PDF's and Word

Christopher please re-read

Try loading up a 10mb PDF from a NON ADMIN account.

The files are NOT too large, in fact, half of specified limit... The message never pops up... The file just does not load.

On top of that...Try loading any files in "albums" or as an attachment that are not photos... no go.

Regardless of weather or not the Proxy itself is causing the issue or how other things in other parts of Harris are "attached/interacting" with the proxy... The fact remains that the problem arose WHEN the PROXY was inserted.

Value to the advertisers, I know most of them, is being diminished as this problem continues.

I have no reasonable or logical idea of whey Harris is SO reticent to remove the Proxy for a short trial???

Theres a RAT in the house (proxy particpation in the data stream )... Don't let it eat the entire pantry ( PAID member participation OR, more importantly HAPPY USE!!)

Don't be like this....

Please remove the proxy and see what happens.

Please remove the proxy and see what happens.
If you have any understanding of how server arrays work then you know that

to see what happens.

The ENTIRE NETWORK of a dozen servers would all have to be re-configured. And I do not see them doing that unless there is NO viable alternative.

I've had the problem with posting a reply to a thread, it says I am not authorized and to refresh and log in again. It seems to have logged me out. Then my post reply is gone. This has happened numerous times, and sometimes not very long since I had initially logged on.

hey Christopher.

Just giving you a heads up about the 504 Gateway time out. I just received
that msg while replying to post.

On the whole slow thing, it seems like it takes forever to open up the pages after logging in. As of late, have to keep redirecting. (2weeks?)

Please remove the proxy and see what happens.

If you have any understanding of how server arrays work then you know that "One does not simply remove the proxy server" to see what happens.

The ENTIRE NETWORK of a dozen servers would all have to be re-configured. And I do not see them doing that unless there is NO viable alternative.

I actually have a fair amount of resources in this field... but that is besides the point.

The Server was inserted overnight on or around the Oct 22...

It can be removed in the same time frame.

It gets back to my observation on integrity from the prior post.

And I'll keep coming back to this....

You say that we ARE independent...but that is simply not true if a Harris Publications Proxy server is inserted anywhere in the stream between the PAID members and the SnoWestOnline.com servers that we paid for/are paying for.

We are NOT independent/separate if any of the Harris server infrastructure (parent or Proxy) affects the performance of this forums.

Why is the SnoWestOnline.com Forum traffic numbers so valuable to Harris publications that they will go through all this effort not to keep their word to the PAID/PAYING members.

This is just like the Obama/Clinton/George Bush Senior "Talking-heads"

Obama: "You can keep your current health care"
Clinton: "I did not have sexual relations with that woman"
G.B. Senior: "Read My lips, no new Taxes"

HARRIS PUBLICATIONS: (At the time we were switching to paid memberships)

1. SnoWest will no longer share hardware or server resources with the other Harris Publishing web-sites or communities.

Plain and simple... This promise has been broken.

WHY???

From: Harris Publishing
Subject: Big Changes Coming to the SnoWest Forum

Addressing the “Slowness” Problems

After significant discussion and debate, we have decided to move the SnoWest forums off of the main Harris Publishing servers and manage the SnoWest community as a separate, stand-alone entity. This means a few things:

1. SnoWest will no longer share hardware or server resources with the other Harris Publishing web-sites or communities.

2. We’ve ordered brand new switches, firewalls, load balancers, UPSs, file-servers, database-servers, and web-servers exclusively for the use of the SnoWest forums.

3. We’re upgrading the SnoWest forums to the latest and greatest versions of all our software, across the board.

The end result here will be speed, speed, and more speed. The orders for the new infrastructure have been placed, and we anticipate the new hardware will be ready in a few weeks. However, making SnoWest independent and self supporting comes at a significant cost, which brings me to the next issue.

Top 18 Cool Things You’ll Get With Your Membership

Here is a short list of what your membership dollars are going to return back to you! All paying members of SnoWest will receive the following as part of their membership:

1. New, Super-Fast Servers and Software
More than any single other item on SnoWest, we have needed new hardware to meet the growing needs of our members. As you read above, we’re investing heavily into this area, and it’s going to make a HUGE difference. Also, as SnoWest grows beyond our current size, these new servers will allow us to add more capacity “on the fly” as required.

Thats right oh great one.
It CAN be removed in the same amount of time.
Which was a good WEEK to prep the entire network for the deployment.
It did NOT happen at the flick of a switch sometime in the wee hours of October 22nd, and it can't be removed any easier than it was installed.

All I ask is to "Do the Right Thing". I've said my peace.

“A good character is something you must make for yourself. It cannot be inherited from parents. It cannot be created by having extraordinary advantages. It isn’t a gift of birth, wealth, talent, or station. It is the result of your own endeavor. It is the reward that comes from living good principles and manifesting a virtuous and honorable life.

With that noble quality of trust comes the reputation of one who is honest and possesses integrity. These are character traits that will ensure a long and successful career. The greatest asset you can put into your bank is the reputation of being a person of trust.”

The first major fix has just been implemented.
Please let me know if this makes a difference to you.

As I just logged in, it was the FIRST TIME I was able to get directly to the forums without a long delay OR hitting the Gateway Error.

If you still see the error PLEASE LET ME KNOW
