Both of my sleds don't have snow flaps (sorry for those that hate this) and as you can see the roost is quite a bit. So traction was an issue. This could be another excuse for the Cat too:rolleyes:. It was making so much power it was spinning and not getting to the ground:o.

You think they'll be fun at 10psi try one at 15+psi:eek::eek:. Clutching gets a little heavy and takes some of the all around fun out of riding it in different conditions, but piont and shoot yeah buddy:D.

I need to get one up against a TM-8 for comparisons:beer;. Not for any grudge match or anything like that, but just an all for fun boost for boost comparison. I'm sure I will have quite a few takers. I just like the response @ the low boost for good all around riding. 10-12 recommended psi is good for that.

Thats why it looked a little slow. Also looked like bots sleds weren't getting very good traction on the hard slushy snow.

Jake,
Something tells me you have a file elsewhere too:D:beer;. Give me a call Thursday or Friday if you get a chance. Call me on my cell 605-484-6822. I have a few different irons burning now so I would suggest to anyone interested at least get your 50% deposit in and get a file of your own started. I think I will be *** deep come fall and winter and I will do my best to get the orders out, but we all want to ride and not wait on parts:mad:.

The closest I would come would be a banzi trip to BC for a install and demo for a Ski-Doo dealership we're working on a deal for. That would be soon, probably in the next couple months. I still need to get my passport. I will be making some demo trips this winter to Wyoming, Montana, Colorado, Idaho and Utah. This wont be an all in one trip but something throughout the winter. Unfortunately Washington and Oregon are a little far. If money allows we'll see though. I need a set-up that has access to good all around riding close to the parking lot so I can get exposure and people can come see what we have to offer and go for a spin. Not looking to spend all day in the back country with just a few guys. That will happen after all the demoing is done the first day or two. These details I will have to work out later and will need the help from fellow Snowesters.

Dave

I did. I like how that looked. I think my current setup would be similar to the modded one you had...That gives me faith

Hell, if ive already got my own file I better atleast call you and make arrangements to send you some money!! I have a few questions for ya, maybe a proposition or two. Were you planning to show up at the Puyallup Snow Show in Washington?? Not sure on a date..

Hahaha now what would make you think that  I will give you a ring. I have been doing some thinking...got a couple ideas.

Anyway, ill give ya a ring Thursday or Friday.

Oh ya, and as for M8's to test against...Does Valley of the Chutes mean anything to anyone??? Mine will definatly see some head to head shootouts with some stout M's, all running 15++ lbs so we will definatly see how the Doo fairs in a knock down, drag out battle. Cant wait to see how she fairs....

What fuel would be required to safely run a 10psi 800 turbo motor?

We have VP C12 locally ($15/gallon :( ) but it's full race fuel 108 motor octane and I'm guessing overkill for a 10psi motor. Could I cut it say 50/50 with pump 87 and still be safe?

And what about aviation fuel? I think I can get it for $6/gal or so.

Thanks

Dave, I'd suggest you come to Alpine WY for a demo. Lots of people to demo and some of the best terrain out west.

Let me know if you do!

Jay

I am in for a demo ride in Alpine like Watch This said, there is incredible terrain and I think alot of people from Idaho and Utah would come out to see these bad boys run.

I was thinking about a cat turbo but after that You Tube vid, I need to look into this kit very seriously!! Keep us updated on out West tours.

No not really. The Rev is on the operating table. She has been abused long enough and we need to get it back together for Hay Days. It needs a new nun and a rebuild on the engine. We actually locked that engine up at least 3 times that I can remember and never did tear it down. Just broke it loose and boosted away. Sometimes in the R&D side of things you have to have a sacrificial mule:D. This was it. The engine still runs fine. It has served it's purpose and now it gets some TLC.

The Rev kit would be similar to the XP with the only difference being the routing of the charge tube and the turbo mounting bracket. Every other component is the same. The one we have is built different than the production kit too.

Dave Halverson

DW. do you have any pics of the REV kit?

We have ran straight pump fuel on the 600ho big bored turbo test sled, with very specific conditions. What elevation do you ride? This more than anything will dictate the required octane. We need the heat to make the turbo spin and the higher octane doesn't generate as much heat and is no doubt a waste if you don't need it. There was a elevation/boost/fuel chart in the post somewhere that I am going to stay true to for recommendations to cover my you know what. The main question is though, what elevation do you primarily ride?

Need to bump this. It is conservative, but I do have to cover myself.

Thought I would post the latest info on the XP-T kits from R&D Custom Turbo Werx. The turbo reeds are in the line up for programming and should be ready ahead of the original release date of late summer, early fall. The exhaust parts I sent off should be back this week and I can start machine bending them on a computer aided CNC mandrel bender for consistancy and repeteablity. This is better for me because I don't have to hand build all the tight radius bends in the exhaust and for you it makes a cleaner looking kit. I hope to get one final test in within the next couple of weeks so I can also get some video for everyone :D:D. Should have 2 XP-T's (1-154" and my 163") and I'll also take my turboed Cat (162") for fun. Might also take a stock 09 163'' for stock vs turbo compare :D.

