Thanks for your concern,I really appreciate that.

Cheers,
Dave

Heading to Revy on Thursday Evening and will be riding Friday to Sunday. Heard the conditions will be unreal. You get stuck going downhill. :D We will be riding with Team Thunderstruck all weekend. Then we have the big banquet on Saturday Evening, you cannot buy tickets at the door though, you can pre-pay and get them at the door. PM me for details and see you there.

Well after missing last weekend think I will take a rip at Revy this weekend. Any other SWers making the trip?

Headed North!!

Hey y'all.
There is a group of us headed up from the states at the end of the month. First time up there. Are the avalanches as bad as all the articles say? Are they just in certain places that we need to stay away from?

Currently the snow conditions are somewhat unstable, and not at the usual elevations that one would suspect. There are slab movements and wind loaded slopes that are letting go. Best to check in with the Canadian Avalanche Centres website and familiarize yourself with the dangers.

These conditions are changing all the time, ..daily actually, you need to check every day leading up to, and the morning that you ride. If you are unfamiliar with this area, perhaps consider hiring a guide to take you out for a tour, and get you back safely.

Not all areas are hazardous, there are safe areas that do not slide, that being said, ..no matter how well one thinks he knows an area, don't take anything for granted, pay attention to whats happening around you, get informed, do a test pit to check the cohesion of subsequent layers, ride safely and responsibly.

Have a great trip and enjoy.

Cheers

hey ron sounds like we have missed some nice pow! me steve and jim will be there friday night for the weekend, maybe we can do some more tree bashing.rob

Hi Rob, more tree bashing hey.....lol, I'm always up for some good boondocking through the trees and deep pow, ..looks like the forecast may be good too.

Sounds like there will be more than a few sledders in town this weekend, ...should be fun.

Cheers

permits

What kind of permits do we need to get while we are up there? We have to buy a 30$ sticker to ride where we are, but i have no idea what we need to ride up there.

I really appriciate all the info on here. I am making my first trip to Revelstoke, from WA, next Wednesday. Is there anything special I need to know about riding or traveling in Canada? I think I'm good to go just wondering about anything that might catch me unexpectedly. Also how is the gas there. I would guess that its fine but figured I would ask just incase its recommended to bring my own.
Thanks!

I recommend staying at the Super 8 in town, cheap, clean, and an indoor pool and hot tub. Plus it's right across the street from Zala's, the best food in town. Daily trail passes used to be 10 bucks. Cross the border at Sumas and go thru Kamloops not Kelowna, roads are better. Since it's your first time, I highly recommend getting a local to show you around. Not sure if Kurt Broza, KBI on the forum, or Steve, Flyboy, are still around but you can try to look them up on here. Great guys, always had a blast riding with them. If not I'd say start at Frisby, far less traffic and some cool riding you can find on your own without getting too lost. Sure wish I was going!

american money?

Is our green accepted up there w/o any problems. I'm aware of the exchange rate.
