xm vs pro

It hides the weight really well. The steering feels different and not being used to it I wasn't completely comfortable. The front probably feels heavier but not much. It doesn't have the heavy countersteer like the xp. I was comparing it to my buddies bone stock 155. He was short a few r's but I think the xm was only turning 7800. I think they are both awesome sleds for stock. My wife even rode the xm and said she could ride one and she loves her 12 pro. My biggest complaint was turning uphill when it was on it's side and the steering was different. The steering isn't necessarily abad thing. I just wasn't used to it coming off a pro.

Agreed, Matt's video is crazy, I could feel my A-arms and plastic crunching just watching. I would need a timbersled kit on my bike to go in those places (which I am toying with). About the skidoo vs Polaris Q; I had several doos ending with my 09 xp. I thought they were awsome cause we rode trail and climbed when open enough to manuver, thought sidehilling meant standing with both feet on one side of the sled. Then rode with different guys and realized I loved my sled on the trail and hated it everywhere else. Nothing more embarassing than chasing your sled down a hill cause you lost your sidehill and it got away. Rode a friends pro and was sold, learned how to ride it and now very hard to get on anything else. That being said all my friends on 11-13 doos love their sleds too. I get on them but they feel different and I'm not that good at adjusting to a new setup very quickly so I just give them back.

I own them both, ride with three other XM's and one Pro... I will honestly say I am kinda still a Ski-doo guy used to have all ski-doo until after my XP I went to a Turbo Nytro.

After three trips out to the mountains compareing my Pro with my XM and all the other XM's, I can honestly say the Pro out does the XM about everywhere. If the XM does have 20hp it sure as hell doesn't put it to the snow. I have yet to see an XP or XM out run a Pro in ANY type of drag race. They are either very even or the Pro will pull the Ski-doo.

The two huge obvious difference are the Pros ability to pop up and out of the snow and the biggest difference is the Pro seems to never give up on a climb and auger out. It just keep going, it's crazy to me, sometimes I don't think the sled is even moving but just keeps tractoring foward, where the XM will just give up and trench down and be done.

Just my honest opinion, everyone in our group has formed the same opinion. I have no dog in the fight and I am not brand loyal to any brand

For a 6'4" 235 lbs guy the XM is a no brainer !

And why is that??? have you ever rode a Pro?

My uncle is 6'1 pushing 400lbs this last wkd he jump off his XM and tried my Pro. I honestly didn't think he would like it but said he loved it. Said it stayed up on the snow a lot better. Where he had to side hill out on the XM the Pro would tractor its way straight up with him on it on same hill.

I seen the xm get stuck in a meadow. I guess the gal said she enjoys getting stuck. Maybe that's how she rated the sleds.

Back to the 04 rev it ride like a piece of ***t, my wedge rode way better. I don't think the Pro and the rev were built on the same platform.
The new XM is very close to the Pro's build, put two picture of the Pro and the XM together and the only thing different is the stearing angle. Everything else lines up. That is why the ride is very close to the same.

I don't think they ride anything like each other. The xm actually rides better do to the rider forward design. The xm just needs to lose some weight. If the two handled the same why buy the xm when it is 53 pounds heavier. I know it doesn't show it when riding it. In 08, xp's were almost as light as the pro. I know they claimed 15 pounds between 800r and etec. Where did all the weight come from. I know they will never be as light as the poo because i'll bet there is 20 pounds difference in the motor. I would take 20 pounds difference to not have to worry about the motor and a 4 year warranty. I would love to see doo skinny the boards and body an inch on each side and put verticle steering on it and then it would be the bomb. You don't need all that board if you have traction. They could get then get rid of that center rib that is going to hold snow. This would help with the paneling out.
As far as the pro it would be nice if you didn't have to worry about reliability. It would also be nice if they ran their heat exchangers in the middle so they didn't build as much ice on the side of the tunnel. They should come with a tether from the factory. I guess that is my wish list.

I absolutely love my pro, ridden it 5 times so far in the last two weeks. Not one complaint other than Im not totally use to it yet. The thing keeps digging where my old IQ would of been burried 100yds prior. Even going to hell and back with my brother last week I only legitamitally got stuck twice. This was a ride where the skis were squeezing between trees every 5ft or so. I wasnt having much fun, but my sled kept on going luckily for me! Im 6'4" 185lbs and this thing is perfect fit.

i'm glad everybody agrees that a xm will spank a pro silly.

You must not be reading the same thread as the rest of us?

I think it's unfair to say that any of the 3 competing brands "spank" anyone. I think different people fit different machines and you just have to decide which of the 3 are easiest to ride for you. Throw brand loyalty out the window.

The Pro RMK was the best selling sled last year and so far, still is this year. Think about that. How many flat landers in the midwest and north east do you think there are? Yet a dedicated mountain sled took top honors. Thats incredible.

I will say that I was absolutely blown away at how easy the XM was to roll over. This was in a show room so I'm not sure how much water it holds, but I reefed on a Pro 155 and could barely get that thing on edge. I was disappointed and left hoping that the sled reacts differently in the snow. I then went and gave a XM 54' that same tug and about pulled the damn thing over the top of me. BLOWN away.

I wish Oregon had an AC dealer close to central because I would love to demo one before I decide, but I think it's fair to say that they are ALL good machines.

I have friends that have ridden the Pro and I have friends who have ridden the XM. My dad rides an '11 etec with an XM suspension and he says it's unlike anything he's ever ridden. In my opinion the XM wins. But at least we can all be honest with each other on one thing. They both beat the Cat and the Nytro...

How can you have an opinion if you haven't rode either?? And the 13 m8 actually rides pretty dang good. Way better than the 12. It is more than enough machine to have some serious fun in the mountains. Each has different ergos and will fit some people better than others. Anyone buying for more power or climbing ability is a doorknob...because the 4 stroke kitty or any turbo you run across will have you stock 800 covered anyways.

I bet you can't wait till you can have an opinion based on your own experience, not what your friends and your dad tell you.
Makes your opinion seem a bit suspect to give it much credence.
