what is the easiest handling sled?

the IQ and the M feel very similar to me. The XP and the nitro feel the same to me as well. Harder to do powder turns and boondock with the doo or the nitro.
I would pick the M or the IQ. Whatever is closer and the better dealer.

all of those chasis are really good, but what really matters is the weight, go for a chasis and try to make it as light as possible. deffinaly will feel a difference!!

I think the M and the IQ as far as setup snow goes, the rev/XP seem to do way better on the trail, and in the deeper snow.

they all rock... cant really go wrong, ridden them all, and like em all, just takes some miles on each to get used to the way they react.

Hello, thanks again for the replies guys, keep them comin.

I went out ridin in Troy ID today on a relatives property wasn`t any mountain riding but lots of hard crusty snow and short trails that were really tight and bucked me around pretty good. Then went up them with the wife on the back and with 2 people was really hard to handle, she is still getting used to the leaning thing on her sled let alone when we are both on my sled ended up tipping it over twice in two different tree holes melting snow sucks.

Anyway my sled is kind of a Rev inspired sled, it has 04 rev seat conversion Homemade snow-eliminator type running boards handle bar riser (5.5inchs) 153x2.25 track and first ride out on 6.9 pilot skis and fox shock in the rear.
Made a huge difference in handling and those skis bite really well just harder to tip over on harder snow with the outside carbides.

I always have been a fan to the Rev and the M Series sleds but getting alot of good comments on Polaris chassis. and is the most comfortable for me to set on the wife really like them too. The polaris motor under the hood still looks like a motor, haven`t been inpressed in how you have to almost burn your hands to change the plugs on the Cat motor in the position to where the pipes set.
Has any of you installed a taller seat on your M Series sleds to make the seat higher for going from setting to standing, this is the biggest thing that I don`t like about the M sleds, When My buddy and I were out for the Doo Talk Elk River ride this year , dude had a new M8 Snopro and Loved it said he would like to have his buddies Polaris seat on it instead, would be a different look but was kinda funny.

This has turned out to be a very informative Thread. keep them comin boys this helps me alot and hopefully you knowledge will help out another fellow sledder. Darren

Can only really echo what's already been said...had seat time on both the XP and M series. The M is amazing as far as throwing it around and boondocking in the trees with the XP being much more stable and less demanding on the trails. They are both extremely capable machines, but to answer your original question the XP has much better handling on the trails, but the M is alot easier to toss around even compared to an XP with the sway bar removed.

Fair amount of seat time this year on a 06 M7, 05 Edge mod, 09 M8 HCR, and 09 Dragon. Dragon is by far the easiest for me to throw around boondocking in pow. Does J-hook turns on a dime. Most fun sled I've ever ridden. The M chassis' are great sleds too but I'd still chose the Dragon over the M as far as fun factor goes.....but that's just my opinion ;) :beer;

Mine...:)

If you are wanting an older sled the cat are easier to sidehill but I would go with an 06 or 07 rev. The older m's won't touch one of them. The m7 were good but they were still a 700. If you get a polaris you want, I believe it is an 07 or better. Everyone is probably going to jump all over this but I don't care. I have rode everything. This isn't my first Rodeo.

I have a 08 M8, and an Apex, and have rode a D8 a little, rode 2 XP's, and a few Rev's. Anybody who jumps on a M or a Dragon for the first time is usually impressed. I was really impressed with the Dragon, good all around ride. The M handles a bit easier for me, but is not as comfortable in stock form as the Dragon. The XP is a quirky handling sled to me, it seems like it won't cut quite as tight of an arc and want to keep pointing straight. And this might sound goofy, but the Apex has a similar handling feel to the M8 in good snow, it reacts to imput quickly and goes real good, you just wouldn't like one the first time you rode it.

I have ridden 2 800 xps 08 and 09, 08 M8, an assault, 08 700 RMK, and a 08 600 RMK and I own a 08 600 SB Dragon. My sled has a 144x 2x15 track with 8" risers Heelclicker clutch kit, but otherwise stock.I personally think the xp's are almost too stable but would make for a great trail sled. The assault had the skis set wide so it didnt sidehill or carve real easy but still easier than the XPs. The RMKs and the M8 were very easy to throw around, and I agree with the seat being too low on the M8. I ride moslty 600s so all the 700 and up sleds felt much stronger in the motor department. I was very impressed with how fun the 600 RMK was and how well it climbed. My diehard Doo buddy had to rent an 800 xp and it took him several days to feel comfortable carving and sidehilling with it , and he rides a REV. I did ride with several guys on cats , but we spent a lot of time wrenching on them for one reason or another. My 2 cents.

To tell you the truth. I can't ride skidoo or cat becaues the colors don't look good on me. Im more of a blue and red type of guy. :D

there is alot of skidoo` that are blue or red, mostly known is the 06 rev red and lots of models made in blue. older and new, I like the feedback on this thread, actually would be hard to make a definite decision on which to get , haven`t noticed alot about the revs I actually like the revs, on other threads and reviews the 06 is the year of chassis for the rev, even though obviosly the 04 & 05 go for about the best price and the cats too, the polaris is a cool looking sled and has got alot of turn out to being one of the easiest to throw-around. lots of info on here hope it will help some one else too

The XP doesn`t get alot of good comments on here, except for the diehards. and every brand has those, even if its setting in the shop for some kind of trouble its still the best sled, LOL To me the Rev is still a better looking sled ( in my opinion, sorry), and if you read alot of the starting titles of sleds on here in the Skidoo forum, its always a problem with the xp, motors electrical and driveshafts, and all kinds of others, I know every new chassis will experience its share of troubles but around 10k I would not take the chance on the new sled, 09 seems to be a much better sled, I can`t afford one but maybe in the future will learn what used to be the trouble with that or other sleds. for future purchases.

Thanks Guys keep this going.

M chassis IMO

Love my 09 M8 and loved my 06 M7

I've got a whole day riding an 07 Dragon 700 155

Some seat time an 09 Dragon 800 163

A bunch of time on various REVs

Never ridden an XP

I think the REV is the most difficult to throw around takes the most time to get comfortable on

The Dragon is in between. IMO, it is no wear as flickable as the M but I do feel comfortable on it and can do donuts pretty easy were I am scared to do it on the REV.

I like the Dragon 700 a lot better then 800. The 800 feels quick revving but just feels gutless on the bottom with no torque. I do not care for the engine at all. 700 feels snappier and torquier to me.
