Hope the weather is great in revy with lots of fresh pow for the Jan 23 weekend. We are hosting a mountain mania banquet at the revelstoke community center. Team Thunderstuck will all be there for that as well. For more info PM me or google mountain mania III

Poof the clear weather for friday appears to be 17 cm of snow. Most likely holding off until next weekend, didnt manage to round up any takers. Anyone GTG for next weekend?

Socked in this weekend?

Should my buddies and I gamble and come up for the weekend? coming from Seattle to ride for Saturday and Sunday? looking like visibility will be the issue?

I think this is the bigger issue avy danger still at high/high/high with increasing wet heavy snow loading on friday at continued warm temps. We were all set to ride Sicamous fri-mon but everyone else bailed because of sketchy conditions. Its so depressing in WA though i would take a gamble and head that way, want to caravan to sicamous? its closer and owls or blue have a lot of fun non-avy path terrain. and sat-sun should be deep!!

Supposed to be heading that way a week from today...I know a lot can happen in a week but still makes a guy wonder:confused:

I have been riding Boulder for the last two days. Snow is nice and deep and there is no one around which is sweet. Been pretty socked in and just a handful of guys sittin in the cabin LOL. Went IFR to the bull pen and then up to private meadows. Not a track in her and nice and deep. We spent hours bangin it out. There is so much untracked back there. Supposed to be socked in for the next few days. It's gonna be fun hittin the all the new stuff, LOL. I can only imagine how much in the not so known places around Revy !

Summitboy, I saw your wife at work the other day before you both left, the next day I think. Anyway have fun in the powder, play safe. Didn't know Apexes were equipped for IFR.....your personal add-on? Can you remote file a plan on the mountain?

Btw what is private meadows? Never heard any area called that on Boulder.

Jealous!...Enjoying the wet, dirty melt in Calgary. It will all be gone soon. Bring some snow back.

Better not come to Revy, there is no snow left LOL. We were the only tracks past the top of the cabin. We totally had to bang our way to the bull pen. We pounded Sugar today. Not a track in her. Socked in which kept a lot of sleds just above the cabin. Snowing like crazy up top. Whoever gets past bullpen and private meadows will be in heaven LOL. One to two more days left for our group. I never ride Boulder usually because it is such a chit show, but with no one back there it is a nice change if pace. Sugar was full and the old turbo got a major workout LOL. Love sledding !!!!

seriously?

I heard the weather report is for snow and Chit loads of it? any locals know what it's really doing? thinking of heading that way still will decide tomorrow morning?

Passport

Do you have to have passport to get through border or will birth cert and driver lic work thanks

Couple Things

Yes there is tons of fresh snow, over 11 ft. now at Boulder Cabin another ft. since last night BUT take a look at the avy conditions for the wknd.

Love this new sledder friendly report page, add it to your favorites :D

The memorial ride for Alana Nicol is tomorrow night (Sat.) We are all riding up as a group on the Kirkup trail to the cabin. We`ll leave together around 7 p.m. Burgers, hot chocolate and goodies will be provided by family and friends. They are asking that everyone bring some fireworks.

Avalanche Awareness Day is Sat. Jan. 23 from 8 a.m. till noon on Boulder.
Mock searches, beacon training, probing and conveyor shovelling techniques.
CAC Reps and forecasters will be in attendance to answer your question.
Hope you`ll all take a few hrs. of your day to learn or brush up on your avy skills.

Mountain Mod Mania 3 Ride is also in Revelstoke on Sat. Jan. 23.
Tkts. for the dinner/banquet can only be purchased until Tues. Jan. 19 so if your going to be in town get your tkts. right away. We have to notify the caterer and bar our #`s then. See rknights111 post above info. Tkts. can also be purchased in town at Powder Pete`s.

Summitboy, people are sitting in the cabin because they are not used to navigating through clouds in zero visibility. That is just part of your day, be it a snowmobile or your day job!

Drivers lic. and birth cert. still works but they are phasing that out through this summer...
Border states are "supposed" to have the "enhanced ID" option which is less costly and quicker than passport issueing for over land crossing...
Of course the passport is still the sure fire, no doubt method....

Lookin for some help or advise on some new areas around revy to ride, anybody interested in lending some info out would be greatly appreciated. Have been riding for 30+ years but just got back to riding revy about 4 years ago and haven't riden any other areas than Boulder, turtle, eagles and frisby. I have heard about keystone, area 51 and Mcrae but don't know where they are, is there any one that would be interested in showing a couple of experienced guys riding turbo yamaha's some new areas, it would be appreciated. If so pls PM.

Thanks

:D

Rode Boulder today, ........absolutely awesome.....!!!!! ..Wicked deep fresh POW....

Mostly blue skies, some passing clouds this afternoon, but mostly clear blue and sunny!!! Very deep down in the Lakes area, ...four feet of powder in places.

Did some slope carving on some safer faces to get a feeling for the stability, as the CAC site was rated "high" this morning. Paid attention as we went. Most of the Chutes that we went by had slid already, on their own, ..the East main Lake face had slid on it's own.

There was quite a display put on by one individual later in the afternoon in the Superbowl. After successive failed attempts at dislodging a spruce tree along the south/eastern face of the superbowl, he did manage to trigger a good sized slab of snow. It swept him up momentarily, but there was not enough volume in the slide to keep this guy down...

Don't let your guard down, check the CAC for conditions.

The riding today was epic, deepest powder I have seen in a few years...

Cheers
