IMO the single best thing you can do to improve your chances is to add a PCV.
There are just to many little bugs with this motor setup, but fueling it really helps. There is a mid range area that will give a 17.0 air fuel ratio (extremely lean) and the top end has been consistantly rich with numerous remaps. You can make more reliable HP with a PCV than with a pipe.
However, as we have seen the inevitable can still happen. A good warm up is always a good idea no matter what motor. And as you asked, a little of thissurely wouldn't hurt either.

Thanks for thread link more good stuff! so far I would say that a PCV seems to improve your chances of not melting down. Not sure by how much. Kinda funny(not really)but the more I read the more I see how desperate D8 are to find a fix. I hope that someone doesn't tell us that putting water in are tank will help. I think some owners would try it. Hell I might if it works.![]()
