12 Pro 800 Took a Dump Yesterday!!

Ya, you godda vote and voice you opinion to these manufactures. It's your cash they want, so spend it wisely.

I did and have been totally happy with my Pro. I'm happy with my vote. Best vote I've cast in years.

What, no suspension mods needed??

no worries its covered under the 4year warranty!!! Nice selling feature. Would rather ride the 12g sled than deal with this crap!!!

--The warranty is a nice option and should be relatively unnecessary, it becomes a pain in the a$$ when you have to consistently use it due to unreliable equipment.

--When a warranty is what calms concerns and help sells the sled, a little warning light should go off and ask why is this warranty so important to me?

Not the right thread for this but your right! If I could get a skidoo without a primary for a slight discount that would be great, my 1200 has a TAPP and my old xp has a stm rage.
Hey there,You shim a TRA and it works great NOT on your Turbo thoe .Hows the STM working on the XP?:yo:

Warranty means you can't tamper with anything on the motor and still be in compliance. To do any amendments to the motor whatsoever and then try to claim warranty is dishonest.

Doesn't matter what polaris has done, does now, or is going to do in the future. If you void your warranty you void your warranty and anything said in addition to that is just an excuse to validate your dishonesty. And yes you screw it up for others who have valid claims.

And who the hell buys a two stroke, does stuff to it and expects it not to break within a 500-1000 miles anyway???? probably an obama supporter for sure.....

Really man?? Bringing politics into this thread is the last thing it needs. And who buys a two stroke and expects it not to break within a 500-1000 miles?? The guy writing the check for the $12,000 sled he just bought. Now in the case of this event, should the consumer be honest with his Polaris dealership? Yes. Should he expect to pay for a brand new engine on a sled with a minimal amount of miles on it? No. I've said this time and time again, A good dealership, will ALWAYS go to bat for you. After all, its the consumer that is keeping them in business, besides, they are getting the warranty work anyways :)

Yeah that last paragraph in my last post was a joke so lets not get our panties in a bunch here :der:

Only an obama supporter would take that serious... :pound:

Why is it all the threads are beating up on machines. Whether it is Polaris, Arctic Cat, SkiDoo, or Yamaha they are always being complained about. Every sled I have owned has had major negative postings. Buy the warranty and ride. If it breaks I feel for you. I too have ended a few trips from broken down sleds. These machines are going to break and take a beating on how we ride.

Repair-Update

Sled is fixed and ran great this past weekend in Kamas!

Warranty saved my As_!!

This has been such a volatile post to watch from last year I thought I should add more to it. Over the summer I found the crank seal was leaking behind the clutch on my 2012 PRO. The only modification was two SLP powder valves added to the air box. Took it to my dealer and they spent several weeks talking to Polaris about the issue. Polaris agreed to replace the seal. I mentioned to the dealer that the seal 99.9% of the time goes away due to excessive crank movement. He went back to Polaris and after several more weeks they agreed to wade into it with open eyes at least. This is all we can ask.

So I went by the dealership after the motor was apart and ask if could have the crank and cylinder to take to my shop and do a personal inspection. They agreed reluctantly. I washed out the oil in the crank bearings and the outer PTO and the MAG side sounded like they had gravel in them. Side note: when I got the sled new, the oil consumption was at 89:1. It had about 300 miles on it before it got adjusted to 50:1. It took that long to mark the oil tank and watch the consumption and get over the fact that is was at 89:1 to start with. After seeing this I checked my 2011 which had 700 miles on it and it was set to 78:1. :mmph:

After looking at the cylinder I noticed a crack in the skirt running straight up about an inch long. I am surprised it ran all season without a catastrophic failure.

Polaris did replace the crank and gave me a new cylinder. I just couldn't let them put the rattle trap stock Polaris pistons back in so I did go with after market RKT pistons. The dealer installed them for me and ended my warranty at that point. Oh well. I modified the motor and that's that.

With all that said Polaris upheld their end of the bargain and I upheld my end by not modifying the motor (prier to the overhaul) and all is good in Polaris land.

In the early days we all made changes to our sleds. Pipes and cans were just part of the "first thing a sledder did" list. On todays sleds with all the Government regulations the manufacturers are pushing the envelope to meet regulations and keep the customer happy. If you have to mod your sled then accept the fact the warranty is over. If that is not a risk you are willing to take then it might be best not to make any changes.

A can added to a stock sled changes the air flow that changes the fuel requirements. A pipe or a head is a huge change when dealing with FI motors. Adding oil to the fuel is a great way to burn down a motor. Yes they have sensors but they can only keep up with a narrow spectrum. Oil doesn't burn like gas and doesn't cool the piston like gas. In fact oil causes a extreme lean condition. Just my 2 cents.

On a semi direct injection engine like the pol 800, how much help is the oil in the fuel that you are adding really helping:face-icon-small-con The fuel is injected into the transfer port, from there it travels into the combustion chamber and then burned. Adding oil to the fuel will lean out the fuel/air mixture. Just a thought.

oil in the gas isnt as helpful as it was back in the old days
