Welcome to Valemount B.C ?!?

Wow take a BC pill..dude. I think if your from Ab the cops see your plate and pick you out of the line up. It's that simple. So here's whay you do next......As soon as you get to BC steal a BC plate from someone else and put it on your truck, then you'll never be bugged again!! Us Albertan's are the meal ticket for many of those suffering a slow painful life in BC. Plain and simple!!!!

I'm from Alberta and going to Mcbride or Valemount NEVER have been pulled over. If I did I am almost positive it wouldn't be more then a few minutes because you don't cop a attitude with them, and chances are they will let you go pretty quick. My problem is a lot of people in Alberta primarly those who work on rigs think they are hot **** and like to cop attitudes with people, and they are going to get a attitude adjustment. Don't go to Valemount, I have no problem with less people tracking up the good stuff :D

Oh I agree totally, I'm gonna sleep so much better at night now knowing that the criminal with the fog lights isn't going to be able to high beam people lol. RCMP..........what a joke

Can't say I agree without seeing the lights in question. Some offroad lights without covers DO deserve tickets as if they were turned on while on a 2 lane highway could easily end up killing people with the blinding light. But i'm sure the cops pulled him over and ticketed him because he was doing nothing wrong, and was completly cooperating and being nice.

Wait, you have to have COVERS on your off road lights? I've never heard of this?

its a law they needed back in the 70's when guys were putting those light bars on the roof that could light up a stadium. today its just another way a cop can ticket you when they feel like.

and how are those after market bumper mounted fog lights different than the smaller(in size not intensity) ones you see on every other car in the city?!

have you ever seen a sports car with covers on the fog lamps?

how about the ticket they have for driving with no shirt, or the one for driving with no shoes? protecting us, or regulating our life style?

how about the one I got the other day for "driving without consideration for others". I got that one in addition to the one for running a yellow, the cop just felt like giving me two tickets. and I was extremely polite as always to him.

they have too much power for their training.

I lived in BC and have done lots of sledding and driving to Revy, Valemount, Fernie, etc. from 1996 to 2001. Then I moved to AB but still go back to these same areas regularly. Hate to say it but the AB plate attracts more attention than when I had the BC plates.

I have a hard time giving respect to a cop that gives out tickets and wastes time enforcing retarted bylaws and minor infractions that pose no threat to the community.

I'm only 21 but have been around long enough to have seen cops ignor and not even show up to more serious crime scenes such as:

-Two hit and runs. Come to the station and file a report. Case closed.

-One break and enter where my relative had the guy boxed into his driveway and called 911 only to have the dispatcher insist that he calm down and fully explain the situation before she could send police. My relative seen him and took his plate # before he got away, then he asked police if they needed him to make a statement. The cops told him no. So he went back to work (in camp) only to have the cops call him 5 days later asking him to file a report and identify the guy in a lineup wich he could not. Case closed.

-One break and enter in wich me and several others found the suspected vehical, which contained the stolen items (including two firearms). Called cops 3 times while we watched the van. Guys got in the van and left so we followed them to there home and called cops again with address of house. This time the dispacher got mad at us for calling too frequently and insisted that a constable would call us back. No call. Case closed.

So I apologize if I have a little anger built up when I see cops too busy to handle real crimes but are content with sitting in there cruisers eating f#$ckin donuts and busting people for not having covers on there fog lights.

Ehn, if they were looking for stolen sleds or suspicious characters you can't really blame them. Being from Fort Mcmurray I'm sure you understand where all these high dollar sleds/trailers/parts that are stolen from interior BC wind up. I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that your attitude didn't help....just a guess.

the cops at first glance can't possibly finger out where a guy is from ....plus all Alberta guys only have plates int he rear ..so if the boys came at ya from the front 10 to 1 they would never know who you are or where you were from ...Id say bad luck

another rcmp story 4 ya

i have a rcmp rant about something that has just happened to me.
As some of u know my trailer an turbo yammi were stolen from hinton a couple weeks ago.
i get a phone call, sayin that my stuff was seen in Prince george, I was givin a number to call this guy, about my stuff and that i could probably buy it back.
So i automatically assume that this number i have could be the thief or someone close to the thief.
I call PG RCMP with this info, an hour later the constable says he called the number of the potential thief and asked him if he could help bring these thieves to justice! IDIOTS! they were probably talking to the head thief! of course I recieved the call saying ya, the lead was no good.
Brain dead I tell ya
why not call the number say it was me and do a undercover sting!
I basically handed him the thieves and with his first phone call he f****d it up!
BTW snowblinders is the guys name here on Snowest, I have a pretty good idea that it is him or someone he knows

B

boosted... i hate to hear stories like that. btw everything stolen ends up in pg, theres no secret there. every ford diesel with sleds on it that goes missing outa chetwynd ends up in pg. if i was you i would have set the deal up and then told the cops.

anyways its no difference anywhere but some days you will get a good cop. some days you will get a complete joke with a badge on. my boss has got 2 tickets for his light force lights with the clear covers this year. whatcha gonna do.

