Anyone had a stock turbo rebuilt? My Gen 4 started throwing P3004 codes intermittently and then started to pull down in RPM (-1000) under long (more than 5 second) pulls. Happened right after loading Maptun stage 2 so thought it was a boost leak on intake side. Pulled intake to turbo and found bearings bad, no damage to wheels, just very growly bearings which are not good for quick spooling, LOL. Oil feed seemed ok. Put another turbo on and bled it and will run it again this weekend but wondering if it is able to be sent out to get bearings replaced and rebalanced. Any custom wheels out there for upgrade?

I've not had a factory turbo apart. Is it a journal bearing or ball bearing turbo?
I've rebuild journal bearing turbos in my garage before, no problem. Didn't need rebalancing.

I think it was Redline Performance that was teasing this summer about a possible factory turbo mod.
They were boring out the factory compressor housing for a slightly bigger compressor wheel for guys running elevated boost levels. Bringing the turbo back into the efficient part of the map profile.

Ball bearing turbo, would require a new cartridge if similar to Garrett. Have rebuilt them myself before but need to know where to source the cartridge. Only available as an assembly from Doo.
