We've heard form a few loud complainers, but is this a real issue?

3 DOO 800 motors

2001 ZX 800: Seized in 2003 @ 1400 miles.

2006 REV 800: Rebuild in 2007 @ 1800 miles.

2008 XP 800: Bought in Oct/07 Seized @ 500 miles 12/31/07.

Dec 18th 2007, blew my 07 800r with 1800 km`s.
top end shot, reason by dealer....Unknown
Still waiting for it back, backordered parts....maybe thats telling me that there is a high demand for engine components? Could there possibly problems with the 800r engine.
Just some sarcasm with Brp. They are not my friend at the moment.

3 800 Doo Motors

07 XRS: Lost crank 100 mi., lost crank again at 700 mi.

05 summit 800: top end went at 1900 mi.- loose clamp on carb boot

00 Summit 700: 3500-4000 miles still going

No more Ski Doos for me unless something changes soon. Bought alot of belts and spent alot of money to get these sleds rideable, just to have them blow up and loose a month of riding every year.:mad:

94 Formula Z 583 - tore down at 8500 km's thinking it would be bad, still had cross hatch

02 Summit 800 - seized crank bearing at 1200 km's

07 Summit 800r - still going fine after 1200 miles, tick tock, tick tock...

05 800 Adrenaline - Good, sold at 2700 kms

07 800R Summit X 159 - Crank @ 720 miles last season. 1st ride this season on New years eve, wouldn't idle and crank/connecting rod went at around 1700 miles on the sled during a climb. Crank full of Antifreeze.

Waiting for third motor. Second motor never had the "R" stamped on it.

  • 98 summit-x rode it for 2 years, never a hitch, motor wise.
  • 2000 Highmark 700. rode for 2 1/2 years, replaced pistons after 3000 miles, cylinders like new. rode for another 2 1/2 years, sold it to a friend, it is still going strong, I bet it has7000 miles on it now.
  • 2005 rev 162. 3500 miles on it and it still runs like new. Did the typical rings at 1500 miles, and it looked like a new motor inside.
Slim, which sled had the big bore, the zx, or the Rev?? or both?

My zx has trail porting with crankshop pipes.

My rev has just trail porting.

I run FRESH premium fuel every ride.

My 670 x blew the odd belt.

My other sleds, I have never blown a belt. EVER!

I inspect every day I ride, and if it looks like it needs changing, it becomes my back up belt.

I agree that doo has to smarten up, and get their act together. Other than the usual, typical doo issues, like floppy boards, bad carb boots, flaking rings, etc, the sleds I had were good.

my 08 burned down with 90 miles on it, it was a lean burn condition, he changed the needle and his opinion is that maybe the dpm is over adjusting for the high altitude.

I am picking it up today.

04 800 stock....blew crank seal at 1400 miles
rebuild to 827...seized new years at cooke..not sure why yet..right at 1000 miles on rebuild. just when it was running good! :) thanks slim ;)

06 adrenaline 900 km, crank bearings seized hill climbing at WOT destroyed block and and a heli ride
06 X 800 km, crank bearings seized on trail 5 km from truck, towed out

both had new short blocks on warranty and dealer had them back on snow in three days:)

06 800 stock except can - Blew 4 days ago while idoling. A ring in the dome took the pison out on pto side.

01. 1800 miles piston update (cracked) warranty. 2000 more miles added turbo and put wisco pistons in and put 3000 more miles and the crank bearings went. sold turbo and put in 950 BB and new crank. 2000 miles on this motor and no issues. so I guess I really haven't had any problems I didn't cause.:D

2000 700 summit, 3000 miles always been perfect.

01 800 summit, 1700 miles nothing but problems, 1100$ est getting rebuilt in shop right now, rebuilt 3 times last year.

two 97 380 skandic's with probably 3000 miles both are perfect as well.

rented an 800r blew up on me last year also.
My buddies 03.5 600 blew up 3 times as well. He sold it and now is going after an IQ.
Another budy who raced his 440 had to rebuild that thing so much.

The 600's 440's and 800's seem to have alot of problems.

1999 600 Summit - no motor problems. Kinked the tunnel and she was totaled.
