What is missing from sledding movies?

:DGood Post:Mark anything that is of everyday riders(Workers not Sponsered)tearing yup the BackCountry.Cheers Red Dog. ps Music optional

ive always liked idea of a vid of average joes, just normal riders that cant fly like the pros, or climb like the rich turbo guys but still have just as much fun. ive always thought it would be cool just to get helmet cams for everyone in our group then just go out riding for a day and come back and see what we got and maybe take the best shots over time and make a movie. sure the film quality might not be that great but ive learned, atleast in our group, the only time cool or funny crap happens is when we dont have the cameras handy, then somethin happens and we all wish we had a camera but we know if we would have had the camera then it wouldnt have happened. you know what i mean?

p.s. we've thought about doin the messin with sasquatch thing to, we got the perfect guy to play a sasquatch. hes a big mofo.

we have a couple helmet cams and about five video cameras

is there any intrest in having a couple segments of other things to like for example....
a couple clips of us muddin or messin around with some other non snow sports?

I would like to see some throw downs on all the bull$*** on this form.

Line up the 800’s on a hill and see which one really does rule. 1st totally stock, 2nd re-clutched, 3rd piped, etc. Maybe run a few times early in the day, and then run a few more at the end of the day to see if snow conditions make a difference.

Line up a bunch of M 1000’s with different turbo kits, BD, Twisted, some of the Areo kits. Let’s see which one really does rule.

Line up some 4 stroke and run them against each other. BD, Alpine, McExpress, Impulse

I’d like to see if a turbo’d Apex really can run with a LW mod sled boon docking. It wouldn’t be hard to film. You don’t have to film it all, just interview the guys riding and turn them loose. Then interview them when they’re back. They can’t lie on film. If the LW mod guy can’t lose the Apex then we know.

Let’s get an Apex stuck and an XP stuck in the same conditions and see how much harder it really is to get the Apex unstuck.

I know this won’t actually prove anything, but at least it will make the guy who says his XXX will out pull your OOO look like an idiot.

Oh ya, can we get rid of all the stupid music.

Remind me, and I'll try to round up my helmet cam gear. You can borrow it.

I hope you know how much compute work goes into splicing a bunch of film together. Let me know if you need someone to film. I could be the old guy behind the camera.

Recognize this shot?

You or your bother, and dad.

Genuine footage of PLP's, no wannabes that pretend. Those that got the sleds, got the gear, but just make up excuses and don't actually go ride it the way it can be ridden.
holy sh!t, great idea....camera set up in an elevated position and watching the parking lot of any popular riding area. you would have a 2 hr movie in no time....lol

There's always drama in the parking lot. Need a directional microphone to pick up the BS.
could just imagine the chapters....loading, unloading, snowbank superstars, crashing, most expensive gear, least expensive gear, biggest BS story, trailer reversing, drunkest off the hill, parking fights....I think this is a winning idea....:D

He is right. I have been working on mine for 6 months now and just finally finished. Especially if you are working full time and going to school. It takes a lot of time and a good computer to make a decent video. I got to send my thanks out to jlowe again for my computer and thanks to phatty for bringing it to me too. You guys rock!!!:beer;:beer;

omg..... YES!!!!! :D:D

Have the option for chill music or no music. Most of the stuff that is thrown in the movies is crap.

Better cinematography. Find some better angles than across the hill or on top. Every other action sports film companies seem to have it. Maybe some better image stabilization from the helis?

More tripod use. Less crappy zoom techniques. Give a nice steady zoom or a solid consistent one intead of going in and out like it's someone first time with a home video camera.

although i haven't seen the movie yet, this is probably the best sled teaser i have seen as far as editing and filming go. Movie also seems to tell a story instead of just stitching together clips.

^^Good idea WhyNot.

Guess I had a good one too, lol. Would be hoot to see some of those left behind in the parking lot or at the bottom of the hill what they have say and do.

What blows me away is how no one as landed a front flip on a sled yet. If someone has the money to fix my sled, i would attempt it in the right conditions. Put that in a flim and you would have a blockbuster for that year at least.

Lets see it. BTW, sitting in a hospital bed for another 40 years while you slowly die and can only move your eye brows does not sound like fun to me...

I agreee with the accrost the hill idea, that would be cool.

Take the best things out of these

1. Team Summit: Jlowe puts a great story line and personality portfolio together and you are hooked and HAVE to buy next years vid to see whats going on with the group. Not to mention, good quality footage and editing.

2. 509 Films: Variations in whats being filmed, interesting, informative, and funny spots in the Extras. Great climbing scenes. Riders that are not in 4 or 5 films/film companies each year. Good editing. Some outstanding still photos that should have been in the extras section :D (LMAO, just looking for some of my work to make the film and not just the cover TOM ;)

3. Summit HD films: AWESOME BOONDOCKING footage with excellent and difficult to do set ups for camera angles, and Bluray disc burning

4. Thunderstruck: Regular team riders you can count on seeing again. Great climbing footage. Good editing and effects(Jlowe)

5. Slednecks/Compound films etc. : Outstanding footage on unique riding styles and amazing feats each year.

6. BOOST series: The best 4 stroke turbo series out there.

7. Roops series: Shreddog keeps it simple and packs a lot of riding in an incredible area to ride (Stewart, BC) a place that mopst of us dream of riding someday.

8. Sledporn: Funny chit and T&A to go along with good riding. One of my personal favs

9. Mountain Mod: Gregs willingness to hit the big 3 events each year and collect decent footage from all 3 and his sweet sled he gets built each year.

10. Extreme team: Regular team riders we look forward to seeing and great climbs from mostly 2 stroke sleds, turbo and nonturbo.

11. Extreme Velocity: Thomas always makes a classy filmed movie designed to hit a broad audience. Usually the music is new and fresh and good.

12. Boondockers: Well, it has some of the best back country footage for drops and deep powder riding.

And definitely ANY filmakers that have chicks that can shred on a sled has my vote! I LOVE watching chicks ride. It is NC17 porrn for me :eek::beer;

I know I forgot some but thats a start of ideas and important facts to any of the new or existing filmakers out there. I am not a professional critic but I own all of these films and watch them WAYYYYYYY too much. Plus I produced an outdoor adventure TV show and sold DVD's of that show and had to please the fans all the time to stay on TV. Hopefully this helps someone whether you disagree or not.

Mr. Marc... whatever you do.. I am sure it'll be a success. :) I can't wait to see it!

And the PLP idea..... omg hours and hours of laughter. GREAT IDEA! :)

I'd definitely like to see more interaction with riders. Kind of like the nitro circus vids. "Hey i'm gonna try to jump my sled right through those 2 trees and over the pile of jagged rocks" and then watch what happens.

Nitro Circus has it nailed for videos. Perfect mix of riding, back ground, and just plain filming guys and gals having fun. and I'd say they do a great job of mixing in stuff besides moto.
