Yamadoo remodeling

ya like above WOW....i would hate to run out of juice not like you could pack a extra tank ....

Most excellent!! :face-icon-small-coo You are doing such a wonderful job...can't wait to see it when you are back here. In the meantime the pics & vids are nice. :)

oh but you can.. i got a hose to feed me from a bbq tank.. crude.. but very effective.

and as for the tps.. the doo carb one is all within spec givin in the yami service manual.. so that gives me confidence. i just gotta crunch a few numbers to see what i need to set it at from idle.. its got slotted holes so you can adjust the whole deal... but i think i can make it just bolt onto the side of the throttle boddy pretty easy like.. again.. just gotta play with it.. the nauture of the beast.. they are both off mikuni carbs. and considering they are the same pattern, im guessing they use the same protocol. just gotta figure out which wire to which plug.

i think for now im just gonna be running it off a bbq tank and take my other ones out and figure something out with building a new one.. hope to get on that pretty soon as dealing with these stupid little tanks and leaky fittings is getting old.. im ready to do it right. sick of blowing propane all over the garage trying to get it to work lately..

you need to put a screw on connector and pack several of the small cans in a back pack and :pray2: you dont run out on a long hill pull.....lol

now?? or always... you take em off and fill em with water first to get all the propane out.. i might be dumb, but im not stupid...

but i may end up getting a large single tank.. not sure yet, still working on the timing issues.. then onto tanks. those are simple physical issues, not actual figuring issues.

also, after talking to BCboost, the BC installer/dealer for the HP3 setups he advised me to advance the overall timing by 6*.. so im currently digging into the mag and slotting the holes on the pickup to move it over and advance the timing.. also just waiting on a plug in end for my tps because i think im having issues with the wirings touching right now freakin the ecu out still.. so we shall see how that works out for me.

-=edit=-
I ended up just ordering a single long 12 gallon tank.. it doesnt really fit under the seats so sneaky anymore.. but it holds a LOT of fuel, so i dont really have to worry about running out.. 12 is more then enough to keep me ticking all day. i might use the tanks i have as little spare refuelers if i find i need more capacity. BUT< i like the idea of the large single so i don't have to fight the stupid thing with getting the connections from leaking, and the new take has better port placement so i can fill em faster/easier. Im just still royally pissed off that they sold me those tanks with such grossly exaggerated volumes.. alas, we live and we learn, its the nature of the beast. but im happy, and this should work out much better for me.

well.. more good sucessful news.. I just have to wait for my buddy to cut the tps wiring harness end off his sled(dont worry the harness is getting junked already) and then i can hard wire it in.. currently have it running with NO check engine light.. HURRAY!!! and also, sloted out my timing pickup bolt holes and did an overall advance of 6* per recomendations by simmons inc. I currently now have a LOT more timing overall compared to before.. so time to get it back up and put together and take it for a test rip.. very happy about this, this new level of timing hsoul help increase throttle response.. and now that im on a normal timing map, should run better as well

good

good, This should be alot better to not be fighting all the trouble codes. I wish I had ability to control my timing on my sled. It would be nice to have alot of advance until the boost comes on.

Please get some video of it running even if your having trouble still maybe someone will be able to identify the problem.

You should ditch your seet and go with a dirtbike seat or an RMK seat. If you can't hide the bottle, might as well show it off, it would also give you great access, and loose some pounds. I built a stand up seat out of my RMK take off seat for my IQR racer and it looked sweet and worked great. And talk abot wow facter, having a freestle seat on a rt 1000 wiht a propane burning turbo'd yamaha motor.... Kind of a bit off the beaten path.

i wish i could do some video.. my dang camera is freakin out and wont work, if i go out this weekend ill have somebody with me to help out with the battle.

and yes, it will be nice, the only light flashing on the dash is the fuel level sensor(i wonder why)

brad.. i like the idea.. ill have to steal brandons seet and see what it looks like on my scooter.. probably pretty badass.. i could just hollow one out and make it attach to the tank, put some small tabs on it to attach it to.. i like this.. time to play with it.. dont need a lot, just something to sit on.. and the less covering around the turbo, the better.. more heat getting out!!

