zx vs rev

basicly as good as the ZX is, the REv beats it in almost every way. if you keep your eye otu you can find cheap REV's. ZX's still catch a good buck around here.
you wont regret upgrading.

ZX chassis was a hair better than a S-chassis--but not by much IMHO.

The Rev---Will make a better rider out of you---as stated earlier--night and day difference in the chassis.

And I will take another $100 on Slim's 600 agianst your ZX chassis:face-icon-small-win:D

H20SKE...

It's kinda up to you, if you read all the posts its about 50/50. I ride a ZX at home but I have rented REV's when I ride out west, the REV is very different and hard to get used to, I find myself sliding foward on the seat all the time. Then again, my ZX is a 121" and all the REVs I have ridin are 151" they don't compair..........at all.

Go rent one for a few days and see what you think...thats what I suggest.

one glaring difference to me is the durability of the chassis, the ol' ZX could ping pong through the trees without costing a couple g's. radius rods, mebbe a trailing arm and go do it again.

I would bet more than a few members here have watched them roll down the side of the mountain for a half mile, flip 'em over, shake the snow outta the airbox and duct tape the windshield back on and not skip a beat.....:D

yea the zx was fairly solid but i disagree with the rolling part i seen way to many hoods open up and cost big dollars....

But that is a $10 fix (and probably should be the first after market part that gets installed!). Additional tie downs dude!

The crew that we ride with would be on their third or fourth REV by now if they were riding REVs instead of ZX... VERY rough on their sleds and they hold up very well!!! Trees don't stand a chance in our crew! lol

I second that. I've lost track of the number of rolls. Hell, I've never even broken a windshield. My zx has met a few trees as well. $40 used trailing arm and I'm back in business...

i can tell you right now all my group basically does is ride in the trees and the arcticcat has a real good solid bumper haha and i have honestly never had no trouble with my rev and between 2 of them i got well over 10 000 miles and i've had a few minor issues here and there but nothing that bad....morfee mar20 074.jpg thats a wide trail there

I love the feel of my zx, rode a rev, wasn't impressed. I'm more "gutsy" on the zx in the technical boondocking, may not climb as high stock, but a few mods to even the playing field you couldn't tell the difference. Bar risers helped riding position tremendously. If given the choice to trade my zx for a rev, I'd actually probably keep the old girl!

Always turns into "my sled can BEAT yours". Bottom line is, do a couple mods to your ZX and go ride and it will do fine... it's mostly rider anyways. Is it worth the thousands and thousands of dollars to BEAT the other guy by a couple sled lengths??? Some people think so.

My zx has taken a beating and has rolled many times, have had the hood open a couple times and not had anything worse then a windshield go flying. I like the feel of the zx but that's personal preference. Have spent time on the rev over many weekends and can't get used to the feel of them, although most people I know that have the rev chassis have all said that it took them a couple weekends of solid riding to start to like them. Durability wise I don't think that a rev will stand up to the punishment as well as the zx, as the monikor says I spend alot of time boondocking in the trees, trailing arms alot cheaper to replace than a arms and spindles. Like someone said rent one for a weekend and see what you like. You can listen to anybody on here but it comes down to what you will be comfortable on.

I've owned both, and true, the rev is a different machine to get used to, but for all out performance, the rev is better. Go pound a whoopy trail for 15 miles, and see how tired you will be on a ZX.
As for rolling, the ZX would suffer more damage.. I proved that a few times.
As for trees, well, the ZX would stand up and is easier to fix.
Working on the rev, under the hood is easier, the console pops off with 6 allan screws, and hood with 2 screws, side panels no tools required. no tub to tend with.

Ride with what you got, I say.. but I would never go back to a ZX.

From what I seen and read, the ZX is the more durable chassis by far. The REV defintely rides better, but if you are riding off trail in fresh snow than the rideer forward doesn't make a lot of difference. Put a taller seat on a ZX with a riser to match and you will make the ergos more comfortable.
