BTW just so you know, the riding and climbing in your movies don’t impress me at all. We do it 3 or 4 times a week.
Veedy, you were at Yamafest last year correct? Were they climbing the chute you call monster on stock sleds? If not, why did they do it this year? That's all I wanted to know. Something had to change right? Better riders, better sleds, or different snow conditions? Simple question I thought you guys who were there could answer.
Don't get impressed confused with respect. I have lots of respect for the area you guys ride and the way you ride it. I really do. However, you guys don't have a monopoly on big chutes or big sleds. Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, Utah all have chutes just as big, just as long, and just as gnarly. I don't believe I used the word gnarlier.
You really should plan a trip down here. You might be surprised what you find.
As far as sleds go, you might also be surprised to find out we build the same sleds here you build there. I'm not going to get into specifics as I have nothing to prove, but we know how to install tunnels, turbos systems that work, tracks, suspensions, motors, we even know how to clutch down here.
I hope telling you this stuff is not going to make you suicidal. Its really not that big of a deal to me and if you guys feel better believing you have a monopoly on this stuff I'll retract everything I've said. After all, all I really wanted to know was why the stock sled made it over monster.
Cheers
Haha, your right on the money for the most part...we weren't really all that nice to the Jackazz that come up the chute when the Doo 1200 was in it, now were we. That really was stupid though. One at a time in the chutes boys and girls...we don't need anybody getting hurt from the braindead. It's interesting to me.... being up there on the hill with these boys. They ARE competetive, you see it in their eyes. And yet they root each other on, support each other, ENCOURAGE each other, help each other when something is wrong (whether it be stuck or something broke). You know they each want a first accent, the best line, fastest sled, etc etc. You have 3+ turbo companies being represented, 3 different (if not more) film companies being represented, 2stroke AND 4stroke sleds, and yet you see GREAT sportsmanship and comaraderie up there. Pretty incredible really!
Then add a keyboard and things get muddy......... lol
Putting all the other stuff aside, Yamafest is truly a one of a kind event. Starters, it's put on by a manufacturer for it's customers. And then you add this kind of talent, the NUMBER of great riders on one mountain alone is crazy!
There may or may not be bigger chutes out there. There may or may not be better riders out there. There may or may not be BADDER-ASSER sleds out there.... but pretty sure there is NOT a better EVENT that includes all the above out there. WAY TO GO YAMAHA CANADA!
Thumbs up to ALL involved!
Oh, and by the way, there was nothing condescending about what Lapper said. I guess you can't really send emotion over typed words, but that's not the way he would have said it.
I understand that you also ride and climb terrain that is similar to what was being climbed at Yamafest, but why oh why would you try to play it down ? If you posted pics and or video of your climbs, I would GUARANTEE you all of the boys would give you the thumbs up and say good on ya,bro. That's the attitdude we have here. It has nothing to do with my balls are bigger so go fark yourself, but hey thats awesome dude, you ripped up there, good on ya. double cheers and lets meet for a Buddy light later. Sorry if your on the wrong wavelength. Your invited to come up and ride with us anytime and share the chute comeradery we all love to enjoy.

Fair enough. If it was not meant to be condescending it's all good with me.
In the same attitude, my original post was not meant to take away from anything that was accomplished at Yamafest by anyone. Maybe I ask my question the wrong way so let me try again.
It sounds like there were a lot of 2 stroke pulling monster this year. Has this always been the case, or is this unusual? If it is unusual what were the contributing factors? Sled builds, riders, snow conditions, or a combination of all three?
Did it get pulled by a stock XP? If so here's to the rider
There seems to be one word missing from alot of these posts folks.... " FUN "
there was no shortage of fun...especially when the trays of pink drinks started flowin'!!!
Hey guys, I ask a simple question. I did not ask it in a threatening way and I did not take away from anything accomplished at Yamafest. It's not everyday stock sleds climb these chutes. I simply wanted to find out how they were doing it this year.
This did not get ugly until Lapper made the condescending comment "you keep watching the videos and well keep making them" I thought it was a disrespectful comment given the fact that we ride just as good, build sleds just as big, and climb chutes just as bad. I have never been to Canada riding, but I do ride with several guys who have. I ride with guys who have seen these chutes up close and personal. I know how they compare to the chutes we are climbing here. I have also rode with great riders from Idaho, Wyoming and Utah. Fact is, chutes just as bad as those in Canada were getting pulled by riders all over the country last weekend. If Lapper and the guys think there doing something that is exclusive to Yamafest it's time for a reality check. I respect every attempt made on any chute at Yamafest, but I also realize there are a lot of pulls being made in other parts of the country that deserve the same respect.
Haha. I'm going tomorrow. There is still a little business to take care of in the Arm and Mile. C U their Lapper???????????????????????I had a great time!! might have been one of my best weekends in Revy. Great snow, wicked ridders, and most of all fantastic people. Thank you to everyone who makes the trips out there so much FUN!!
I can't wait tell next year to do it all again.
