Your opinion on the Death Penalty?

For those of you saying God said to forgive and all that sh!t, didn't the same God say Thou Shall Not Kill?

I love the death penalty. Too bad we don't use it like we should. If a guy is convicted in a court of law by 12 women and/or men, why all the appeals? Fukc that, nuke the worthless POS who killed an innocent person.

As stated before, an eye for an eye. Bye bye french fry.

We need an express lane. DNA evidence, witnesses, 90 days and its done.

pretty much sums it up. get it?? VVVV

I agree with the death penalty. It is not a perfect world and mistakes will happen in arresting, convicting, etc. If there was no question as to what the punishment was GOING to be, well, I would say that there would be more second guessing the act. The ones that are still doing it are deliberately doing it, don't care about it and really, why should anyone else care if they are living or not.

It's not perfect!!! Holy sheet man!! Do you realize what you just shrugged off!!!??!?!!!

Read this book or at least the article then come back and tell me what you think. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Innocent_Man
It could be you!!!!

I just read the book! It happened to a white guy. charged, arrested and tried by white people. So no racist card to be pulled.!!
Bottom line is, it can happen to anyone.
It has been proven to have happened many many times.
What if it was your brother, Dad,uncle or friend?? HUH?? WTF now!!????

Cops and the system can not be trusted! It has been proven time and again!!

I will say, I have no real problem with concept of the death penalty!! Hell if a nightmare happened to me, I could easily pull the trigger.
However, until it's proven flawless I say no in 80% of cases.

No, I'm not writing off mistakes. Going back and reading that text, it doesn't really say what I mean. I am just saying that if the punishments were more fitting to the crime, a lot of crimes might not ever happen. Additionally, the death penalty should only be used with absolute certainty the crime was commited by that individual.

I have had a family member suffer from a violent crime and they caught the guy. I don't know how, he was convicted but I couldn't be sure he did it. If he had a punishment more fitting to the crime he would be living a different life today. I don't know if it would have been fitting for him or not though. This is that uncertainty.

In reality - No true justice cant happen, we cant trust our government with such radical concepts. We cant trust them from screwing the average hard working Joe. (now that we are living in Clintons mess - no not Bush's - Clintons, and Mr Obama will screw us again to try for a quick recovery. quick recovery = big $

What I wish = bad people - lock them up and make life not so easy for them, and keep them there. make the punishment fit the crime. why do we need 350 lb muscle bound inmates working out every day. they need exercise, fine set a fitness course (one way) and let them go through it. Rehab is fine but make them work for the opportunity, say bootcamp similar to military where they learn friggin rules and discipline. NO parole or release until bootcamp is successfully passed. they dont participate they stay there.

of course this will require additional funding, so cut funding to another country that is just milking our system. (a whole new thread)

As for the the really bad ones. murder/rape/childbeaters/businessmen/investors who ruin peoples lives intentionally. We dont need electric chairs. We need electric bleachers!!!!! Couple hundred at a time until they take it serious. Then things would change. (holy shiznit the whole damn C block is gone man, lights dim and flicker, sobering)

big changes are needed!

I love the boot camp idea! We actually use to have one here in Idaho...but they did away with it and made it some fluffy a$$ treatment program....everywhere is soft now! Well except for Joe Arpaio in AZ...what a stud!

Hung by the neck until dead within 1 hour after the trial is over on the courthouse lawn. Will there be some innocent people executed maybe? What would the percentage be? 1 in 10,000? Maybe? But isn't there always an acceptable risk with everything we do in life? Another way to look at it would be, that is the price we pay for progress.

So, they convicted a manic depression, personality disorders, alcoholism and mild schizophrenia, person. And, killed him by releasing him from death row. Because, as soon as he got out and sued the government, he drank himself to death, and died of cirrhosis of the liver. Is this really a good example?

1 trial, 1 appeal
if every state started executing 1 person per day the cost would be less just like a production line . then there would be some teeth to the laws. crime would not stop but i guarantee it would drop

for certain crimes with the all the right stuff I am for the super express lane 30 days.

You'll have the scum child molsters and rapists and the rest of them thinking twice. I think that LI is too humanine for them.

If the evidence is there I say put them to death. For those who think God is the judge,he's welcome to judge their heart but we as a society need to judge their crime.

you are right on the money...God expects a law of the land if its just and expects his followers to live under it..again if its just...and the death penalty is just...if we make a mistake and the person being put to death is a saved individual God looks after him anyway...if he is not saved and innocent...well he is just going to the same place he was always intended..just early..as for an express lane..l agree..its just unfortunate that in Canada the our main DNA expert wrongly sent hundreds to prison that were innocent..anyway two DNA experts/truth serum/polygraph...if you fail all three instant death..no money wasted on trail...if you pass one..then a fair trial...
