Yamadoo remodeling

THe air enters the manifold already mixed with propane/air.. so I guess, Im not terrible worried about how evenly it distributes, my manifold last year was definately not even close to as evenly distributing as this one... I Might throw something inside it before I cap the ends, but im not super convinced yet.

as far as speed/power... it was fun last year, but between how tight the track was and the way the void of clutch alignment/belt heat, and poorly designed non intercooled turbo system, its gonna be MUCH more powerful on the same boost this year. I would wager my new turbo system is 20% more efficient if not more then my last one.

WELL.. got a little more done, bought more parts.. slowly plugging away at it.

got the skid remounted so the sled is a little lighter on the ski's.. I had drop brackets on the back, but never messed with thte front and it had really f'd up my ski pressure, it was SO nose heavy beacuse of it last year, this should help and make the slow speed manueverability MUCH better, it pops up on 1 ski 10x better in the garage now then it did before, so thats a big plus. got my track in (thanks inkedrider) its a factory doo 162 of an RT with the tips cut off, so its only a 2" track, but its a LOT better then my thrashed attack 20. also happy about going back to the float of the 16 wide. got some fittings for my propane tanks and a sweet quick disconnecter for hooking to a bulk propane tank to fill mine. Its like the ones for air tools, but seals a LOT better. Aside from an adapter or two, the propane system is done.. just needs physical mounting. Got the mixer in its mostly final location, the airbox needs to be messed with a hair and moved closer to the motor to allow the mixer to fit and not bulge out of hte headlight socket. Im working on figuring out my tube nose cone/bumper right now... but I think I can get it here soon like.. the ideas are still brewing, and I dont need that for it to run. Hopefully this afternoon I can pop the rear motor mount back out, finish it up and then put it in for good and call the motor attached. and dont worry, but blue silicone elbow into the mixer is just sitting there as a mock up, its not the right size. Also gotta knock the end off the airbox a tad, should help with the clearance for the charge tube. I am also working on a way to bolt the airbox to the motor so it CANT blow off.

Oh boy. Im glad someone is getting something done. Looks good.

PS. Steel intake Manifold??? what will come next, Tractor weights in the front. haha

Ill be looking the other way when i see the rear end sinking deep. JK

Well, thats not as bad as my expanded steel idea the other day I told you, I think you wanted to cry when I said it.

but yeah, its coming along good.. im actually getting things done on it that are permanent, not just screwing off and messing with stuff. got my chaincase all cleaned up and back together, so drivetrain is done from the secondary back. I finished reinstalling the motor mounts, tightened it all down, shes IN.the only thing is my c-c on the clutches is now a hair long, but I can adjust that with belt deflection on the secondary easy like. as far as motor in the chassis, its within an 1/4" over 8'... meaning im within half a degree of perfectly aligned.. kinda scary eh?? how did I do that? got my battery mounted right in front of the motor(more centralized mass) the thing is really working good, just lots of little things to remount and find homes for, but thats not a lot of thinking, just a lot of doing.

If my welder ever gets my header done Ill start plumbing lines to the turbo and finish the charge tube.(dont worry josh) I also need to get my outlet tube welded on my intercooler.. but all in good time.

got my tank mounts figured out as well, just need to weld some stuff up.

Im working a lot harder this season on paying attention to line routing and trying to clean things up so its not a total rats nest under the hood.

more pictures..

got my charge tube done up. header is pretty close to done, just a few more holes to fill up in it. working on finishing the airbox.. one end is capped, just need to do the other side and then cut down the runners a bit.. its all coming along. oh yeah, and I am moving the gauges around a little to protect them more as I discovered I like to crash a lot.. whoda thunk right??

I do the steel parts I need with a MIG< and outsource my TIG stuff to jskattum606... hes the man. like my charge tube is just thin wall exhaust tubing, I would go aluminum, BUT, the time and money involved with the minor weight savings isnt worth it to me.. IM still in college, so function is my big thing.

not the fanciest thing in the world, but I have a mig, so I make due.. could shave a few pounds if it was all Alum, but I would need a $1000+ welder to do that, or basically enslave josh to weld it all for me.

alright.. MOAR got done. header is finish welded, just needs a BIT if die grinding inside to clean up the back of the welds, etc etc. WIll get pictures of all this stuff, just gotta get some time to waste here soonish.

tanks have all the fittings installed on them, just gotta seal up the filler fitting here real soon, Its nifty, it fills throught the hatch in the rear of the seat, kinda funny lookin.

if I can get things done up the sled should be going out for a test spin come saturday or sunday in the grass, im VERY excited about messing with it and seeing if it actually moves and sorta works.

got my silicone connectors in the mail.. installed etc.

installed my propane tanks and put pressure to them, but realized im an idiot and didnt use gas rated thread sealant and pretty much every connection leaked(very safe). Takign that appart and retaping joints soon like. but the tanks and seat and everything fit together nicely with them in the place.

intercooler had a few pinholes on the welds, so its getting a quick touch up saturday, also worked on the plastic fitting around the mixer.. still unsure of my nose cone situation. header is getting cleaned up inside tommorow.. still on for the weekend.

and some pictures to feast on.

IT RAN!!.. having lots of issues getting smooth consistant starting, but my battery is also very dead, so it doesnt pull fuel in very well either. got some really crappy videos before I got any consistant running, but it did fire, and long enough to get the coolers fully heated and all. I need to retape on pipe joint on the tank that has a TINY leak in it, and then I will fill the tanks up pretty far and try more tuning on it.

congrats :face-icon-small-hap.do you have to advance ignition timing when running propane?i'm a little worried with your TPS solution.have you verified that your tps unit reads the same as the one one stock carbs.(same reading through hole trottle cycle)friend of mine burned down his rx1 which he run SA fuel injection on.he used trottle bodies and tps sensor from a sportbike.it gave him too much advance ignition in midrange cruise.

looks good

Looks and sounds good. i remember this time last year you couldn't even get the motor to rev with the belt off. So this is definately good. I can't wait to here ho it works on the grass.

thanks guys, im realy proud of this thing so far, we shall see if I cant get it really rocking here today if I end up with some spare time. after last season with the carbs and how long that took to figure out, I was definately nervous about this whole propane thing, BUT, im a little more optimistic now.

awesome man! wish i had a 1/3 of the skill you have! i need to head down to bozo this winter and go for a ride with you and josh phillips...i wanna see this beast run!

still waiting on some grass.... oh well

I started building a tube nose cone for the thingg to protect everything as the stocker was totally destroyed, hopefully get a good bit of that done today, then the sled will be pretty much done for the winter(minus tuning and perpetual fixing)
