Whos riding the "new" update??

I've had both mine up 3 times now. Other than a few stumbles the first ride, which I think was the pre-mix its been great. Pulls full RPM now and feels stronger than last year. I'm really happy with it.

just an update; We were able to put on about 70 miles last Sunday.
started off with three heat cycles. Put on 35 easy miles. Ran them a little harder on the way home. Out of six dragons, two of them had flat spots
around 5k. Three others had a bad hesitations off idle (after a beer stop and the engine cooled down). It would go away after they were warmed back up.
I am not sure if this was a result of additional oil in fuel tank or not. Carls was going to do some research as to our concerns. All our machines have identical setups, just came back from Carls. Ported, slp pipe, can, helix. Jack said they were all flashed back to original oem 2010 file, not like last years porting setup. Hopefully they will do some testing and reflash them to an updated ported flash. I will keep everybody updated.

1st ride last Thursday.. Totaled about 40miles, sled ran low on R's for about 15miles or so then started to pull 8250 everywhere (no big climbs or anything yet). I thought it felt great, with no hesitation anywhere!

Polaris has us all on a good note considering we were probably 15hp low by the end of last season (after all the blow by). HeII we could be 10hp off the claimed and it would still feel like a rocket!:face-icon-small-hap

Teamescape mine was doing the same as you described but had the bad hesitation or stumble off idle and the flat spot in the midrange. I called the local dealership I deal with on the way home from riding and explaine to them what it is doing and they told me to check all the basics. I pulled the exhaust valves when I got home and found scuffing on the pistons. I called them again yesterday and told them what I found and they said bring it up and they will tear it down. I have not heard from them as of today but I will report what they find as soon as I hear.

It was definetely not improper warmup, I wish I knew what caused it so it could be cerrected but I dont. If its improper warmup then there must be alot of people not warming them up, and even more that didnt warm them up correctly last year.

Hello

Guys that are having problems with scoring you do have the 2 ring pistons, computer map and head installed? Also remember the coating will wear off and look scored but not be actually scored. Also do you have your ethanol wires unhooked. Also make sure you have new gas it does not last long now days. I think warming these sleds up will help alot exspecially since the clearance is tighter now.

I hope all works out.
ares are running awesome!

Mine was good when I checked yesterday after putting about 20 miles on it, other than the fact that it looked like there was a really fine alumunum powder on the tops of the pistons. Talked to my dealer and he didn't know what it could be. Pushed anouther half a tank of gas through it later on, so I'll recheck today. It bogged twice on the top end right towards the end of the ride, but other than that it's been running really crisp. RPM's are still to low. First ride it made 8250 on short bursts, now all I'll get is 8000 at the most. Normal yesterday was 7900-7950. Not so happy about that part.

Was finally able to take mine out today....put about 50 miles on it and I thought it ran awesome. Never had any kind of bobble or hesitation but then I never had one with the old setup. The rpm's hit 8050 to 8100 at first then pretty much 8000 consistently...but that was what I had it clutched for last year with the 65.5 gram weights. I am running the new Team Tied secondary so I will do some tweaking there to see what I can get out of that. I was pretty happy with how it ran with all the changes that were made at once. Was expecting the worst but it ran great. Made a couple of fairly short pulls in 2 to 3 feet of powder toward the end of the day and it would run about 7950 to 8000 rpms with 47 mph track speed.

I rode my sled today 72 miles at 1100 feet elevation - first ride since the update ('09 RMK 800). I had the dreaded flat spot at the 5k rpm range. It was fine if I went from idle to WOT, but if I cruised at 30 mph and then hit the throttle it would fall on its face. I had a similar hesitation last year but not this bad and it didn't occur as often.

Any one find out what the issue is for the flat spot? I really kick myself in the azz for not buying the 700.

I have put 84 miles and two tanks of gas in my updated 800. I am running 50/50 90 premium to 100ll fuel in my dragon. First day it stumbled when i touched the throttle. She had quite a bit of oil in the tank. The second tank of gas still had throttle hesitation. Felt like the timing was off. At 6500 rpms same thing. No bog just it felt like it was missing. Took it to the dealer and they put a new 010 regulator on it. supposedly you should have an 010 regulator on your sled. Going to tomorrow to see how she rips. I do have the Carls clutch kit on it and wow what a diff. I am pulling 8350to 8400 rpms.

Rode my 09 D8 121 after the update - put 100 miles on it Wednesday night in Minnesota - bad cough / flat spot between 5,500 and 6,500 RPM's. Below or above that seemed OK but did not push it hard. Never had that issue last year up until the motor blew with 2,321 miles on it. Took it back to the dealer Thursday - they called today and said they recognized the dead spot in the range I mentioned - and said it is just the way it is and I have to live with it. Going there tomorrow to "suggest" they send it back to the Mfg. Called and ordered a 2010 Nytro XTX to ride while the Poo is in the shop. Not a good experience with the D8.

report

Here is a little report put on 50 miles today group of 8 and out of the group
2009 dragon short track SLP Single ran awesome
2010 draon short track assault gears and 2 inch track ran great but can tell slp added abit
2009 assault slp can ran great
2010 assault slp single ran awesome
also stock rmk dragon 800 ran very good

also played with a rush geared down and 1.5 track suprisingly fun

all sleds had 91 octane and wires unplugged and a little oil in gas also NGK plugs all ran awesome make sure good fuel filter, right weights and tps correct
Als gearing down on short tracks help alot i think!!!

terrible

I rode my 2009 dragon sp about 200 miles on the trails this weekend. I am very dissapointed. it ran pretty good last year and i got around 13 miles to the gallon for economy. So far this year its has a terrible bog, the throttle is very inconsistant and i have been getting around 6 miles to a gallon. gonna call the dealer tomoro and if they arent going to do anything about it ill be heading down to my local ski doo dealer because apparently they can make a lot simpler motor alot better

Sleds 800

I dont understand why some people are having problems this is kinda wierd

I changed both gears, Full slp intake and slp pipe and can. Never had no bog or no anything. I was with a group of 8 and all ran awesome. Something has got to be adjusted wrong or something so far i rebuilt 25 sleds with the new update and most have them have ridden them with no problems.

just got back from cooke city and now its snowing here!!!!!!!!
we have 150 miles on now more soon

Third ride on mine today since the update. Have about 150 miles on so far. The sled is running awesome. Was really running great today, foot and a half to two feet of fresh snow and was about 10 below zero.

I want to make sure that admin doesn't consider this a bash post.

My 800 took a freaking crap AGAIN! It was bad enough taking an entire season finding and fixing the issues I had last season. Now it looks like the voltage regulator crapped out for the second time. I haven't checked to see if it is an updated one or not. I had about 6 rides or so at the end of the year and one this year where the sled ran perfectly. So in adition to another v.r. and ECU, it ate another piston. For those of you who lost count, that makes 9 over the last 1,200 miles. There are so many expletives that I want to use, I'd be banned for months.

BTW, still waiting on the update, not that the v.r. is included in the update.

09 d8 ran awesome

Today was the first real ride of the year for me and my friend. I have a new 09 d8 that has had the 2010 update, and my friend has an 08 d8, also with the 2010 update. Both sleds ran great, no bobble, or hesitation. My friend thought his ran stronger, despite oil in the gas, than last year. I have no comparison from last year, but thought mine ripped. Both sleds were pulling 8100- 8250 rpms on the trail, and 7900 on short pulls up stuff in the deep. We had tons of new snow, waist deep in many places, over all I was stoked on how it rode! We rode from 6-7,000 ft., and put on about 50 miles. Sick day in deep pow!
