Yamafest Pictures!!!

Well lets just say this.... The snow was deep in the chutes!! about a foot and a half of fresh. Anyone who went over any of the chutes that were pulled last weekend get's a HATS OFF from Lapper!! You keep watching the videos will keep making them!!!

Whoop whoop!!

Lapper...Over & Out!

Easy there Lapper, I wasn’t taking anything away from any of the pulls made this year. I don’t recall stock sleds pulling monster at this event last year. I wanted to know if the sleds or the riders improved that much in one year, or if the snow conditions provided a little better hook-up.

If you guys call that powder more power to you. We don’t call it powder when the track cuts thru and the sides don’t fall back into the track.

Don’t let this stuff go to your head. Those aren’t the only big chutes on the planet. We have plenty of our own down here in the lower 48, and were pulling them just like you boys do.

BTW just so you know, the riding and climbing in your movies don’t impress me at all. We do it 3 or 4 times a week.

;)

Hi spur,
I'm quite interested in the climbs you do. What area do you ride ? and is this where the chutes you climb are located ? You ride and climb gnarlier chutes 3 or 4 times per week ? wow ! where do you work , or are you just personally rich ? What sled / turbo system do you run, i'm also interested in your setup. I would love to make a road trip and check out some of these areas you speak of.
The snow in Revelstoke area is quite different than most, it's more like coastal snow that has much more water content and " bonds " more easily than arrid areas. So while the snow can be deep here, most of the time they are climbing in chutes with 2-3 feet of fluff snow.
thank for any info you can give.

I thought canadians understood sarcasm? Seems to not be the case here...;)

My bud xrated is a beer connoisseur if you would, and was only trying to understand why you guys are drinkin domestic water drinks. :p Seems most of you guys that come down here, don't think too much of the nascar beers. He is just having a hard time with it.. Similar to when I found out the dankest beer modsledr likes is Corona. lol

Hmm.... all this canadian talk makes me whant a labatt... mmmm. :beer;

Back on topic though, cool pics, looks like everyone had a good time, and everyone stayed safe. Pretty amazing considereing the terrain!

Why thanks Ruffy.....sheez Laird must have pulled a groin doing freestyle and is still a bit tender. Just trying to have some fun with the northern brothers and their seeming distaste for American beer, ya know it's like having sex in a canoe.

and I have no doubt his girlfriend could out ride me....but I'd be willing to give it the old college effort as they say.;)

Now in all seriousness I would love if Laird or any of the other Canucks would be willing to send me some Pils to try. Just PM me and we can work out some payment and shipping details.

Haha. Ill send you a sixer........heck Ill even pay for it. You gotta promise to set up a video camera to catch your facial expression when you take the first drink.:D

Im not a fan of the stuff myself. Ill drink any beer on the face of the planet except for that stuff. And yeah, bud light with lime is the balls. Cant wait till we get that stuff up here in Canada.:beer;:beer;

Spur instead of chute climbing on your keyboard why not show up at one of these events and prove how great you are instead of mouthing off? Not saying your not the greatest just have not seen the proof! Oh and if your not impressed by what these guys are doing you obviously have no appreciation for riding in the first place.

Veedy, you were at Yamafest last year correct? Were they climbing the chute you call monster on stock sleds? If not, why did they do it this year? That's all I wanted to know. Something had to change right? Better riders, better sleds, or different snow conditions? Simple question I thought you guys who were there could answer.

Don't get impressed confused with respect. I have lots of respect for the area you guys ride and the way you ride it. I really do. However, you guys don't have a monopoly on big chutes or big sleds. Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, Utah all have chutes just as big, just as long, and just as gnarly. I don't believe I used the word gnarlier.

You really should plan a trip down here. You might be surprised what you find.

As far as sleds go, you might also be surprised to find out we build the same sleds here you build there. I'm not going to get into specifics as I have nothing to prove, but we know how to install tunnels, turbos systems that work, tracks, suspensions, motors, we even know how to clutch down here.

I hope telling you this stuff is not going to make you suicidal. Its really not that big of a deal to me and if you guys feel better believing you have a monopoly on this stuff I'll retract everything I've said. After all, all I really wanted to know was why the stock sled made it over monster.

Cheers

It's interesting to me.... being up there on the hill with these boys. They ARE competetive, you see it in their eyes. And yet they root each other on, support each other, ENCOURAGE each other, help each other when something is wrong (whether it be stuck or something broke). You know they each want a first accent, the best line, fastest sled, etc etc. You have 3+ turbo companies being represented, 3 different (if not more) film companies being represented, 2stroke AND 4stroke sleds, and yet you see GREAT sportsmanship and comaraderie up there. Pretty incredible really!

Then add a keyboard and things get muddy......... lol

Putting all the other stuff aside, Yamafest is truly a one of a kind event. Starters, it's put on by a manufacturer for it's customers. And then you add this kind of talent, the NUMBER of great riders on one mountain alone is crazy!

There may or may not be bigger chutes out there. There may or may not be better riders out there. There may or may not be BADDER-ASSER sleds out there.... but pretty sure there is NOT a better EVENT that includes all the above out there. WAY TO GO YAMAHA CANADA! :D

Thumbs up to ALL involved! :face-icon-small-coo

Geeze Spur, when did any of these guys say they were the best, had the best sleds, pulled the biggest chutes or the best lines???:( I have seen those chutes in person and REGARDLESS of the snow conditions those riders that pulled them are incredible riders with big skill(and nuts..:face-icon-small-sho)....

Every time I have been to Revy most everyone welcomes us with open arms with out a care about our ability, what sled we ride or how big we can go.

I think Yama fest is a incredible event,it's put on by YAMAHA but in the pics you see every brand sled represented and it looks to me like everybody is getting along and having a BLAST...:D Most would think since it's a YAMAHA event the two strokes would be shunned and told to stay away but it seems to me they are more then welcome and I think that shows total class on yamaha's part.:face-icon-small-hap

I've never been to this event but after seeing how much FUN everybody has regardless of sled make or skill level I will be doing my best to try to be there next year.

so what's up with Frenchie and his REV? Did he just eek over the hilll, make a huge run at it, stop in the middle start and again and power right over the top? What's the story with 'the little REV that could'?

So, we are now saying that a sled running Nitrous is stock?? :)

Hey guys, I ask a simple question. I did not ask it in a threatening way and I did not take away from anything accomplished at Yamafest. It's not everyday stock sleds climb these chutes. I simply wanted to find out how they were doing it this year.

This did not get ugly until Lapper made the condescending comment "you keep watching the videos and well keep making them" I thought it was a disrespectful comment given the fact that we ride just as good, build sleds just as big, and climb chutes just as bad. I have never been to Canada riding, but I do ride with several guys who have. I ride with guys who have seen these chutes up close and personal. I know how they compare to the chutes we are climbing here. I have also rode with great riders from Idaho, Wyoming and Utah. Fact is, chutes just as bad as those in Canada were getting pulled by riders all over the country last weekend. If Lapper and the guys think there doing something that is exclusive to Yamafest it's time for a reality check. I respect every attempt made on any chute at Yamafest, but I also realize there are a lot of pulls being made in other parts of the country that deserve the same respect.
