09/10 Torpy riding conditions

The PG Club is looking for someone to run the groomer. Anyone want to volunteer, or chip in to pay someone to run it?

Nothing is free. Don't know how many of you are members, but I hear the numbers are pretty low this year. More members = more action.

Same goes for the wood at the cabin. The people that usually do the wood thought it was someone else's turn, so anyone want to sign up for wood next year?

I saw a bunch of beer bottles left in the cabin also, I took out the cans, but if you know who left the beer bottles there, remind them to go get them. There is also a summer clean up around the cabin to pick up after the puppies that drop stuff in the snow instead of putting there junk back in their bag. Volunteers?

You can go on the PGSC website and put your name down.

Ypu like riding the Sandy/Torpy, want to keep it? Look after it.

Hey Lee if you let me know if the Groomer make's it in there I will try to get my big skimmer off of vic and make a firewood trip in there. But if the groomer is not going in I don't think my skimmer and sled will hold together to the cabin. I'm pretty sure I can round up some friends to stock the cabin with wood.
Thnx Les

who's signing up for th avy couse? i think i am going to
also i have not renewed my membership yet but i will
and also volunteer to drive the groomer but i have never
opperated one before but i could groom as many times
as the fuel will allow. the ruptured disk in my back is not
going to allow me to do much riding this year.

I am just wondering it looks like this is just the classroom session, will there be a field session as well? or did i miss something?

The field session is going to be in McBride on the 25th of Jan.....usually the classroom is first and the field after, but we really had to do some juggling to get this course to fit into Zac's schedule, so the field will be first and the class the following two nights. My family is already signed up.....you won't find a deal like this so close to home.

The groomer is at Greg's house. He picked up the parts and new wheels and has some other general fixing to do.

He could use someone to hold a trouble light and pass wrenchs though.

I appreciate those guys that are going to renew their memberships, great, thanks. We are still on the governments radar about the caribou issue and those pointless area restrictions, I need numbers!!!

I don't want to publish Gregs phone on here, but when you go into the dealers to sign up, you can ask them for Greg's number. He has a heated shop, so don't be shy about giving the guy a hand, and some encouragement, liquid or otherwise!

My family has renewed again. I know that we need to boost our membership up here in the PG area....alot of the guys love riding the areas but don't support the cause. It really boggles my mind the numbers of sleds being sold in this region and only a small percentage actually belonging to a club. All I can say, is enjoy it until it's all gone.

I agree a whole lot more goes into maintaining a riding area than most people realize, groomer maintenance, safety shelter maintenance, and doing the right thing by packing your garbage out.....maybe scheduling a work bee every now and again and let the club members know via email or website when and where??

So, again here is my plug for the avy course coming to PG....we have worked hard to bring this course here and need a MINIMUM of 16 registrants for the course to even be held. So, please if you haven't already taken the classroom AST 1 course please sign up.....2 evening classes and you're done. The field session in McBride is good for us in PG as we don't have to worry about accommodations, etc.

just went out there today. Last 10km of the trail were in pretty rough shape...pretty beat out. up top it was really set up and only 10 inches of fresh on top...no deep powder to play in, but you can climb pretty much any hill in a kitty cat :D well, almost. needs some fresh......

Has anyone been in on the road from the Powder King side? Once you unload how many kilometers is it till the trail head? Then it is off to the right or left?

Any word on the groomer of when it will be ready to go to work?

I was told that there is a logging road that is on the north side of Prince George that loops back around to the parking lot for Torpy.

You could be thinking about the North Fraser, that loops back, but it isnt plowed all the way through. That loops back to the other side of the bridge.