As for my attitude with the rcmp, there was none. I even snapped a pic of all the dogcatchers behind me for my face book. I came at him from the front so yeah they new where i was from. Again they weren't interested in any sleds, just infractions. I cannot say this in a more polite way but if the Village of valemount wants to be open for business then act like it, get your mayor involved, the rcmp, the dot, the volunteers. Get all of these people in a room and make it work! targeting sledders because they are a hazard to valemount ? WTF? If my money is not welcome here then it WILL go to another community ! Some people think that I'm an a zz for saying this stuff but reality is a lot of people think the way I do and I demand service when I'm paying for it, I don't ask for it. So Valemount the challenge to you is to make vacationing there a better experience.

P.S RCMP =Dogcatchers (and they even suck at that !)

So, you are saying that you had yourOFFROAD lights uncovered on a public highway?
Well that is a no brainer. There is nothing more irritating than a truck with blinding offroad lights coming your way.... and you can't say that you haven't used them either.

So many people complain about the cops not doing their job, then there are guys that complain that they are....

There are too many id10ts who fail to strap their sleds, put a 2 place deck on their 1/2 ton, drive without headlights, drive with blinding lights, have broken trailer lights, overloaded, etc.... The police are the ones that have to go to the accidents and deal with the brain matter scrambled alongside the highway. not you.
They pull you over, if you look a little nervous, they will look deeper for good reason.

I have seen guys stumble out of their trucks in Valemount just HAMMERED drunk and only get a 12 hour suspension... and those were the drivers!!

\Trust me, it is not just Valemount, it is everywhere.

You know the rules, you played the game, you lost.

If your offroad lights are uncovered who cares.Whats the difference mabye they arent even wired up it should only matter if they are on or off.It was a bull@@@ ticket.

life's not fair. welcome to the real word, no 21 year old driving a "80K rig" is getting any respect from any one. period.

it's funny because 20 years ago I would have said the same crap your saying.

think what you want about the rcmp, he is the one you had an issue with. not the local sledders or town!

I have met some not so great cops in edson/ edmonton/ camrose/ leduc... (holy crap) myself, but i don't crap on the towns because of it.

Marcuso, don't recall where I said I had off road lights but apparently you know my truck well, they are in fact fog lights. Like I have stated I am from Alberta, I make a butt load o'cash and I am an A zz. So deal with it. If you want to do business then do it ! I work hard for my money ! 15-16hr days every day and no complaints because that is what I signed up for ! I WILL speak with my MONEY because that is the only way people in these communities will listen! Really folks I am not a drug dealer, a thief, a government assistance recipient. I have done nothing wrong ! I am guilty of nothing ! What sickens me is people who see that I am from Fort Mac automatically think that I need to divvy up the money that I earned to the "community". So the question I ask is if you were pulled over as a law abiding citizen and fined for no reason other than a cash grab would you be so complacent? Hmmm calling out all hypocrites on this one !

I agree big time about the income thing. many people see the nice things some people have and think all us albertans just wake up everyday and are handed fistfuls of cash, when the truth is we work 80-100hrs a week for weeks on end most of the time away from home to make this type of cash and how we spend it is our business. So instead of being rude about the guy in the nice truck think how hard he had to work for that rig!!
As for the cop thing there is alot of crappy ones out there right now cause the RCMP are so short handed and are pushing guys thru.

Respect is not freely given, it has to be earned. Do you think the cops or anyone for that matter gives a **** who makes what amount of money? No one will put up with a$$holes. They are more inclined to pull over the rig guys(easily spotted by anyone) making the big money because well, most of them are lucky to be able to tie their shoes and remember to breath, nevermind them trying to drive the big lifted truck that is beat to **** most of them drive ;) You might not be one of them, but being from Fort Mac it's hard to rule it out.

The thing I find funny is, i'm 19 and everyone except one person I sled with is about my age we drive lifted diesels and we don't get pulled over in valemount mcbride or anywere else. There is reasons for that, we don't drive like idiots and we obey the law. The cops won't give you a ticket for no covers on factory fog lights, if your calling lights on a bar those ARE offroad lights and it is GOOD they are giving tickets for people driving with them without covers.
