Wolves removed from Endangered Species list

Funny!

If anyone really wanted a pelt - all's yuh had to doo was buy one in Canada. They sell wolf gloves every day, but I have been wanting to splurge for the lynx ones personally. :p

hhhmmm so you boys want to know how to hunt wolfs well i have shot a bunch & most were not by chance.what is it worth to you.:D:beer;

Don't get your hopes up guy's. On the 28th when management is supposed to be turned over to the states, the anti's have lawyers lined up for miles to tie up any actions proposed by State F&G's requiring it to be approved through state legislation where they can counter attack every bill presented , causing it to be delayed for years in paperwork. Thing are just beginning and if we don't keep battling against them, management is still along ways off!

Well I've never hunted em, but I do know that the wolfy will come into a nice road killed deer that is thrown out(we were hoping for coyotes). I'd imagine if you are patient and a good shot you will get one, every living thing has patterns.

Jeese, I'll keep ya in mind just as soon as I get my own. It could be awhile though as I have a stipulation that it must come from MN, I'd prefer from Gods Country USA, aka Lake Minnewawa.

just wondering if every person here is a rancher. rancher's i can see being a little pissed about the kiliing of their animals, but what reason does everyone else have. they ate your elk. boo hoo, so did the hunter who got there before you. not trying to be an azz, like i said, ranchers have a legite beef(no pun intended) but everyone else i can't understand.

Well, Wolves impact livestock in many ways. Not only do they cripple, kill your livestock, but we sell our product by the pound. Hard for your livestock to gain weight when they are standing in the fence corner instead of out eating grass and making fertilizer.

As far as sportsman. It comes down to management. Look at your game populations and how they have changed. Especially your calf elk crop and moose. Madison Valley used to be plumb full of Moose, not as many now. Look at the Yellowstone elk calf crop. Very low. That and the herd patterns have changed. ALOT. Look at Alaska, they shoot wolves up there like it is going out of style, because they know lots of Wolves = not alot of moose.

Last, a issue not many have ever put a finger on is safety. Drive outside of Cameron MT, where the Wedge pack was, and ask locals there how many dogs have been lost to wolves. I know one instance where two wolves killed a blue heeler that ran into his dog house. I know it is a what if, but What if my niece and nephew was in that yard. I don’t want to imagine.

like i said, i have no problem with ranchers wanting to protect their herds, totally understandable. but hunters are just boo hooing. they ate MY elk, they ate MY moose. like i said earlier, so did the hunter who got heir first. safety is another issue that i see as important, and thus far skogen is the only one to raise that issue. sounds like everyone else is just pissed that they actually have to HUNT instead of just getting out of their vehicles. i know not all of you are like that, just what it sounds like

Actaully you have to manage them the same as Elk and deer.
If you don't allow some form of hunting (for wolves) they can over populate an area and totally wipe out the food supply. That is when safety will become a major issue.

As for hunting from a truck or runnin em down. I am willing to bet that is keyboard hunting.

Exactly,

Don't think anyone is saying completely get rid of, but you have to manage the numbers to maintain survival numbers of the other species.

Yes, but that management cannot be a bottomless pit for our tax dollars either. Face it, the MTFWP cannot manage our existing wildlife, let alone their own checkbook.

again, not being as dick, but isn't that natural selection. too many elk = more wolves. the wolves eat the elk, thus not enough elk for that many wolves, and they begin to die off, thus allwoing more elk. it's a natural cycle. like global warming and cooling, and i know where most you stand on that one, so i don't really see the difference here. now if they are starting to attack people in towns or livestock, that's a whole different story

Well, the wild game will move if pushed, or lack feed. Wolves will in theory follow the wild game. Where in reality, they do not. They kill the easiest thing they can. Old, young, the unlucky.

The one flaw to the "Ideal" plan of natural selection and that there will be so many wolves supported by their foodsupply is this: After extinguishing their foodsupply, they will go after anything else they can eat. Primarily livestock.

Remember, our forefathers before us were not ideots. Wolves were wiped out for a reason. In the US and in Europe also. Also, how many have seen a wolf kill. Atleast a mountain lion will kill its prey before consuming it.

This is what happens when they get into your Registered Heifers....

You know what gets my goat on this issue is everybodys opinions. Ever notice opinions are like @$$holes, just some are bigger then others??

I was reading the article in the Billings Gazette, and I am horrified. Wolves were pushed on to us, we were told to get used to it. Were not given a choice. I could not belive the opinions comming from people that have no idea on the issue, they dont care, they just want them because they are wild and saw one in a movie once. Dont get me wrong, I dont know $hit either, but come on.

I constantly see people bash the land owner and rancher for stating that WE DONT WANT THEM. They are bashing the true stewards of the land. In agriculture today, you have to be a good operator, otherwise you will not survive, that includes taking care of your land. Ever notice where most of the wild game winter? Private land. They all say, and please dont take this wrong, I am just ranting, that wildlife belongs to ALL of the public. But yet, I have never see the public pay a pasture bill to feed their wildlife, to fix the fence, ect. I wonder how many cows I truely could run if I had no elk or deer....

I just wish people would become more educated about the issue at hand before opening their mouth. Look at both sides of the issue, and make a educated decision. Not one based off the fact that you need a cause to fight for.

if all have not forgotten our ancestors got rid of this animal for a reason, yes they eat the elk and deer but when they get through with them they move on to your livestock, think about
