hey guys just wondering what tires u favor for gettin you to the hill through the slush and snow and in the spring chewin up the hill iv ran bfg all terrains and there nice but i was thinkin about maybe doin an irok with studs for next winter studs for the ice, iroks are cheap and theyve got the tread to chew you out of pretty much anything?

I'm running cooper stt's I think. They are the ones that look like the toyo's . They seem to work pretty good I had them siped last year and that made them a little better on the ice. The Iroks are a good tire for the mud and chewing threw the deep snow but I don't think they would be my first pick for my tow truck they might be ok with studs but I don't think they come pinned for them.
I think super swamper does make another tire thats a little more like a AT and I think its pinned.

If you liked the BFG's, check out the General Grabber AT2's. Better prices, have stud holes, more factory siping, better road hazard warrentys, and better customer service. I love mud tires, but they just dont compare winter performance wise. Once you slide off the road they will pull good in the ditch, but its not a great place to be. I've ran 2 winters on 38.5 boggers, 2 winters on 39.5" Rockers on a locked diff rig, and a winter on 37" BFG MT (ONLY because i couldnt pass up the deal i was offered)... And ill be going with a studable snowflake tire for next winter.

Running Toyo Open Country MTs in 35x12.50R17. Mine are also siped. Also one of the few big tires that is E rated.

Been very impressed with them. Seem to do great on the ice and hardpacked snow. In deep snow they are very impressive.

They are spendy but I would definitely buy again.

I've run nothing mud tires on my trucks for the last 9 years or so. Always been happy with their performance in the snow.

I hate all terrains because they pick up all the little rocks. Between all the dirt roads in Montana and the gravel they put on the paved roads in the winter, it is jus annoying. Also chews up the AT tires.

Least aggressive tire I've run was the Cooper ST, which is a good tire. Especially studded and siped.

I've run BFG MT KM, Pro Comp MT, Pro Comp Xtreme MT and now the Toyos. Like the Toyos the best so far. Pro Comp Xtreme MTs also were a good tire.

Siping

Discount Tire/America’s Tire offers the revolutionary tire “Siping” procedure. Here's how siping works:
Saf-Tee® siping cuts slits, called sipes, at 90° angles across the tread, providing thousands of gripping edges for better traction and stopping power. Wear-robbing heat and hydroplaning are also minimized.

I've got a set of Nitto Terra-Grapplers on now, and for $135 a tire in 285/75/16 trim I have no complaints about them.

However, I think I am gonna go back to the BFG A/T in stock 245/75/16 next ... I had a pair of 265/75/16 BFG AT's on my old truck and those were far and away the best tires in the snow I've ever had. But you do pay a premium for them :(

"siped"is a process to a tire before wear to it,it is rolled in a motion and "blades"cut into the threads and aid in the traction on ice and snow, check it out at your local dealer if they have it ,pretty cool stuff.Buy bf great all round tire

Running BFG 315/70R-17's on my stock rims for the snow.

My Toyo MT's are awesome but the 35x12.50-18 just wasn't that great in the snow. Of course the 10 wide wheel proly doesn't help out either.

I had 37" Toyo MT's on my superduty and loved them. There isn't a better mud terrain but damn are thay pricey. Any one run the BFG KM2's yet? Looking at getting a set of the 285/70/17's for my 08 chevy.

Do any of these tires last longer than 1 season? My Powerstroke chews through rear tires to the tune of 1 set per season and it is a stock '08 model. My previous '02 with a chip did the same thing.

it's time for tires on my truck. looking at the nokian e rated tire, has anyone had experience with these? just went thru a set of yokohamas, wasn't impressed with the wear, but i always have a load and they only have d rating.
