add fuel in that area with a fuel controller the leaner it may go?

Food for thought

Now mine acts more like a rich bog cause when your feather the throttle it is worse the just a steady incline. Going to install an old digitron I have to see what the temps are actually doing during the bog.

Seth ur tellin me it's boggin in McCall even? Haha listen I have a 2011 and am going through a Bogg issue as well. It is at random times and I e tried running both plugs for eth/non eth fuel. I noticed the bog to be consistant when I go off a jump or when the skis come off the snow it falls on its face. Once on its face u can hold wot and it will not clear until u feather throttle or even just let off throttle then hammer to wot and it is clear and runs great. I've tried different fuels even some with 20-30% avgas. I have no idea what to do.

Hey bro sorry if I just gave you a thumbs down but the iPhone is awful small! And ya even in mccall the dang poo bogs! But it always seems to get worse with extreme changes like last time it did it I came down off the hill a 1000 ft or so in a small amount of time and the temp dropped super fast cause the sun was heading down. So I'm at a loss. Makes me miss carbed sleds!!!

Does your sled act like mine ----> http://youtu.be/uv1ZTrg0Qzc

??? If it does maybe we have the same probs.

My sled run exactly like that.....Those thread concerning this bog never end up to a real solution...

Facts: -this bog occur at high rpm WOT
-no ecu code
-not a throttle block issues
-fuel pressure stable t 59-60 psi
-ves very clean
-new fuel filter
-all sensor resistance tested ...according to shop manual
-new injector
-dealer check it with digital wrench (found noting)
-new spark plug cap and wires

So If someone found what is the cause of this bogging.....let me know please !!!

I have had my ves hose ice shut and my throttle block act up. Wot all good but back off just a touch and hold on cause you're goin over the bars in deep snow. Happened a couple times now on separate occasions

I re-clutched to have it shift at lower RPM's it has helped a lot. Still testing but it looks promising. I know it doesn't seem right, but all the right things didn't work. Good luck

I run the stock clutching and this set up run perfectly for the first 2 years... then the sled start to run like crap during the 3rd winter....
but I will try my dalton weight at 69 gram to see if it help....

If anyone has a Polaris Repair manual, read page 4-48, this might lead to our problems. I think maybe the exhaust valves are not opening, don't know why just yet, and holding the engine back. Just a guess right now

This is a good summary of the entire thread. I think im gonna check the fuel pickups on my 2011 SBA.

My symptoms are WOT bogs, which are worse in deep snow. By the end of the ride my machine is barely running. It also runs like crap under 6500 RPM, missing and sputtering. If I blurp the throttle I can get it over the mid range blog, but seems to run fine WOT.

Im running a RKTEK drop in kit with boyesen reeds, otherwise stock! Lots of great leads on this thread tho! thanks everyone!

My 2012 did similar bogging trick that everyone is talking about here.

Changed the weights in the clutch for higher elevations. And I had a broken clutch spring. Solved the problem.

I've heard that dirty power valves can also cause similar symptoms.

I also notice that weird running Under 6500 RPM at very lite throttle.
I test the fuel pressure while running and found no drop in pressure when the sled stard to bog....and the shredder valve is at the return line....so if the pick up is blocked I will surely see it on the pressure gaudge.
This is why I dont think the fuel pump pick up is the problem

antifreeze

I notice that my antifreeze level is slowly going down.....
I think maybe I have a leak Inside the engine.....water pump shaft ???

- Did someone heard about coolant leak in this engine....

bogging too...

Here is what mine is doing.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r9gpU7MlFqc&feature=youtube_gdata_player

I took it to the dealer and the wrench said there were over 30 "mag side injector failure" codes but none of them were current. Its like it pulled the code and then fixed itself. I am replacing the injector but i hope it fixes the problem. I hope its not a wiring problem and there is a short or something. Ill be pissed if i spend $450 bucks for no reason... Has anybody had bogging issues like mine?

Read this elsewhere so I don't know if it will help or not . Worth looking at though . This is just a copy and paste of his thread .

Issues at W.O.T.
I have a 2011 Assault that couldn't handle WOT. It would hesitate and bog until you dropped back down to 3/4 throttle and then it would clean up. I have a 2012 Assault that would occasionally do the same thing but not as bad.

I was going to upgrade the blue injectors to yellow and maybe do pistons and rings. The sled has about 4500 miles. We had already checked the exhaust valves and installed a new fuel filter.

I read something interesting and figured I'd give it a try since it was free.

I read that the connection between the spark plug caps and the plugs on these 800's is building up a tremendous amount of soot and the soot is insulating the plugs from the caps and causing misfires at high RPM.

Instructions:
1. Blow out the cap with compressed air. "Don't have your face near by"
2. With a wire brush or any abrasive clean the clip on the inside of the cap.
3. Gap new plugs to .018. They say the stock gap is too much.
4. Apply a light coat of dielectric grease to the top of the plug
5. Verify that the plug wires are properly seated in the coils and caps.

I did this and to my amazement the sled ran like a beast. Burnt 3/4 of a tank of gas in both sleds. Took many WOT runs and they ran absolutely perfect.
Now they just have to pass the test of time but so far so good.
If you've got some miles on your sleds you won't believe the buildup of soot in the caps.
Just figured this might help somebody and it's probably a good idea as a preventative measure.
Good luck.

bogging

you might want to check your fuel pick up lines in the bottom of your tank my 2011 pro was running like s---t checked everything tps valves, throttle play filter then syphoned out my tank and found my regulator and half pieces of hose just rolling around inthe bottom not hooked to anything. dealer says ethanol fuel the problem i think so but my sled has only run maybe 3 tanks of ethanol. my daughters was only pulling 7500 rpm last week so we checked hers and she had 1 hose already rotted off in her tank .And the crappy part is pumps and pickup line system are on backorder from polaris until jan 30 :face-icon-small-sad
