Turnagain Pass

with 12lbs of boost I would also work on the tranny LOL.

I ran mine last year, nothing special my best was 14.79, not to bad for a 5500lb truck.

Yeah, the 4l60 isn't gonna last long with anything over 400 horses, I had a 99 tahoe on 35's with a 6 inch lift and a whipple at 9psi with alky injection, I smoked that tranny within 2 months of putting the blower on. Green over at Quality transmission built me a bad *** tranny, that thing used to break the rear loose shifting into 2nd, it was a hard shift lol.

you guys really need a diesel...

05 f-250 6.0 c/c l/b.., donahoe lift, 35" nittos, straight pipe exhaust, sct tuner.

8800lbs on the scale...others with same truck...reporting low 14's high 13's on the race tune. ive never raced it though its pretty quick...for a 4.5 ton rig...

i walked by beer4dinner (who was doing 100)last year on the way back from eureka with just the tow tune on (70 hp/150tq)....cant do the winter in race tune (150/290)...ha ha ha

it just looks really funny with the little snow tires on this year...oh well, summer is on its way....

Yeah but he wont get stuck in the turnagain parking lot..... remember. LOL:D

LOL, I forgot about that. My truck sucked in the snow last year. This year I added some take off chevy 16" wheels with new studded tires and it made a world of difference. Looks like crap but feels safe now.

Im very aware that they are very fast and very very fast for their size however running in the 13's is probably not going to happen. Im not saying it cant happen just would take a truck fully modded and not your daily driver. A stock SS ( they are not that fast ) runs mid 14's. If you put a couple grand in them you might break the 14 sec mark. Supercharge them and you run high 13s. This truck weights about 5500 lbs and with a sc will have about 375 to the rear wheels and about 550hp total. My good friend has a 07 Dodge Mega cab and he has put about 30,000 into it. Has the best of everything including the full Edge programer and exhaust. Loudest truck I have probably heard and runs like a freaken beast ( 7'lift 35"tires ) He gets about 14mpg highway ( not pulling ) and truck runs mid 14's. Im sure there are many faster trucks than his but he has put a lot of aftermarket stuff on it and it only runs mid 14's. It would take quite a bit more for him to get into the 13's

Ya, but the Dodge's are typically slower than a Ford 6.0 or Duramax. With big mods, they can be bombed out better than anything but with the "standard" exhaust, intake, and power module, the Fords and Chevys will usually smoke them. The v8 diesels rev really quick and they have WAY better automatic trannies behind them. Hopefully Dodge's new 6 speed is an improvement.

agreed...the auto trans has always been a dodge downfall on the diesel side of the house...and on the flip side the Allison is definately the better bet...if it can take the slope abuse we put on them and over 100000 miles of it imagine how long a daily driver would last down here....ive been thouroughly impressed with the Duramax and how it holds up on the slope...we have over 400 of them and i think weve replaced 5 engines and about as many Allisons since they started buying them in 01...thats impressive for a fleet that size. we have an 08 tester up there a GMC with the new LMM Duramax...not much different than the 06 LBZ still 390 hp but im real dissapointed the way the feds are handling the immisions on diesels now...the "afterburner" set up with the exhaust particulate filter sucks..and thats the only problem we have with the 08 Chevy...ive been hearing the 6.0 twin turbo Ford isnt doing so well on the BP side (deadhorse)...we have a couple cummins we maintain also...but they dont seem to handle the torture as well with the thousands of hours of idle time our trucks rack up.

Wait a minute ak800rmk, the new ford twin turbo is a 6.4, not a 6.0. ;D haha, its all good. I ordered one up and should be here in a month or two, cant wait. Hey, i thought this was a sled forum?

So.........how's Turnagain Pass? I've been gone awhile.

The new Dodge six speed auto has been good so far, the shift points are off when towing, but with six gears it pulls great. My parents have the new 6.7 w/auto. They have put about 30k on it ,20k towing a 5th wheel. My dad says when it down shifts, it drops two gears then up one. Dodge hasn't had alot of input yet. There are alot of little recalls though.

I was there that day and I remember your truck before I met you Larry! Haha that was louder than hell, just pinning it and not going anywhere lol

i'm lovin my gasser turbo though. makes a half ton pretty quick and still a soft ride. i didn't realize that thread jack would go so far... my bad. LoL. guess we gotta start talking trucks when the weather isn't good.

i always say just take it to the track to avoid the 'blah balh my chevy will out tow your ford and dodge blah blah'. funny chit..

**end thread jack**

anyone been to turnagain lately?

Yeah im happy with the 04 Avalanche...great truck and it rides like a Cadillac!!! Itll pull my 22 foot Reinell Boat up the pass at 70!!
They did take it to the track on Trucks i think it was on the outdoor chanel...there was a 3/4 ton 06 Duramax Banks...(the Ford and Dodge were highly modded too) they did a tractor pull and the ford and chevy were the only ones to do a full pull, although the Chevy twisted a driveline in half the second pull and still came in second to the Ford in overall pull leingth of the two pulls..and the ford was a lifted 1 ton duelly!!! Not too shabby for a 3/4 ton. It was a good show...but the Duramax spanked them both in the 1/4 mile pulling a Dozer on a flat bed trailer!!

Any way back to the Snow....my buddy drove through turny said it looked wind blown....so i think P-ville is the place for me tomrrow...not to thrilled to ride flat land hopefully the hills are nice!!

Trucks

You need to see an episode of trucks on spike. If you've seen this episode you know what I'm takling about, I caught the last 2 mins of it. From what I saw they had a dodge 2500 cummins and a silverado 2500 duramax totally tricked out with edge performance chips w/propane and more. Ineed to find that episode online. I also saw them racing a vet on the drag. The dyno was maxed out with the dodge at like 1200 hp and 1400 lbs-ft.

Any of the big 3 diesels making 1200 hp are going to make closer to 1600-2000 lbs-ft..regardless, serious power right there

just for the record...ive seen timeslips...but that wont tell you what they got into the motor..etc...like i said.. i read high 13's low 14's...havent seen it for myself...i just know even with the 35's, in race tune...its quick...real quick...hell, in stock form i hit the speed limiter at 98 goin up turny towin my 25ft camper...got hot though...he he he

my old dmax was quick, when the tranny (allison) didnt go into limp mode....

i have yet to race a modded dodge...

perfect truck...chevy interior, ford exterior, cummins engine...

Im no bowtie fan but their new engines stock are running low 15's, and yes there are slips to prove it. With tuners they are seeing low 14's, and thats just a tuner,no filters, exhaust, injectors nothin, and yes there are slips for that too. I guess this relates to riding since they pull our sleds......;)
