Hi Ron,
I can't tell from ur pics, is there a good location for hand guards on those bars?
Hope to get mine soon!!

Pic's of handlebars-looks like room to attach but the brake reservoir is huge. Moving the Perc switch a snap, will fit any where on the bar but a very sharp edge on the bottom mount needs some silicone:

More Pic's

Looks like some room for a vent high in the nose cone out of harms way...may add something.

Suspension out Holtz going in....good look at how far foreward the front arm has moved from the Edge.

Another look at the bumper with hood removed. It mounts to brackets that look easily (with lots of work) adaptable to the 08. The inner bumper bolts to a bracket attached to the bulkhead. The outer bolts to a bracket that ties into the upper A Arm bracket & includes the mount for the sway bar. This picture only show the outer bumper section, previous pic show both.

FBF - that little aluminum strip is for the clutch cover...

the bars are silver, not black? that sucks! i wonder if its the same on the assault? also how wide is that bar pad?

RSI - do you make those mounts any shorter? im kinda short (5 ft 10) and when i stood on them at the preview they were perfect.

We make them in 2" which is just a bit taller than the stock stacked block set up.

ron- where are the wires for the fuel map switch??
and i was trying to install some sportech hand guards on mine and could not find anywhere to really mount them on the throttle side...well i couldnt find a place to mount them on the brake side either unless i went on the outside of the brake and that put the hand guards out too far, i was thinking of getting some aluminum strap and bending and twisting from the mountain bar mounts

O and i took my perc switch and mounted it down by the bar clamp...just cut and re zip tie the wires back and really you can take it anywhere seems like there is a great deal of extra wires/cable to take the bars up alot

Carls cycle Better Boards

Ron could you post a picture of Carls version of better boards or tell us what they do to standard better boards. Thanks I always appreciate your ideas.

On the clutch side, above the driven, behind the clutch guard, there is a wire harness tucked behind the guard (above the left foot stirrup). There are two wire sets with plugs & two inidividual wires-one pink & one black. When the pink & black are plugged together you get the fuel map for NON ethanol fuel, 91 octane.
I've moved my Perc 3 times, don't like the sharp edge at the bottom.
I hate hand guards but am tired of frost bit hands so I'm looking too. I'm sure that some will fit the sled.

Cool pics guys!!! Now I am excited. Mine is at Carl's right now waiting for all the Holz stuff and turbo to come in:)

Dragonfire Minor point of clarification. What you saw were prototype Better Boards for the all of Polaris RMK IQ RAW and Assaults. They were the first one off's that we were doing for Carl's Performance Catalog. You may have noticed that thread lasted about 1/2 hr! I asked Ron to pull that original thread because it was misleading in many aspects. Rather then deal with mis-information and confusion we just removed it. Once again what you say was the prototype for the new 08-09 updated version that all customers have access too and is available from any Better Boards Dealer.

WHY THE CHANGE

Now that Polaris standardized the rear suspension/tunnel support bracket position on all of the 09 RMK models (146 to 163) we were able to update the design for this season or what we call the 08-09 model version.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE

The entire board has been extended 1 1/8" so that it is a perfect match to your front running board section from footwell to rear bracket break. We opened up and repositioned the front relief holes for both better snow removal while maintaining similar structural strength up front. We repositioned the entire cleat pattern and added one more cleat and relief hole right in front of the rear bracket. That closed up quite a bit of flat surface from the last model. This alone is the one huge plus of the updated version as we did get some snow build-up right in front and over the rear bracket.

I can confirm the snow buildup problem in the footwell's on the stock '08's. It was a major pain last year. They definitely needed the relief hole in the front. Sounds like these updated boards address alll the issues now.
:D

Can I order these off the betterboards site and am I guaranteed to get the updated version? What's the scoop w/ Black, powerdcoat? Do they scratch and look like crap after a year? You don't have any reseller's in Alaska, do you?

Yep
If you hurry and order off of the website you can save money before I get a chance to update with this years pricing and yes you get the updated models. I have three sets of last years left for discount that I'll take to the shows for closeouts. Just know that they aren't shipping for a couple weeks.
You can call Carl's Cycles at 208-853-5550 if you want to get on their order list or you can.....

go to
www.snowmobilebetterboards.com

click RMK IQ RAW BLACK 155-163
be certain to install your physical shipping address in the paypal information area (or pm me that address as sometimes the paypal site doesn't include it with the order...we are working on it!)

Or call up your best AK Polaris dealer and tell them to get on "BOARD" and stock up!
