WORST MECH IN DENVER,CO AREA

I unfortunaly found a really found a really bad shop. Please don't go over
to PEAK POWERSPORTS. My new mech is now rebuilding my whole entire motor because of this guy. Something just didn't seem rgt so i took it to someone i knew trusted. Not even 5 min in and i'm getting phone calls about how guy
over @ peak screwed up the sled. Starting with the oil line was not hookeds
up, which was the cause of me now replacing the pistons, bearing shot on the
clutch side. Had recently had him put on snow eliminators where he over cut
on the tunnel and used the eliminators to hide that he cut into the tunnel too much. I have k+n filters on carbs and they are screwed up, and instead of telling me about it, he jst decided to put them back on i guess. Last time in his shop, sled wasn't running so i told him to go through the whole thing and do a carb clean. Had old gas in and he never cleaned out tank and didn't put anything in gas to stabalize it. He's real good on making up excuses on everthing but taking responsibility for his mistakes. After me and the new mech
contacted alpine and d+d motors, they could'nt believe with what was done to my sled, it even was running. Numerous other riders i know have used him in the past and all have had similar problems of him screwing up their sled.
Dude is a real hack. I'm planning on reporting him to the bbc.
Anyone looking for a real good mech email this guy. He is fantastic and goes over the top to make sure nothing is wrong and forsees any future problems you might have

SLED SUPPLY

Ask for bill

He can also give you more details on what a itiot this guy is. So many things wrong I can't even remember the whole list.

Did you text that from your cell phone? It is very hard to read which makes it harder to believe.

no problems

nothing but good here on my end from jet ski rebuilds to m1000 tuning. even the boys in kremtucky have had bad days and blown stuff up. it happens.

Peak

the reason i did not work on it at that time was i had moved 2000 miles away , but by the way the sled looked and ran i should have came back to fix it. I was there when he talked to rick , rick said i never touched that until my buddy said them how come i was billed for it than he got mad and said i have been doing this for 14 years dont tell me how to fix things and hung up on my buddy real class act

peak

I talked to this guy. I was wondering what happened. Then after I went over to bills shop + lokked @ this guys sled + talked in detail about what all happened, I shocked that peak denied that they did nothing wrong. I was a loyal customer @ peak, but I had bill look over my sled. to my dismay, I didn't think he would find anything wrong. But low + behold bill found numerous things screwed up also. Just to say I'm using sled supply from now on. Dude is fantastic.

Is it just me, or do both 1010's seem kind of vague and lacking in their typing skills.

I am assuming by your user names, both you guys are running D&D 1010 mods, which are not pull and go sleds. Not the type of motor you want to rely on others to keep tuned.

If you are going to bash on someones livelyhood, please be more specific as it sounds like there is more to this story.

I personally do not know any details about Peak, but I do know the frontrange could use more powersports shops. Hopefully someone will reply with the rest of the story.

Hope you guys see what everyone is driving at here. One 1010 has 7 posts and the other has 45 posts. Post counts don't mean you know what you are talking about, but do mean you have been around for awhile.

Products and companies get bashed around here a lot. Some deserve it, many don't. In tough times, it would be a bad thing if you were responsible for taking business away from a company when there was a misunderstanding or small screw up. I don't blame you for being pissed if your machine is screwed up. But try to make them fix the situation and go from there. It's not like we are all going to pick up our pitch forks and form a mob anyway.

Oh... really? Well crap, what're we doing here then? I had my pitchfork all ready to go:face-icon-small-win

If someone really screws up & doesn't man up & take care of it, then they deserve to be bashed, but I have to admit the vagueness makes things seem kinda fishy.

peak details

ok, you want details, It might be a little long. Here we go
I had my mod sled built by alpine. And we all know eric is the best in the country.
After that rick was recomended highly by a friend. Oh by the way he screwed up my friends xp and another friends quad he was working on. STARTING TO SEE THE PATTERN!
I have pictures, and documentation from my new mechanic of everything that went wrong. No one has worked on this sled except peak. He doesn't have a leg to stand on. And yes i contacted him on all these issues. half way through the conversation it was evident that he wasn.t gonna man up and hung up on me. And i didn't just turn him loose on my sled my options we're driving 3 hrs one way to have eric work on my sled because my current mechanic moved back to boston and rick seemed to know what he was doing. Over time something seemed to be slightly wrong, but i couldn'nt put my finger on what was wrong, til now.

peak details

Not even 5 minutes and I started getting calls.
1st. When pulling off trailer oil started leaking out belly pan.
2nd. When scoping pistons noticed magnito side pitson was severly damaged with lots of scraping on piston.
3. There was a hole in exast that was never brought to attention.
4. For some reason the oil line was not hooked up to engine.
5.The last time in his shop i needed carbs cleaned old gas removed.

He never removed the old gas to clean out tank,(rick told me he does'nt
clean out tanks.) I guess he wanted to charge me again when the seaon
started.
6. Boots on my k+n filters on carbs we're screwed up and needed to be
replaced.

I not sure why he never brought this to my attention.
7. Jack shaft bearing was toast needed to be replaced.
8. Had the wrong jetting in the carbs.

According to d+d and alpine he was off by 100 points.
9.No gausket on manifold.
10. Coolant was leaking into the engine and the water pump seal was
leaking all over.

This was suppose to be addressed and fixed last year. But I guess not.
11. Never put in star tron in tank of gas.

When asked why. He didn't even know that all gas starts deterating
after 2 weeks and should be put in everytime its in the shop in case
owner doesn't ride within 2 weeks
12. Choke cables we're out of adjustment.

One was wide open and the other was closed.
13. Rear suspention bolts we're loose and almost we're falling off.
14. When installing snow eliminators he over cut the hole by 4" on one
side and cut the hole and the elimnators crooked as hell and the
Holes he pre-drilled we're missed on the elimnators. Then put the elimnators on the hid his mistake
15. Side bearing on the magnito side needed to be replaced.
16. When put on new skiis, they we're toed out + out of camber
17. The needles clip we're put in the wrong position
18. The gas and air screws we're adjusted wrong. Air was wide open and
Gas was closed
Which was the side the piston failed also.

When looking for a mechanic I want one that notices these items going
wrong before something goes wrong, not rebuilding the motor.

Just so you don't feel lonely...

once upon a time a few years back... I took my sled to a shop (no longer in business) after being highly recommended by a friend and seeing that the owner knew his stuff with motors... Well he turned his new hire's loose to do the work on my sled and I got my baby back with a nice fat bill and some seriously ****tty work done to it.

Nuts missing on Y-pipe, Untightened bolts on multiple frame pieces, skipping rivets where they weren't readily visible, extra holes drilled into aluminum because measuring wasn't done, found out parts were used off of my sled for other projects while it was there, ...etc.. etc... etc...

It was a great lesson, and made me realize just how rewarding it is to do most of the work myself.

If you are one lucky enough to find a good sled mechanic definitely let us know who to use for the really hard stuff, Thanks!!!
