Z Broz +3 forward A arms

You can order a free video from Skins that talks about the whole process of how they came up with the idea to create the new A-arms. I know that they had at least 3 customer sleds testing them the last half of last year. I would say that if 3 inches forward is good then 4.5 would be better. Skins had about 3 or 4 different versions so I am sure that they figured it out. and if you ride a Polaris Pro then you know why they would want to copy that geometry. I do like the idea of being able to use your stock shock but not sure you will see the complete advantages from a stock shock.

Right, so that no one gets the wrong idea. Skinz was trying to figure out why the pro/m handled better than the nytro/summit, this was their observation. The initial attempt was to make similar geometry to the pro and noticed some obvious gains to be had. THEN they perfected the shock travel so that it travels directly in line between the two mounts...so they refined it a little there.

It is a great idea but I think Zbroz has something like it and they are right here in Logan. Plus I need spindles in a bad way and this will save me money!

Looks like most of the movement was built into the lower control arm. Justin you will have to get one of these and then we can back to back compare them and see what we think. Just rob your school book fund and share with your neighbor:)

Haha Yeah Buddy! I'm still trying to save up enough money to get a timbersled rear and the Zbroz front. That way we can compare the cat skid vs Timbersled too.

This is what I'm thinkin, and let me know what your take is....If the Zbroz A-Arms will get my ski stance 3" forward from stock....What If I re-drilled the holes in the mounting bracket on my Simmons Skis 1.5 inches behind the standard mounting hole? Getting the rear edge of my skis the same distance forward as the skinz set right? 3+1.5=4.5" net inches forward

--This only rings true if the simmons standard mounting hole is the same distance to the rear edge of the skis as the stock Yamaha skis.

This would help the original poster get nearly the same gains as the Skinz set but without having to buy new shocks or put spherical bearings in his current shocks.

What do yall think?

And what would you base this statement off of. That is some very flawed thinking I would have to say.

I don't know about the ski thing. I have a set on my MM and just the difference between the two different holes is big. I did not like them in the rear hole. I don't think you can get away with messing with the ski like that. Let me know how it goes. Who is to say anyway that the Skinz set up handles any better than the Zbroz. My biggest concern with that Zbroz set up is how much caster they have in it. That seems like a lot.

Well after thinking about it in my head for a long time I figure on paper it will have the same weight distribution on the snow as the skinz kit....however the the angle in which the A-Arms collapse into the subframe/shock mount will still be the standard geometry of the zbroz kit vs the skinz kits angle. Whether this will be that big of an issue I'm not sure but I think I'm going to try it.... worst case scenario I put it back in the original hole.

Sorry about the delay, but here are 3 pics taken from the side so you can see the spindle angle, and arm sweep. Hope this helps make up your mind, I built enough parts for 75 sets while I worked there, so there should be ample supply right now if you feel like taking the plunge.

the price is really nice since it comes with spindles as well. Is there any issue with the Zbroz bushings? Do they use oilite or something similar?

Changing the mount location of the ski will not change the fulcrom point of the spindle. While stationary with your skis straight ahead the sleds will look similar, when you turn the skis, they will no longer be the same. Or when the ski pivots on the spindle....

Just some thoughts.

I dont think thats going to work the way you're thinking here.
SLP had adjustable mount saddles on their original TriKeels.
Middle hole was where they suggested running them. (right over the carbides)
Front hole was Race only. (Scary responsive, sled would turn without you)
Rear hole was less aggressive and less response. Skis would wash through corners and wouldn't hold a sidehill.
That was only moving the about an inch either direction.

the z-broz bushings are nylatron (nylon impregnated with molybdenum disulfide). They are self lubricating and hold up very well, similar to delrin but with the advantage of providing their own lube as they wear

Ordered

Took the plunge this morning and ordered a set of +3 foward Zbroz a arms. Excited to see how it work, just made more sence to me than the skinz, if swenson says there good, i will take that to the bank!!!

i was pretty set on the skinz, but my shocks wont work, and i had a bushing go bad last year that destroyed the spindle, so to get the skinz it was going to be a $2000 dollar investment. I'm going to pick up a set of the zbroz at the snow show in 2 weeks. And I agree if RS gives them a thumbs up, that's good enough for me.:face-icon-small-hap

I'm in the same boat, I've gotta have new spindles and can't justify the cost of the skinz kit...i would love to buy a set but it's just not in the cards. I wanted the Zbroz before the skinz kit came out and now they have something sort of along the same line but a far better value for me personally...now I just need some money haha

I got my +3 kit the other day.. Looks like another great product by Z-Bros and good spindles too boot!! Ordered it on Monday was here Wedsday thanks for the quick shipment boys!!

Thanks for the shared opinions on the mounting location of the skis... I guess it's back to the drawing board

WOW! Now that is incredible service and ultra fast shipping.

hmmmmm

I have a complete z-broz front end on my impulse nytro right now. Anybody know if i can use my existing z-broz spindles and just change out the a-arms? I like the idea of making it sidehill easier.
Thanks
