Which is better for boondocking?

I own a 2007 Skidoo summit xrs 800 151 and I am already tired of the the bent bulkheads and unreliable motors. One thing I will give it is that it is a blast to boondock(when one ski isnt 4 inches farther back than the other). Would I be better suited on an m1000 or m8 as opposed to the Rev? I am looking forward to hearing your guys's opinion.

the cat front ends are just short of a tank (no pun on wieght) and the 800 motor is a good all around one so you would just have to ride what you think will fit your riding style. The Ms turn and boondock well but might not be for all. I can tell you my wifes M7 and turn circles in a bucket and does well for a 700. what is your size wieght style ect?

I'm 6'5 260lbs. I like powder/boondocking backcountry riding and hill climbing. One more thing I do like about the rev is the 800 definately has some balls when its running right, I would definately like to find a sled with comprable power. p.s thanks for the replys:beer;

the d8 rocks the reson for the wt is some of the bigger guy can throw around a less rider forward chasis better than a slim guy...with out the effort...:D and this can lead to say a kk or some other stuff..

the m- sleds boondock way better than the revs in my opinion. my dad rides and 06 m7 153 and it is amazingly easy to lay over and turn, its much more tippy than the revs, and is totally different, for your size, an m8-162 would be really the right sled, and my dads throttle stuck wide open and it tagged a tree, luckily not to far away, it hit doing maybe 15-20 mph, the only thing was it cracked the nose cone/bumprer assembly and bent the bulked like half and inch, easily fixed with a hammer for such a hard hit.

the only complaint i have against the M- sleds is the diamond drives suck at low speeds, they seem to me like a on off switch, there is no happy medium, and they spool up and trench when starting, that may just be the one my dad has and he doesnt maintain it at all.

guy your size needs the 1000....i've hit rocks and logs so hard it knocked me off the sled with no front end damage....the new cats have had 3 years to work out the bugs, and seem to be very reliable and tough....i like the d8 also, but it doesn't have the power of the 1000, and runs slightly better than the m-8 in '08, but the '09's ran much better during the spring rides

Try the m1000, see if it suits you. I find the d8 to be the easiest sled out there to throw around, it responds to very little rider input, but at your size I highly doubt you would notice any difference between it and the m1000 (I'm only 170lbs, 5'9") You would definately notice the power though! I am by no means a cat fan, but they seem to be the toughest chassis for taking hits

Bent nunS...you've bent more than one?
Are you doing a lot of jumping or are you just hitting chet?
Get some 440 braces, whatever problems your having with the motor take it to a dealer who knows what they're doing. Most motor/clutch problems should be covered under warranty.
If your want more HP you've got a good motor/chassis to mod.
Get an SHR860 and get a set of Crank Shop Mondos, you should be pushing 180hp.
If you'd rather jump the doo ship (which I can understand) I'd go D8 with a Boondocker pump gas turbo.:)
M1000 is a good sled but it's not the stock king of the hill, I've seen XP's beat it. Weight is a BIG thing.

I have bent 2 nuns from jumping and landing sketchy:(, and 1 from running into a creek bed at 60mph.

I would put up with it If I had the warranty but the warranty's up:mad:

What is the best way to lighten up an m1000?

I'd go with an 8 for sure, i love the 8 with a few minor mods. If you wanna beat my xp, then go with a M8 with a Cutler Performance kit and a challenger. You will be smiling all winter!

XP 146 with RK-Tek drop in kit would also be a blast:face-icon-small-win

and just how do you expect to get damage from running into a creekbed at 60mph covered under warranty.

Just asking...... even bent nun from landing hard...... sounds to me like non warranty repairs from the getgo.

I was talking about the warranty in terms of the motor and clutching.

I will put my xp up against any 1000 or 1010 kit

Hmmmm.....from what I saw last winter it was about 50/50 head to head; XP vs Rev. I've never seen a mostly stock 800 Rev out climb a mostly stock M1000 so....... I'm not bashing the Xp's either here, maybe I only saw real average XP's, or real well tweaked Revs and M1000's.

SUPER DUPER COOPER XP
i have many freinds with xp they can't run with my m1000.
thats from there mouths after ridng my m1000.
