2011/12 Snowy Range snow conditions

riding

Just got back to Iowa last night, we rode saturday , sunday, and Monday
snowed like Hell all day everyday it seemed like. base it setting up nice. Laramie got like 6-8 inchs of snow all the way up to the Mountain. you can ride all the way to centenial if you need.
have a good ride
cant wait till the next trip

I have not even ridden yet! I have been trying to get a group together to come out to centennial and stay there like we have the past few years but i don't know why none will commit to go!?! last week I asked one if he would want to go and he said I just don't want to drive 15 hours to ride on marginal snow. There is not marginal snow out there is there! From the sounds of it and the pictures and videos it look great!

I wouldn't worry about marginal snow now. I haven't been out for a couple weeks, but we are headed out again next week. We have an 8 hour drive and every trip has been worth it, even with bending some a arms. The snow is good now. Tell him to quit being a sally.:face-icon-small-win

1st trip to the Snowies????

My dad and I are heading to the snowies in the next 2 weeks, where do you guys recommend staying? We would like to stay right up in it, but realize that may not be possible. Looking for a lodge with gas, food, etc...

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

the "old corral" in centennial is a good place .
In centennial u have gas , food , (bear tree bar and grill is really good)lodging and u r only 7 miles away from the trail head.
you should beable to google old corral
centennial is a small town. easy to find everything when u r there. In fact your about 150 yards from the bear tree when u r staying at the old corral. hope this helps.
snow is great now

Can't wait to get there, we are in desperate need of some seat time. No snow here this year, what a freakin horrible winter for us.

if the hotels in centennial are full, go to laramire which is about 30 miles away!
give them a call and make a reserve room now.

Just cancelled 2 of our 4 rooms at albany lodge today. better hurry to get them. When I booked them in november I took the last rooms. This is for week march 3rd though 10th.

We are heading home from a kickazz weekend. Chest deep snow to get buried in, powder over the hood, good boondocking, lots of climbing. :director:NOT MARGINAL SNOW!!! Well worth the ride-there is something for everyone there!

Great snow this weekend. As usual the west and northwest side of the range had awesome pow. Average between 2-3 feet in depth and very light snow-lots of open meandering creeks and watch for rocks still but all in all it's starting to develop into the season we have all been waiting for! Lake Marie(Toilet bowl) looked like a runway by the end of Saturday. The mountain had a lot of visitors this weekend but with snow in the forecast every day through Thursday the tracks should get covered up pretty quick!

Heard FC had a couple of campers last night??
