I will have a chance to compare two Nitro's this winter One with the Timber sled and one with the K-Mod.
Who knows...Maybe I'll be I Nitro convert afterward!!

I can say that SPG Did run the Nitro "PROJECT-BLACK" SLED for the full season with last years Timbersled skid in it and had the same compliments that I listed above. The development sled and the one that you see in the video's out west had the Mtn. Tamer in it.

They did do some tuning on the Stock skid and said that they could adjust it to improve the handling...but not to the level of the aftermarket skid.

I believe that you have ordered the SPG front end (Jeff said you should see it soon)....The Timbersled Mountain Tamer just plain gave them everything they were looking for.

They did order one K-Mod suspension to evaluate this season... and may order more for their Black Sleds. They were impressed with the quality and the conversations so far with Kevin.

I know that Amber was genuinely frustrated with her Timbersled setup and she found with K-Mod she was not frustrated at all.

Correct.
I am expecting to see my new SPG Concept front suspension any day now.
I was fortunate to get a day on both of the SPG Black Test Mules last winter and absolutely FELL IN LOVE with the new front end.!

Ya, well, money should never come between a man and his sled!

I agree. I think I'll be close to $5K in my sled by the time I have it fully back together with all of the goodies and such I've done to it - and the turbo idea has also popped into my head for next year - have to ask SLP about that and running their 777 kit. I'll bet by time the snow flies this fall, you'll have around $7K into yours with the SC kit, SPG IFS kit, rear suspension and whatever else strikes your fancy as you put it back together. As for which suspension to go with, I can't help other than to say I went with Timbersled over KMOD due mainly to the pricing at that time as I knew each of them would be far better than the run-of-the-mill RMK suspension I had.
Eiter one you end up going with, that's going to be one mean Nitro next year.

Oh Ya, the $$$$ add up after a while.
But it sure is FUN!

As for the suspension.
I really don't think you can possibly go wrong with either Timbersled or KMOD.
Both are clearly VERY strong products!

Yes, I try and till my wife it's only money. And yes we could have bought a new RV but look at all this FUN im having.....:faint:

The video is a good show of what a AF skid will do, I don't know how the nytro is to handle on the real steep but on my m8 its the same style on a lot steeper slope. Even at that it is not fair to compare because it has the old t-sled skid not the new skid that is coming which I think will be an improvement of some sorts. I wish there where some more of them around here that I could hop one and see what they are capable of but so far the ones that worked the best around here had AC skids, stock and old t-sled skids. I think it would be a fun challenge to try and put one where I take my m8.

With that, This thread seems to be more on the side of KMOD vs T-Sled (not to take from any of the others) and it isn't even comparable yet as the newest KMOD came out not long ago and the T-Skid is brand new, so maybe you should sit on it for a bit until we get some reviews next season. Sounds like there will be more than a few that should be capable of adjusting properly and giving straight reviews.

Agreed.
Both the 2012 Timbersled and the KMOD are both going to be sporting new developments. Should make for some interesting user comments when the snow begins to fly this winter..

Oh Ya.
I placed my order last spring at the end of the day riding the 1st prototype.
I was TOTALLY SOLD on SPG's new suspension that day.
Hope to see it roll in here in the next couple days.

I had to buy a new seat for my sled after you rode it because of the "odd" stains that were left behind

I'm gonna buck the trend and try out the AC style accessory catalog rear skid from Black Diamond/Yamaha. Honestly, it was not my first choice, but we like to try everything so that we can compare notes and determine what works and wha does not.

We've sold quite a few of the Mountain Tamers for Timbersled and have never had one complaint. Between us and our riding buddies, we ride 4 of them, all on Nytros.

If I do not like the Black Diamond skid, I know that I have a sure bet with Timbersled, but may have to try out a KMOD. You know, just to be different :D

What makes the timber sled better than the yammy light weight skid? Has anyone rode both?

NOT the front... The rear skid??
SORRY!
No.
I have made NO decisions at this point.

I am still wide open to either a KMOD or a TIMBERSLED Rear Skid for this coming winter.

My only real concern is in being able to accurately report back on my findings from the new front end before I replace the rear skid.

If I change out Both the front and rear at the same time, and ad the supercharger, I will never be able to say for sure which mod made which difference.

I too have that Black diamond susp sitting in a box, I'll try it first with the MCx and it it's a big turd I'll chose between Tsled and Kmod also Sott.
I'll give you feedback on anything that I like or dislike about it with the BOOST beast. I know wilmot helped me with some install photo's and he likes it on a normally asparated Nytro. It almost looks like I could come up with some sort of block kit to vary the weight transfer on the rear arm.

Heres my take. I rode my first MCX nytro for 3 seasons of which 2.5 were with the timbersled. I had the gen 1 style and it worked "ok" After the first season I got the new beefier rear arm because they bent which was a very common issue. Ran it for 2 more seasons. It did everything well except climb steep stuff. It needed a full rebuild after each season as everything was wore and loose for sure. All the issues look to be resolved on the new 2012 version so I think Allen is on the right track there with hard anodized shafts to get rid of the silver slime and bind ups. Allen always had top notch service with me and I have no complaints there at all.

Last year I built a new sled and bought the racers edge skid kit and installed it. I had a few issues with the turbo kit and didnt have alot of time to fine tune the skid. This winter I will and they are working on a new valving for the rear elka shock because its not quite right for the yammies IMO. I did remove the skid last week and it still looks new and isnt wore or bent in anyway. The magnetic transfer blocks are slick and easy to play with. Someone should post some good pics of the racers edge skid so the USA guys can see it. Thats another reason alot of western canadian riders are using it as its close and easy to get parts and service with no across the border hassles. So think about this, in a boosted yammie we are putting alot more force and power to the ground than normal which creates a whole new ball game so remember that when picking your skid.

I would love to hear how you guy's like the yamaha skid. I have no complaints but i haven't tried the others. I think it will perform well with boost. Cant wait to find out.
