Here in NM its very slow . There's nothing happening in the oil and gas industry around here.besides the recession ,and lower Nat.gas prices Our wonderful governer (Bill Richardson)tried to personally criple the industry in our state by imposing crazy new new regulations on drilling that coincedently would have made his family huge money. I think it was this scandal that put him out of Obamas cabinet ( Your all welcome!! )they have since backed off on these regs as the loss of revenue was more than the buget could take!

Im not sure whats the unit natural gas is sold mmBTU? CFM I guess is a flowing volume measurement.

1 MCF (not CFM) = ~0.95MMBTU.

MCF is the volume (1000 cubic feet) and MMBTU is the heating value. In Canada we sell on a gigajoule basis but a GJ is approximately = to a MMBTU.

Oil companys would be stupid to not be drilling.They got all contractors working for free.Its really nice to go to work and get paid wages from 10 years ago.Ill show them I wont go until september and just enjoy my summer.

The company Ive been consulting for said that alot of companies are putting their jobs out for bid to directional hands. Some are working for like 400 a day or less just to get the work! I just laughed and told him that Ill come back when he has enough work to pay me my regular day rate. Until then I can make more with my contracting company. (and be home every night) Seems to be a lot of work in the construction industry yet.

Good for you seriously! I am in michigan & the economy is getting worse daily, My friends we here have been in the bottom of the pit for way longer than the rest of the states & there is no recovery yet, Just a long slow freefall

I know exactly what you mean and I feel for you. That's why I left Michigan and headed west. The unemployment numbers and the amount of people that have left or will continue to leave the great state of Michigan is saddening. My sister, after being laid off for almost two years from an auto industry related position, was fortunate enough to get into the apprentice program for U.S. ARMY TACOM LCMC. Tacom and General Dynamics Land Systems are a couple of the few left around their that are hiring and have long term sustainability.

maluchm thanks for understanding where I am coming from. Most of the SW readers have been lucky with their economy not getting to where michigan is but I fear it's coming.

Here in michigan the next big hit will be in commercial real estate, There are so many strip malls & or newer buildings with maybe one or two open stores (some have no open stores) it is pure crazy & there is no way this market can hold on any longer.
