2011/12 Big Horns North/South snow conditions

I like to see pics and hear about what the conditions are like so let us know! Talked to a friend today and he went up behind deer haven in the upper ten sleep area and he said there was still about a foot of snow!

Report from the Northern Big Horns..

Hello all:

still have a foot or so at Wyoming High Country. For those of you who don't know where that is; we are about 20 miles past Bear Lodge, going toward Lovell. Forecast is for another 4-6 inches later in the week. It begins....

it looks all white again up there how much did you get up at high country early this morning ?

Snotel says 5" at bone springs and 3" at bald mountain, so not a lot but it will come soon and stay!

Close to 3" on Monday. We are getting that afternoon sun so we warm up and lose some, then it snows over night and we get 1 or 2" back.
Won't be long though, usually by the end of October we have snow on the ground that will last thru the winter.

mbj, you stay at high country all winter?! that would be awesome for getting the word out on snow fall and condition!

Snow at Wyoming High Country

We only got 5" total from Monday thru Tuesday night. It is supposed to warm up a little every day, all the way until Sunday. Yeah, we will be there all winter,so will try and keep you up to date. Not much business right now as we are transitioning from summer business to snowmobiling, but someone is there all the time. If you guys are in the neighborhood, stop by and say hello!

I know ryan i feel the same way, going to finish working on my sled this weekend and it will be ready to rip! Not sure how the weather will pan out but it might be another month till good riding.

Just got back from elk hunting, there was enough snow to run the old beater sleds around. I'm thinking about some break in time on the new sled soon, when we left anyway there was more then enough in the ditches up by baldy.

A SERIES OF STORM SYSTEMS WILL MOVE ACROSS THE REGION MONDAY
THROUGH FRIDAY. THE FIRST SYSTEM WILL MOVE THROUGH MONDAY INTO
TUESDAY. THIS SYSTEM WILL BRING COLDER AIR WITH A CHANCE OF SNOW
ACCUMULATIONS FOR THE FOOTHILLS...AND AT LEAST A RAIN AND SNOW
MIX ACROSS THE PLAINS. THE MOUNTAINS SHOULD SEE ACCUMULATING SNOW
WITH 6 TO 12 INCHES POSSIBLE FOR THE NORTHERN SLOPES OF THE
BEARTOOTH/ABSAROKAS AND THE BIG HORN MOUNTAINS.

THE NEXT SYSTEM WILL ENTER THE AREA FRIDAY INTO SATURDAY. THIS
SYSTEM HAS THE POTENTIAL TO BRING THE COLDEST TEMPERATURES OF THE

Went riding sunday up at hunt mountain had a great time breaking in my new pro! About 16" inches in most areas, with about 24" on top we could see some good riding.. I even got a coupke side hills in on the trees

please all be careful you can not go off the roads till the 16th of nov. i wouldn't want some one to get in trouble or worse have the forest service put a no riding limit till we have ex amount of snow ... glad you had fun though

I seen a news report from the forest service a couple weeks ago saying they were allowing people to ride early beacuse of the snow that was there... They said in their news post that there needed to be only 6'' of snow ( which doesnt seem to be enough to me ) and that you could use your sticker from last year until the new ones were for sale....

So that says to me, ride at will!!!
