2009-2010 Valemount Conditions

Conditions are awesome out here if you get a chance to see.

Chappell was totally socked in yesterday with some awesome snow. Approx 30cm in most places and was snowing very hard when we left. So hard in fact that the parking area was very tough to get into this morning. I got the plow out there as soon as I got word, sorry if it caused anyone trouble. On the other hand, my Chappell Staff broke down on the way out this morning so lots of folks got a free ride...sucks for the club, but good for them.

Conditions at Allan today were awesome with about 15-20cm covering all the tracks on the front side and closer to 30cm back in superbowl. Visibility was on an off, but when it was off you were blinded. We came down early and it looked to be clearing, so the afternoon must have been awesome!

The holiday rush went great and thank you all for coming, the only thing I ask is PLEASE PACK OUT WHAT YOU PACK IN !

Any updates on snowfall? planning on driving to Vale on Friday, 10 hr trip one way. But also don't want to arrive to find a skating rink to ride on.

We have not received much rain in the last two days and this morning the skies have opened up a bit and it looks like a chance for some nice blue sky riding. Numbers this week have been VERY low. The rain is falling as snow up high, but the user numbers are down so low that we have not heard what is happening up top, although I can see the fresh snow line from my office.

The lower trails are still in good shape at this point, but please bear with us if we keep receiving this warm weather.

I should be back up and running soon, and will hopefully be able to start posting pics again.

FRI Jan 22 There is a Derek Ruttan Concert here in town with a bunch of tickets left. This will be a great venue. Tickets can be purchased through Infinity Office at 250-566-4225

I usually dont do this, but im starved for info

Word from a guy, who knows a guy....blah blah..... said that their was 14" of fresh yesterday. If true, they are having one heck of a day today.

14 users in Allan today, 0 in Clemina.....come on guys, the conditions are great !

Thanks for the updates Curtis! :)

Looks like we are heading there tomorrow night!

Also looks like the avy forecast is HIGH....

so be careful out there guys!

It looks to be puking up in the alpine. Visibility may not be great, but the snow should be awesome this weekend ! Chappell tomorrow should be sick !

Take care this weekend and play safe. Read and understand the CAA ratings for the North Columbia region

Stop by the VARDA office if you would like any more information.

Thanks

Yes thanks Curtis, were heading up friday night (from Edmonton) to ride Saturday and Sunday, looking forward to it.....A red Dragon and a black XP, can't wait.:beer;

Everyone please have a look at the CAA report before you ride....

Let's have a great weekend and send everyone home safely!!!!!

The valley bottom conditions this morning are VERY wet.

I have staff on the Chappell trail today and they will be back with a first hand snow report this afternoon.

Please play safe out there. Conditions are sketchy now with all this warming and precip. Check the CAA ratings and fully read the explanations and recomendations before heading out this weekend. You can always have a safe trip if you make the correct terrain choices throughout the day.

Reports from Chappell Creek of over a meter of fresh snow at first entrance to the alpine and folks were not getting very far.

Chappell is an excellent place to play with these risky conditions, rolling meadows and tonnes of safe riding to be had.

Please use your head and if you are riding, Ride Safe

This is not the time to be near a hill

Hey guys, got word saturday morning that all the rains and warm temps. the last while have really washed down and glazed the snow up-top... heard Wigley's choppers over in Blue River are all grounded and his skiiers "not-skiing" ..."extremely heavy-danger avalanche situations" ...I believe was his quote
What's goin' on in Valemount?
...a meter of fresh at Chappell sounds great, but how 'bout the others that are so much lower in elevation... Allan, Clemina, etc etc??? Any reliable reports on the situation up there?
Just curious eh.. seen it best to bring this up :(

The snow is incredible. A little wind blown up high, but all the lower precip has been falling as snow in the upper elevations.

Hillclimbing is not the activity to do right now, but this is the best boondocking conditions we have had in years.

The snow in the trees and open meadows is deep and soft !

This site is a bit quiet lately. Another site has some great pics from this weekend