Since I have been working on the install and operating instructions I wanted to post the elevation/boost/fuel requirements I am recommending. We have deviated from these for our own testing purposes, but I will have to stick with these for the consumer. If you go outside of these recommendations--YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN!

These are recommendations for fuel requirments with fuel pressure @ an idle pressure of 3-5psi.

1500' 5-7 psi 91 or better pump and race fuel 50/50
7-9 psi 108+ MON race fuel 100%
9-10 psi 112+ MON race fuel 100%
At 1500' elevation we do not recommend any boost over 10psi.

3000' 5-7 psi 91 or better pump and race fuel 70/30
7-9 psi 91 or better pump and race fuel 50/50
9-10 psi 108+ MON race fuel 100%
10-12 psi 112+ MON race fuel 100%

6000' 5-7 psi 91 or better pump and race fuel 50/50
7-9 psi 91 or better pump and race fuel 70/30
9-10 psi 108+ MON race fuel 100%
10-12 psi 112+ MON race fuel 100%

8000' 5-7 psi 91 or better pump fuel 100%
7-9 psi 91 or better pump and race fuel 70/30
9-10 psi 91 or better pump and race fuel 50/50
10-12 psi 108+ MON race fuel 100%

10000' 5-7 psi 91 or better pump fuel 100%
7-9 psi 91 or better pump and race fuel 70/30
9-10 psi 91 or better pump and race fuel 50/50
10-12 psi 108+ MON race fuel 100%

12000' 5-7 psi 91 or better pump fuel 100%
7-9 psi 91 or better pump fuel 100%
9-10 psi 91 or better pump and race fuel 70/30
10-12 psi 91 or better pump and race fuel 50/50

I know it looks like a lot of numbers and there is no doubt some insurance built in for the fuel recommendations for my security. I think most people will probably find a low boost setting and a high boost setting and stick with that. One boost setting or one fuel is defenately the easiest way to go. Just don't let the chart scare you . It really is easier than it looks. Bottom line is fuel is cheaper than a rebuild and if in doubt run higher octane fuel.

These kits were designed and tested to be sold for 10-12 psi of boost. Until people get used to that then they will start expierimenting on thier own and turn the boost up. I run over 15 psi on my personal sled on a diet of 114 fuel at 6000' and up.

Just some more info to consider.

Thanks Dave for the info. We ride BC mountains Golden, Revelstoke, Valemount, etc. typically staging at trailhead as low as 2000' but riding in the 5000-8000' range.

What I was hoping for was a reliable 225hp machine that I could run on straight aviation fuel or maybe a 70/30 pump/race mix to keep things relatively economical.

I will be using av gas I think. In the past we have run 14 lbs on avgas on a 1010 big bore in Revelstoke...However, I do not believe that the skidoo chamber will handle that much before deto sets in. I will be sneaking up to the line and will be happy to lend info and results to anyone interested...Just need some snow :D

Avgas, 100 LL is rated at 100motor octane.

thats a pretty good figure for up to 15 psi with a reshaped Turbo specific head .

compression ratio would not need to change but design of the oem DOO head is poor .

Using the oem doo head as is,,, I would suggest you stay below 12 psi boost with avgas for long wide open runs..

Av has less light ends than race gas of similar octane would, thus avgas has a bit of a sluggish response nature until you get some heat in the engine itself.. then it levels out again.

Light ends are what makes your fuel fast to evaporate and gives good response to throttle.

Reid vapor pressure is another variable that ALL of yous guys at alltitude should be looking at toooooo...!!!!!:D

Gus:eek::eek:

4000 plus Jake.

I would lower the compression to 11.to 1 and kick timing back 2 for sea level.

Then letterbooooogie........>>>>>

I use c12, 108 motor octane in the 800 at 15 psi sea level 13 to 1 comp.
timing is 13 degrees @8500 squish is .080.

On a long lake run at 12 psi or more the pipe gets so hot at the y and at the outside of the first bend that it discolored the nosecone from black too a FUNKY brownish flemm color...:confused: lol

out of the box wiseco's and locked open valves...I use the snocross ignition too...

I've run it as much as 22 psi for runs of 8.-12 seconds at hilldrags and on the pond .

03 800 open mod is what the mule started life as..
now shes a slammed 136 ice only prostocker. getting fitted with an 860 , and a hybrid 2876 .

I will get some pics on here in a couple days..pretty cool low budget special.

Gus

Do you see a gain in output when compression is lowered along with your head mods gus?? And is that 03 lakerace drag thing using an 800r or an 800 HO as a base motor?? What is your opinion of a hogged out cylinder and boost for pounding on the mountains??

Thanks for all the info!!

will this kit work on my big bore elan? ive up graded it to efi and run a 153 challenger extreme under it, also has a rev 800 big bore engine.
elancopy.jpg

Your not letting all the secrets out are you Gus;):beer;?? Your gonna make me build this 900 before I'm ready if Jake is sending you his head for mods I need to be at least 2psi more than him, reliably.

Thanks for your input on the post Gus:beer;.
