2009-2010 Valemount Conditions

Good news is its warming up around here and beginning to snow lightly.

I have spent the last two days of -25 out in the field and have visited all of the managed areas. This is as honest as it gets.

Allan and Clemina have excellent snow off the beaten path and in the trees, very light and dry, but common areas are packed and affected by the wind and cold. Trails are beautiful.

Keyhole has lots of fresh tracks left, but the area is affected by the cold and high winds. Great trail in with easy access from the Clemina lot

Chappell has seen very little use since its grooming and is likely not to be groomed again this week as we need to try and recoupe some of the cost invested by grooming. The area had the best snow quality of all visited, but was tracked up a bit and also affected by the wind and cold temperatures. The trail has developed some bumps around the corners and the first switches but is just fine, we must be able to recoupe at least half of the cost of grooming before attempting to groom again.

There is really no way for me to determine what this fine fallling snow is doing up in the hills, but if I find out, I will let you know !

Please take a look at our website and support the businessses that support snowmobiling in our community

The light dry snow is still falling, but I am unsure what levels we will see in the mountains.

Grooming as normal, Allan and Clemina throughout the weekend and we will be grooming the first half of chappell only, due to cost and very low user numbers since the last groom.

Looks to be a C O L D weekend... Gonna make a last minute decision as to whether we go or not.
The weather Network says highs of -21ºC so hopefully they change their mind.
And everyone do your snow dance!!!!

Hello

Very cold day up on the hill today.

Conditions were a bit off this weekend with the cold weather last week and high winds. There was excellent snow available for those willing to get off the beaten path, but the common areas and trails are ridden for sure. We could use some snow, but their is lots left.

I would have to say that Clemina still has the best conditions of the main areas and lots of good riding left within.

Quiet out there today with only 27 riders at Allan and 40 at Clemina, Chappell saw a total of 37 riders this weekend..........

My thermometer on my pack limits out at -30 and she was pinned today, but the forecast is looking good for next week.

Sounds like the conditions are great out there after the last snowfall. Roughly 8-12" in the Allan Creek lot this morning.

I will be back with a first hand report of chappell tomorrow night!

Thanks for the update, Curtis!
We're heading there tomorrow...
Still got one spot left in the trailer, PM me if anyone needs a ride! I promise to ride nicely. Sort of.

lost shovel handle and probe

hey a guy in our group lost a shovel handle with probe inside on allen creek friday Dec 18. we will be in valemont till sunday night. please pm me if someone found it thanks

We found the handle that day, just left it in the cabin hanging on one of the hooks. Hope it is still there for ya

Geeez, digging ourselves out again this morning:D. The snow carried on throughout the night and is still falling quite heavy.

The snow on the hills should be epic, but please use your head out there and make some smart choices regarding terrain.

If you are heading this way, drive safe !

Happy Hollidays:beer;

Valemount has installed a new webcam to view the current weather. Not much to see right now, but this is awesome. Ive been waiting for this for a while and am very stoked to see it up and running.

I will have a link on our website very soon.

This is from a building behind P@V's Conveniance and aimed kinda southish towards the Westridge.

Wasn't as bad as it looks... cost me a bumper and a few hours work.

Was able to straighten the plastic out with the heat gun and a lil patience. Ready for more abuse now! Those XP's are a lot tougher than people think!

Oh, and snow=GOOD! :)
