Wanted:

That's good of them to offer a loaner, but why the issue over warranty in the first place? I don't get it.

I'm thinking I need to give them a couple hundy to drag their feet another week - that way, I'd get to be behind the camera when you are ridin' an XP for the weekend / LMAO

Yea, after hearing the horror stories about the XP, I might have to wait for a 09 D800 or wait fro the 09 XP. I'll be waiting either way. If Yami don't come through, they'll never see my money again.

Dave, I'm not sure what Yamaha's reasoning is. Only info I have is the dealer
agree's with me that there should not be an issue however Yamaha thinks different therefore they are sending a Rep. I have cofidence that they will replace them however they don't know that yet. They have my pics, dealers
pics plus written parameters when the shocks broke. I guess they just need to see for themselves.

As far as I can remember, this is the first time Yamaha has dispatched somebody to look at something to determine warranty. I would guess that the failure is strange enough and something they haven't seen before which is why they want to lay eyes on it. We're all in agreement that there's not anything else wrong with the sled that would explain the shock failure but Yamaha did read the thread about another sled hitting a rock nearby. That's really the only reason we can see that they want to inspect it. We think Jim's a stand up guy telling us the whole story and we'd really like to get it covered and keep him happy with us and Yamaha. I did also offer to order the shocks so we'd have them either way but I understand Jim's logic that if Yamaha doesn't step up, why would he want to reward that by buying new shocks from them.

Sounds like being seen on a Doo might cause more trouble with you guys than he needs...I do have an Apex he could ride! The demo rides are also only on Saturday so the demo Nytro is available on Sunday if that helps any either.

Thanks,
Donavon

Now thats the kind of business ethic I like to see, now adays noone cares about the little/individual guy but i have never felt that way at xtreme, This post just makes me want to keep my business there. Keep up the good work and get yamaha to pony up.

Jim, you have one heck of a thread here ;) I'm still wondering where I should buy my Nytro... I think Yammie is just not used to the word "warranty" ;) and they are not familiar with the process... Good luck and hope you get to riding soon...

Yammer,
Why don't ya wait it out until 09. Then you can get an 09 xp and I won't be so gun shy either

If it was me, I'd be hesitant to put those same stock shocks back on, free or not. Time for an upgrade:D

I'm sure Yammie is real interested in finding out what caused a potentially life threatening failure. No surprise they are looking into this very seriously. If you'd have been baning those whoops at 40 and had that happen, it could easily have tossed you into a spruce tree, then yammie would be paying big time. I would think this could easily end up in a massive recall or at least some in depth study of that failure point to make sure it was an isolated case. Either way, you should be riding that sled Jim, not playing guinea pig for there investigation. What's there #, I'll fake lawyer all over there azz. Didn't you say you suffered a nasty finger jamming and considerable psychological trauma from this incident? lol

HEY YAMAHA - I HIT THE ROCK

Got the bad back and neck to prove it ;) As long as they are reading this thread - that Nytro is one tough SOB to come through that little impact unscathed :)

Let's get this done so when I do get back to the state - I have someone to drive me up to RE.

Greg, I think the answer is obvious considering the geographical location
of your home.

Easy Paul, we send out the dogs "if" they deny the claim. Like I said, I have
confidence that they will replace them, it's just going to take time.

Jeffro, it's still your turn to drive! ;)

Get reverse, no question. When you are talking a 600lb sled, whats another 8? Of course I may be singing a different tune by the end of the week. lol

Go up to Gould this weekend and demo one. They are an awesome boondocking sled but not a climber at all. Xtreme is putting a clutch
kit in mine, we'll see how she acts after that.

Yamaha comes through. They are replacing both shocks and both upper a-arms since they were scratched when the shocks broke. Yamaha can't
authorize Fox Floats since they are not offered on the MTX however
Xtreme offered to allow me to pay the difference to upgrade. I chose to
go with the stockers again for the price of the floats where more than I had anticipated. The stock shocks are on B/O from Yamaha therefore, they have none. Xtreme, again is going to take shocks from one of their inventory units
(sorry Greg) to put on my sled. They just need to order the a-arms. Of course that leaves Xtreme sitting on one of their inventory until they
get some shocks for it.

From the dealings I have had with Xtreme (this sled and an ATV) I couldn't
recommend a better dealer than them. What they have had to deal with while I sat and complained is beyond us. Kudos to Donavan and the whole Xtreme team.

Yamaha, though the length of time it took to decide was agonizing, came through in the end even going so far as to replace the a-arms because of a few scratches.

I do not know what the Rep. had to say about the shocks, maybe Xtreme
can shed some light on that.

Yep, Donovan is pretty cool. I spoke with him about a new XP today. I asked him all kinds of questions regarding the "issues" that folks are having. Couldn't be any worse than 2 blown motors!

Sorry to hear about all of your troubles yammer..seems like alot of people have gotten off to a rough start.

Xtreme is a fantastic shop and have always take care of me. They know you want to get in and out as fast as possible and do everything in their power to make it happen, as can be seen by this example.

When you get everything up and running you need to make a run south and ride
