2010 rmk 800 voltage regulator issue

What a mess. Has anyone elso noticed that Polaris has cost themselves more money by not taking the high road and doing the right thing with these sleds? So now there is a 3rd updated VR. Why wouldn't Polaris pull the old ones and just send us new ones to save face? With warranties running out, there are going to be a lot of unhappy customers if they have to fork over $1300 each time that $120 VR fails.

I change my VR at the begining of each season and throw the old one in my Pack as a spare 120$ ouch but here are the #'s I have
I am still on the 09ECU although I have the reflashed 10 ecu along with a VR in my Pack as a just in case!! now I hope the stator doesnt go out!!!

08-09 OEM #4011731
installed 09-10 season #4012476
installed last week #4012930

So I think the 930 must be the latest greatest, and No I have not had one fail Yet!!!

How many guys have had VR fail and not the ECU????? I dont know if the ecu goes out the second the VR fails???

seems like some guys get away with just changing the VR?? or do the ecu's fail from repeated starts with the VR failed trying to get back to the truck???

I have an '09 D8 155, and my VR failed two years ago, and it did not take out the ECU. I have not had any other issues.....

Bought a 2010 IQ Shift for the wife new on the floor August 2010. Same issue - dim lights and dash display goes out. Shut down start up fine. Sometimes for 100 yards sometimes all night it would run fine. Found this info - funny none of the dealers have seen the issue around here - nor have they seen the Service Bulletin - SSA-10-01. (Would love to see a copy posted).

Anyway - new part on order after conversing with the dealer. They have been most helpful just wish they were closer than 70 miles away.

Stay tuned - hope this one will be put to bed.

I also was left walking after the voltage regulator issue with my 2010 Assault, about 500 miles on her. When I got home it took me 5 minutes to find out everyone is having problems with these crap regulators. I was excited to see Polaris issued a bulletin and are doing the right thing by replacing these things. Unfortunately after contacting my dealership and Polaris they will not replace my regulator. I tried to get a good answer from Polaris (called numerous times and sent multiple emails) why they would not replace my VR. The only answer they provided was "we found no bulletin for your snowmobile". The regulator that was in my sled was PN 4012476 and I just ordered the replacement PN 4012930 through my dealer. After dealing with their customer support, I'm not as big as a fan as I was a week ago.

2009 rmk 600 VR-ecu

after a week at the dealer, i was told that the screw that retains the spare belt holder caused roughly $800 damage in parts. apparently it rubbed thru a wire on the stator which blew the voltage regulator, which blew a capacitor, which blew part of the ecu. the part # on the old VR is 4010794. i'll have to check the new one tomorrow.

so, for the time being the sled runs but the dealer says the ecu will not take a flash. it's running for now but for how long...WTF? i'm no electrician but aren't there supposed to be fuses to prevent this sort of damage? this is on a work sled but it doesn't lend much confidence to my "new to me" '08 dragon 800.
