Christopher, you may want to have a conversation with those that created Thumpertalk. The paying members can opt out of banner ads.
As PAYING members it is what people want and that is a pretty fair request if you ask me. If we want to see ads we will turn them on.

And thats whats wrong were the customer you should make us feal all warm and fuzzy not be a smart a$$ because we want to know why the site is going to be better if we pay for it

I better post now before this hits 50 and i cant! We sent in our current banner ad on friday, snowest charged us on monday and now just days latter we are now paying to run a ad on a pay site. We knew this was comming but nothing was said on friday. I dont know that we would of placed the ad in the middle of this change. As far a being able to shut off the ads i think it would make the ads a even harder sell. For you doing the math a banner add runs around 250.00 a month and the side ad is even more. Currently their is just under 40 banner ads running and 7-8 paid side banners.

Truthfully I have never purchased anything because of an Ad on the SW. To me they are like junk mail...I dont even look. I buy from sponsors because of their reputation. The flashing crap on the sides is just annoying. If Christopher will not allow us to shut them off at least make them quit flashing.
Interesting point, how much do you think they could charge for ads if nobody was clicking on them?
If it was not for ads on this site there is a mess of mods and products that I have purchased that I wouldn't have as I never new about them.

i wouldnt mind a scratch and sniff 3d popup calender girl add.
On a 3 inch screen 25% of it is taken by flashing crap. Spamming the site with annoying ads wil not make people click them. A good rep will. I bought better boards and had no idea it was one of the flashing ads to the right.

I guess I don't mind the adds on the computer....even though I learn about the products in the ads from threads on here, not the ad
BUT I would love as a paying memember to have access to a ad free site when logging in from the crack berry. I find that even if I'm running wi-fi on it due to the ads (I assume since they always show up) I can only load a quarter of the main 4m page....can't even get past the sled forums to get to General.
Also if and I think it's a big if, we were to be given access to an ad free mobile 4m, I would like to get rid of the chat box. Again don't mind it on th computer but it's dragging on the phone.
And well dangit I need something to look at when the wife takes me shopping for her and the kids.
Those are adjectives, not names. They describe a behavior, not WHO you are. And I'm not saying you ARE dense, but by claiming to not understand what people are getting at it makes you appear so.
I'm also not saying that you shouldn't have ANY attitude at all, you're not aplying for a position as pope for god sake! BUT... when people come on here & ask a legitimate question that ties into an issue that has quite a few people on here frustrated, asking silly questions like "are the ads in your way?" don't help your cause. You ask a leading/loaded question essentially in direct argument against a question that is being asked, this shows up as density, or obstinence to those of us that are looking from the other side of the situation. Which one depends on whether we are to believe that you really don't get it, or that you just want to be difficult back.
At the core of this, people want to FEEL that they're getting SOMETHING for their money aside from knowledge that has given freely by others, so their reaching for you & the admin to give us an excuse to let down our wall & fork over the $$ without feeling like we just got taken. With the way that admin & mods treat the boards it is really hard for those of us on the fence to give our money over.

I'd like to see it be optional. Personally I like the ads. I joined Snowest in December and prior to joining had no idea there was such a thing as an ABS Airbag, for example. I hadn't heard of 509, either. So the ads have been useful to me and I would leave them turned on, but I can certainly see why some people would either rather not or that it slows them down due to viewing on dial-up or mobile.
This is rediculous and since I wasted a few minutes of my time I will reply; I have been a member for just over a year. I will not pay for a forum because it defeats the purpose (I believe it "paying" will keep new members "prospective thought and intellect" out, I would never have gave snowest a chance if I had to pay first. I don't hold it against snowest its their forum- what do you do? I will keep my joe blow member status and just hope the content I want to read is good/helpful til post #50. There are other options and I just found another nice one. Take it for what it is.
