Turbo Apex Project Question

I have a 06 rear mount Apex - 260 kit. I moved the turbo ahead somewhat in the same position as the Nytro for this season.
My concern or question is if someone could tell me if i will need to be concerned of runnning to lean? I shortened it i would say over twelve inches, made my exhaust dump in my tunnel. There again as the Nytro with a tunnel dump. Will i need a reflash?
Has anyone run this set up yet and had any postive or negitive results?
I am hours away from completing the project other that my seat is coming from Murray at "Mountain Mod". I made a custom prototype seat base and sent it to Murray for his expertise!!I cant wait to see it. If i know him it will be one of the finest!!

Ryan,

it shouldt change anything that crazy.. i would say, put an air fuel gauge on it and run it just to check, but just moving the turbo around isnt really gonna change things a lot.. the reshapped header/charge tube might a hair, but the only way to find out how it responds is with a gauge.

The Apex is pretty forgiving, shouldn't change anything. You could play with your CO's to dial in your bottom end response. Moving the turbo closer should improve the way your sled runs, less lag.

Run a air/fuel and see what it does. If you have a display you can move the boost pressure around where the secondary injectors come on I believe. TBird will know for sure. The display would be the way to go to build a map for sure. I thought you guys had that all figured out lol !

Just Asking - Ha Ha!!

I thought someone would be on tonight. I am running out of threads to read. Thanks guys, and yes i will run a A/F just to see.
With all the time we spend on these things,i know we should have this figured out? - always changing chite just because we can.
I have been tweaking and wrenching in Thistles garage now for six weeks. You should see the "Yami" projects we got going - WOW !!

Ryan,

Share some pics!! Sounds like alot of guy's are working on some cool projects for this year....

BC.

Why not setup the fuel system like the new mcx apex kits, they moved there turbo ahead in the lastest kits. There isnt anybody with more experince then mcx. It would be a starting point.

By moving the turbo closer to the engine didn't force me to change the fuelmap, but removing the muffler, or install a less restrictive one is a whole diffrent story, if you have a straight pipe i would say it is going to run a little lean, the only way to know for sure is to install an AFR, i wouldn't run without one.

Ryan,

thats' an understatement. Looks like a nascar garage in there with all the sleds and parts. Kind of a cool thing to walk into.

Sounds Nice!!

I fried it up this afternoon and seems to run real nice.Seems to have quicker throttle response just waking the throttle on the hoist. Spent about seven hours today so all i need is snow to take it for a rip. I will get some pictures uo soon as i get them all gathered and sorted.
Hey Nuckles i was there till Ten O'clock tonight - where were you?
Shawn - rip your A/F off i need to borrow it for one ride. I will send you mine to figure out. Damn thing is to complicated.
Ryan

Thanks

Hey shawn - please post some pics if you would? I sent you 10 or 15 today.

turbo apex

just boght o7 attac gt mcx rear mount 162 track has stock23/38 gears are these gears too tall for mountains? stock apex 20/40 can any body help a bro out?

Gearing

20/42 is a good combo largest bottom gear that will fit and keeps the top gear at stock. Less stress on the unit. IMO

Seat looks good, will Murray make any type of seat? I have his turbo seat for a RX1, now its going have a rev tank now. You can get a 43 bottom in a yami case, I know cause I have 1. MPI was selling them yrs ago, its not R type thou.

Cant beleive I missed this thread...Murray wont do any type of seat but we think there maybe a market for this seat so we proto typed it for him.....it should be done soon. Scott I'm sure he has done a rev seat for the yamaha application. Thought he did one or 2 for randy at one time....give him a call.
