What's the attraction to aftermarket seats?

I felt the same way until I finally bought a Boss seat.

Weight reduction, higher seat for easier transition, comfort when I do sit(rarely), storage(since the REV seat had NONE) and the all important "looks cool" aspect ;)

On the revs and IQ no need IMO. But the M's and old edges I can understand it, let my pops ride my dragon all day sat and went back to my 02 on the trail with a 4 in riser and stock seat it felt like i was riding a road bike with ape hangers on it, If i was keeping it I would def. be in the market for a high rise of some sort.

90% of the time? So if you went for a 5 hr ride you were standing for 4.5 hrs? Your tougher than me.
I only used a aftermkt seat on one sled, a 04 Ski Doo Rev. The seat was so low and the foot position so far back that when I sat on the machine I felt like I was squatiing on it and my knees were higher than my hips which makes it more difficult to go from sitting to standing. My 40 yrs of s/m knees could not take it. The boss seat took care of that. No problems with the 08 XP.

why

I am standing 90% of the time.
I sure don't need a $500 knee pad!

why even have a seat at all Mafesto! ha ha.:)
I like my boss cause when I do sit, its more confortable and a much easier-quicker transistion from sitting to standing. my knees are not in my arms either when sitting.

1) If it's in a picture on a magazine people will buy it thinking they need it.
2) If it offers a smidgen of weight reduction whether it be for real or in theroy people will buy it.
3) The older sleds to make them compare to the newer sleds then fine, most people don't buy them that way but it is a good thing for them. No way is it $500 worth.
4) Storage? Again not a chance anyone would pay $500.00 for a compartment to hold a snickers.
5) It's something easily modified and people can see what you did making it even more worth it!

I know I wouldn't want one any higher on my Dragon that's for sure!

Weight.....lighter foam, soaks up less moisture and dries easier

Height.....on my M is much better! Don't need one on my Dragon

Storage.....definitely better and bigger, also holds extra shovel and probes.

Worth $500.00...to me YES! (but, you can get them cheaper!)

Get them handlebars up high enough to where you can stand up straight without bending forward.
I have a bum knee & it doesn't bother at all.
I also have a bad lower back & riding doesn't bother when I stand up.

just ask wild bill inventor of the highjack.....every sled I have ever seen him on has no seat at all! talk about a weight reduction at the very high cost of 0$'s

I stand up all day as well more like 95% of the day. If I sit down my damn knees barely let me get back up!

I thought you guys bought thos fancy seat because they smell... like fish.. and there are only two things that smell like fish, one is fish.. :o)

The highrise Boss seat on my old 02 RMK was two inches lower than the seat on my Dragon. There must be a reason Polaris did this, all I know is that it is a lot easier to get up off of the seat when it sits higher, even though I stand most of the time also.

So if you stand up 90% of the time, and you're bod is falling apart, why do you care about aftermarket seats. :face-icon-small-dis

Thinking about getting one????

low is the way 4 me

i dont like the hi-rize seats !! i always hit my foot goin over them to get from side to side and throws me off balance for a second ( causes havok sometimes ). if they made a lighter low seat like my stock one i may buy it but till then stock is fine with me !!!
mike:D

Is it just me or does R J sound bitter? maybe needs a hug, or a BOSS seat:D Whatever he is sitting on could be causing a flare-up, just kidding. I stand most of the time also but rode a sled like mine w/boss high top and it felt GREAT, if I could spend the coin without the wife knowing I'd have one , there's always b-day, or x-mas , valentines? easter? or......

i had One ride with my stock seat and went to the boss. m series. The highrise weight loss is great . and its on a m7. you really can feel the weight loss +3 the extra 3 inches allowes you to grab it with your knees if you wana straddle it when ur carving it up. the stock seat didnt allow it and its heavy.

This is where it hurts buts its true. BEST 625 i spent.