well.. new tank showed up today.. HOLY CRAP!!! its HUGEEEEEE gotta chop the legs lof it and reshape them so they fit my mounting brackets, and just so it drops it down as low as i can get it to the tunnell... gotta grab a few more gittings to plug up some of the extra holes.. its definately heavier then i wanted, but its going to be nice to just have an honest 11.5 gallons of fuel in the tank.. thats a LOT. might be able to make my hacked out stock seat fit over it.. not sure, might end up working on something else, but thats just a silly little detail. i got a test tongiht, so no work on it, but tommorow i iwll pick up some fittings after work in the AM and get rippin on it.. im excited, gonna work out nicely. and this tank is safe to 300psi with a burst of 800.. considering i have a 180 psi pressure releife, im VERY comfortable straddling it.

wow thats going to look nuts! thats a big tank. seat is going to be interesting... just wrap a piece of cloth over it and it will look like a seat haha not very comfortable tho!

Wow Nick, I can really respect you for your perseverance and determination as well as all your hard work and hours spent on this sled. Granted, I'm sure you've learned a lot about different systems and ways of going about doing things but I've just got to say that your determination far exceeds your workmanship.

There are some things that you can get away with 'farmer design' but when you start throwing around different ideas with propane, I've got to question the point at which inventiveness turns to a high possibility for disaster especially given your track record of leaking propane out of your sled for 3 hours on your first attempt. Take your time and do it right. Don't rush the project and cut corners. Seriously, right now you are riding a bomb with a short fuse. Don't kill yourself man.

I think i come across a lot different then i actually am thought wise, especially as far as my saftey concerns go.... theres a lot more going on then i type up on snowest.

besides the goal of a larger tank, i wanted 1, it will simlifly mounting, way less fittings( I was worried about hard lines fatiguing from vibration), less possability of leakage... and the steal tank is WAY stronger, im a lot more comfortable with how it would handle a roll or large impact, or just the constant high pressures. the whole propane deal is getting a LOT more thought now that im actually installing things for good to last all season. after the little exploded line, spending a lot more time carefully routing lines, making sure things are heat shielded.. etc etc. it doesnt take but once to knock some sense into you with playing wiht it. now that i have had it out, and have gotten that out of my system, im working on the the fine little details.. the things that ruin days(or lives)

glad some people are looking out for me.

got my new tank on.. i like installing brass fittings into steel tanks.. first try.. not a single leak. BOOYAH!!! got the stock seat cut up more and stretched over it.. kinda looks goofy, but it is what it is for now.. something to sit on. a little bit of a high rise now, and pretty cushy still, not plush, but soft enough to ride on for a while. the new tank setup with the bleeder on top makes filling a BREEZE..

currently working on plexi glass plating to cover the nose cone area up some more... workin good so far. its interesting having clear paneling. i will get some picutres of it when im done.

Nice, I want to seee what this paneling consists of and how light it is. Maybe i can utilize it on my project somewhere

a few pictures, still struggling with boost transition with the propane system. got some people helping me on that thgout, lets hope i can get something figuerd out.. poor seat is all thrashed up.. and no, you cant actually touch the intercooler, theres a layer of plexi-glass in there.. and yes, the tank is HUGE!!! also got a little bit of screen covering up the nose hole so snow doesnt pack in it.

its definately not pretty, ill be the first to admit that, fit and finish is about as bad as things get... but plastic doesnt make it go fast.. the sled is a never ending prototype.. so yeah, its no pretty.

also fought with the pickup line for the regulator pressure reference. got it dang close, still has a tiny lean slowdown if you hold it WOT from low rpm.. back off it any and your fine.... might be good enough to run with some load on it so the turbo comes in quicker, just hard to say, if we get enough snow in the alley ill take it for a rip tommorow.. i am gonna try to get it dialed and running good as im takin it to cooke on sunday.
