Weight vs. Clicker

OT ....... the differance between a fool and a wise man is that a wise man speaks because he has something to say and the fool speaks because he has to say something. So our question to you is do you really have anything to say?

DJ .......your signature says that DooTalk has been OT free since 07. My question to you is how do we make that rule apply to snowest ?

Well, after ALOT of testing.....changing clickers does ALOT more than change RPM. It changes the feel of the entire shift pattern, has a HUGE effect on the secondary's ability to backshift and the speed it can regain RPM. It also has a HUGE effect on the amount of belt squeeze and heat generated.....sometimes without a percievable change in RPM.
I understood exacty what triple 7 was saying with the different "feel" of the different portions of the ramps.....as anyone who has actually DONE ANY TESTING would have. I think it's VERY obvious who here has actually done testing and who relies on their dealer for setup. :beer;:)

Yep, "feel" is really the only way I can put it. I like how clicker 4 "feels" the first portion of the shift, I like how the clutch will shift out on clicker 2. Glad to see some people can tell whats goin on too.

Here is better than what you asked for...

Have 15 sets sent out.
Have another 85 sets being made right now as we speak.
Comes with roll pins pressed in at the correct position.

Clicky here to get on Ramp list

...and I will put you on the list if you did not be on it already
thanks
Joey

By better than what I asked for what do you mean exactly?? Profile looks to have a higher engagement rpm, less curvature through the initial portion of shift and then use a final angle similar to 413 clicker 2?? Is that correct ish??

You know what the really sad part is OT?? I am 19 years old, have been messing with TRA's for a year and a half and even I know that altering clicker position does more than change peak RPM!! LMAO you really are an idiot!!

Brew,
I am impressed "has a HUGE effect on the secondary's ability to backshift and the speed it can regain RPM." You and Turbo Al are some of the few tuners that have linked the TRA to the backshift of the secondary. Good job!!!!:beer;

Every clutch part is tied together to give the system it's personality.

In the end it's the helix that does "most" of the job of providing backshift signal.
The helix is the connection between the engine load and ground load.

One can say the helix does 51 percent of the work for backshift. 51 percent is "most" regarding the job of "shift control" so it does more work than all the other parts combined.

So if it does "most of the work" regarding backshift then you can base your calibrations on the principle(law) of angle(s).

In the primary the ramp angle determines the (rpm under full throttle) and (rpm acceleration under full throttle).
Increase the angle = stalls the upshift. Decrease the angle = harder upshift.

DJ,
First off, love your helix. Now, looking through my notes, 83-8400 rpm,s hardpack, 74-7600 climbing or 3ft fresh powder. Set-up- 16.8-17.5 pin weight,415 ramps, 130/350 spring, clicker 3,4&5, 19/47 gearing. Changed to 160/380, better but rpm's still dropped to 76-7800 with a ton of belt heat (clicker 3,4&5). Changed ramps, better, but still rpm drop. Now, 160/320,Thundershift arms, less pin weight, clicker 3 (only) and hang on!!! Rpm's hold at 83-8400, deep powder, climbing, elevation change 9500-12,000, doesn't matter! Also, virtually no hot clutcthes. Lesson learned, where was the "backshift" with the weight out on the END of the arms??? Now I can just ride and grin. Thanks Joey!!!:)

Lots of babble about the helix doing most of the work. I hate to burst your bubble guys but it happens to be the BELT which does most of the work. The BELT is the link betwen the primary & secondary clutch and when the primary begins to get to HOT, BELT performance will begin to fade resulting in poor clutch performance.

Most issues related to poor clutching can be directly related to weak belt performance. Most guys are 2 cheap and will run there belt to death
