I was in the snowies this weakend and seen probably 14 people cross country skiing on the trail. We slowed down to nothing to be respectful and most of them looked at us like we were aholes and we shouldn't have been on there trail. I also seen 3 of the groups with dogs. Would you go jogging down i80 with your dog running around loose. This seems like a huge safty issue and most of them acted like we were the ones imposing on there trails. Did anyone els see this or is it my imagination and is it legal we can't ride on there trails.

this seems to be happening more and more these days in my area as well. I always slow down and pass skiers slowly as well but i know some that don't and rip on past which causes friction between the two groups.. there are always a few skiers that think the world revolves around them and how dare anyone ride down their trail. you may have come across a group outing with like minded people that think that the forest is set aside for their enjoyment only. it is sad but true. the real sad thing is these people the ones who passionately show up to public hearing on land closures to voice their opinions and always point to the few A holes among us that tear up the forest as examples of why the areas should be closed. we do have trails in our are that are designated skiers only but they are marked and it is illegal for anyone with a powered vehicle to ride on

See em there all the time. Fat tire bikers all over now as well. I always slow down as others have mentioned, mainly to be prepared incase they do something. Lots of stories of thrown poles etc... Always turn my helmet cam on as i pass as well.

They are there a lot. Skiers have some sort of misguided sense of "entitlement" I as others always slow down but like you said they are glaring at us like we are the bad guys.

Just keep being respectful and move on.

Funny how THEIR trails are actually roads or two tracks in summer months...we pay to play they don't. Guess they are entitled.

Have yet to see two planker break trail in anywhere except past wilderness sign, but they sure will follow your track. And usually if they are that far in they " get it " and don't mind us at all.

I had poles and beer cans thrown at me last year at the snowies from skiers going down a snowmobile trail. Just kept going and did nothing. On the other hand, I've talked to some skiers out there on the trail that are really cool and respect snowmobilers. All depends on the group you see I guess.

Maybe you guys are just paranoid ???... I see skiers all the time using trails to access the backcountry and never once had any problem.

Maby sometimes it's being paranoid but last year a guy yelled at my son for going around him when he was in the middle of the trail and would not move. My son was doing less than 5 mph. I'm sure most are fine but I don't think they breath the same air we do. Like the others said it's very irritating they are on the trails we pay for not them and a lot of them are trying to shut our trails and riding areas down that we pay a $37 dollar fee to be on. Why do only motorized vehicles have to pay these fees there are trails designated for walking biking and horse back riding that cost money to maintain but they don't have to pay fees. Don't get me wrong I don't feel I own the mountain but at what point will things bee fair.

Yep, just like every other aspect of life it all depends on the group or individual. I've met some sledders that were totally disrespectful a**hats. The majority of people are good and just trying to have a good time and trying not to bother others. It's to bad to minority seem to speak the loudest.

The fees in most states goes directly to trail grooming snowmobiles like , dirt bikes, atv's , and quads all burden the brunt of trail fees.

Walking, running, cross country skiing don't and shouldn't IMO.

The skiers complain about the sleds and the noise yet they ski in our tracks all day long. I bet they are Obama following double talking Prius driving Obama tree lovers.:noidea: Who live in huge wood homes and suck electricity like no others, Yet shut down every Hydro project /dam that is proposed.. Yah get me talking about this hypocritical antic's.

I've seen them up there. If possible, I try to get off the trail and go around. If not possible, I slow down as much as possible.

I be courteous and KEEP my camera on. When chit hits the fan, I want to prove it. Imagine showing up to one of those public forums on riding areas with a powerpoint full of snowmobilers being harassed. :)

They are up at vp by the dozens. Most stick their thumbs out and try to catch a ride up the hill. I don't mind since they have to pay the same parking fee as we do and it all goes toward the grooming fund.

Just make sure you shut it off, or dispose of after watching, if you need to turn around, following an incident. :face-icon-small-win

I haven't seen a skier on the trails in years. They never use the wilderness!::noidea:

Same here. At the very least I slow right down and wave. Sometimes even stop and chit chat a bit....no biggie. Some of you assume they are all stark environmentalists, just like some of them assume you are redneck d-bags. Don't be that guy.

had 1 skier bend over and cover her dogs ears.stock quiet can.

another one was taking a dump in the middle of the trail.
