Hosted Timbersleds over the last weekend....got to go to places hard to get too by sled...got out to island park (below medicine wheel) and no one had been out there all winter...it is outside the restriction area
Man, when I saw you had posted I thought it was going to be about that 2 ft friday dump I had been hoping for! But here it is only about a letter from some politician congratulating you on some award you received. But seriously congratulations. You and Dawnie have put in some tough duty up there i am sure, and deserve recognition. Had to have been those paper plates and plastic forks.
Dump didn't happen...less than a 1/4 inch last night. Looks like it's moving slower than they thought and calling for a "wild one" tonight into tomorrow. Looks like it might be a fun ride to Bear on Wednesday to p/u and bring my truck back to this side......
A total of 6 inches would be my guess...wind has been very strong all night so it is blowing into trees and bowls....still some flurries as well. Right out front door of lodge there is 4 inches and the walkway to trailer is areas of 6-9 inches due to blowing. It is 14 degree's right now. I'll update as day goes on. It is supposed to keep this up till wed morning.
Flurries dying down...wind has died down....snow around tree's and out in open....just had 3 guys from MN stop by..... they said 3' drifts along way over from Burgess Jct.
If anyone is thinking about snowchecking a polaris and haven't had a chance to ride one yet, PM me. Thinking about riding on Friday and can bring the demos.
Group of us were out there last weekend...stayed at Elk View and rode South and West of the lodges for the most part. The snow is pretty crusty until around noon when the sun begins to soften it up. We managed to find some ok stuff to ride and even had a few stucks. Not great conditions by any means...but getting one last trip in was nice.
Went up on the Southern end today with high hopes only to be let down. Looked like about 6" at best over the top of concrete like snow. Managed to get stuck in the trees once when I broke through the concrete crust. Overall it was a good day to do some exploring for new areas, you could go anywhere you wanted to go without worry. Good snow to keep the sleds cool but other than that not much to get excited about. I'm gonna get the sleds ready for summer for now, I can always get them out if a good storm comes but I'm losing my optimism.
4 inches today..............sun is now out...wind died down.....
Spent day out with a group from MN. Took them to areas I knew about and then we went exploring from there. Had a blast. Found some good areas and some wind blown areas too.(9500 ft) We rode in low visibility and snow storms.
