*valemount~mcbride Conditions 07-08*

Captain & Marcuso - Where are you guys thinking about riding saturday? I am still debating if I should head out to Allen Creek or not this weekend but wouldnt mind if someone could show us around saturday....... There will be three of us including my buddies girlfriend who isnt that bad of a rider but obviously we arent going 'hard-core' this weekend. More of an 'Explore the area, climb a little bit and hope we dont have to spend the night in the back 40 because we got lost....'

What do you guys think conditions will be like? They are calling for rain and +10 satruday in town, so what does that usually translate into at the ride areas?
I would rather have sun +5 and slushy snow than light snow falling on frozen concrete and -1........
Not sure whether or not to pull the trigger this weekend boys.

Spring riding is spring riding.
It don't matter what the conditions are, if it is plus 10 in town, it usually is just as nice up top. There is lots and lots of snow up there, trust me.
Ronmexico, like I said, I would go to Allan, or Clemina. The areas are very well laid out for all levels..you will have a good time, it is still winter up there, with 9 pm daylight.

Capt, I am gonna ride thursday, and friday in Mcbride, gonna do oasis most likely Sat, and maybe Horsey Sunday?? We are not sure, I am gonna be staying in Mcbride, and I am not driving, so I am gonna go where they take me.. LOL:D

in town or at the hills? Raining off and on all day central alberta
Or are you in the bar drinking again with those 30 cm glasses?

New Snow

Wife went through Valemount and Blue river yesterday and said it was snowing like crazy and was 4 inches or so already!!!

Woooo.....Whoooo....Boys! Let er' snow!

We are going to trailer up Climina road saturday and maybe sunday if its good.
I got a GPS so not worried about getting lost.

I heard 8" in Hinton today, that means 3' in the high country on the other side of the divide (or that means wishfull thinking at least.......)

:beer;

Well,

Got back yesterday from Mcbride, I rode 3 days of awesome snow conditions with Alberta boy, and farmer Mike.

Lucille, had to drive up a km or so, we had the mountain to ourselves, approx, 8 inches of recent, but melting fast. Good snow, I would say riding to july for sure.
Second day we rode at another place in Mcbride, T-shirt weather, sunny skies, and incredible conditions for a stellar exploring day. Road was a little skimpy, but plenty of the white stuff up top.

Third day, we went to belle, UNREAL amounts of snow, we still drove up from the staging area, 100% snow coverage on the trail. Good snow, a little cloudy, but all in all a good day sledding to end a fantastic season!

we were up Clemina on Friday morning shooting some pics. Drove to about 6.5km then burried the truck in the last patch of snow. Rode gravel for about another 2km. About 25 degrees, rotten snow, but great spring riding. Still a 10' base on top of goat ridge.

Slides coming down everywhere, it sounded like a thunderstorm. Carefull out there this spring.

If the darn lake doesnt fill up soon, Ill be riding again

Any pics to speak of Deps?

I might try heading up to Climina 1st weekend in June. What lake are you talking about up there that fills up? I have only been to CLimina once 2 weeks ago, we unloaded at the toll booth at that time. Does this lake stop your from getting to the bowls?

Fixed those friggin pics finally
Actually, ronmexico, I think he is referring to Kinbasket Lake. It is the huge lake that is seen from the east side ofClemina.
The spring is a late one, and I even noticed that the runoff is super slow.. some creek beds that are running in the spring are still dry.
Kinbasket reservoir feeds many rivers and other reservoirs, including the arrow lakes... If there is no snowmelt. the kinbasket lake can drain fast..

Cuso is correct. I'm a fisherman at heart, and truth be told, Im not much into the spring riding thing. Toooooo expensive on parts...lol. Long story short there is no lake up there to worrry about.

I do have pics on my camera at home. I may upload a few, just mountains with hammered snow covering em.

still not much water, anyone riding this weekend ?

Me, my buddy and his girlfriend are thinking about going for a rip weekend of June.7
We have only been to Climina, no where else in the area (3 weeks ago) and I know that road will be ok for us to tailer up however we want to try a new spot that we can drive up to the snow line (or get near) easily like Climina.

Any recommendations ? We were thinking about trying somewhere in McBride

Hey there

Id imagine clemina would be your only place with access here in Valemount. We're hedin out tomorrow.

Talk to bbtoys about Mcbride

Plans changed. We are heading out tomorrow morning as well from Edmonton. See you guys up there. We will be up there around 10:30am
How far do you think we will have to trailer up?
There will be 4 of us altogether.
How hard is it to get to the Dixon Glacier? We have a girl riding with us who isnt that comfortable in the mountains. Perhaps we can tag along if its not to hard to get there......

Ryan

June 1 awesome day of riding ! Some pics are up on the snowandmud site.

Drove to 14km, then road patches until the goat ridge trail. The trail up to the ridge is boney and getting very bare. I believe we had the last ride, but be my guest.
