Trinity mountains

You better bury your sled on the trail. It's no where near enough to be off trailing, in the trinities. Unless you like breaking suspension parts.

I hear ya Wade, I had someone else tell me the exact same thing today actually :) I just moved to Idaho from Alaska and this will be my first winter. I work with a bunch of guys that ride up there and I got a good lay of the land during deer/elk season. At least what mountains are what so i have a general bearing, I just need an excuse to go back to the Y-stop in Prairie for a good breakfast. ;)

Trinities road ride

Is there enough up there for a road ride?
Can you get past prairie to the snow or do you go in featherville early season?

Top of Wagontown loop had about 13 or so inches on it as of yesterday afternoon. After this next system your road ride should be nice and secure.

I just finnished my wife's edge new crank and pistons''Thanks 76fomoco'' installed it last night now all I need is a nice granny road ride to-lay everything in nice and proper :beer;:beer;

My rule of thumb is simple, 36 to 40 inches at the snotel site, and your fairly safe to ride off trail, if you know where the rocks are. Assuming, it doesn't all come at once.

You guys remember that storm we got 4 weeks ago, that dumped 3 feet? Did that snow stay everywhere, or just down at the snotel site, in the shade? It never got below 10 inches. It will make a great base, if it stayed, the way it appeared to.

I was up around there last week burning landing piles and it was real patchy. That snotel site is acurate there in the shade but overall not a good base just yet. IMO. I work for the Boise N.F and we should be in there again sometime this week and hopefully I'll have some better news to report. Unless someone gets up there before me.

Kicking around the idea of going up tomorrow for a road ride... Waste of time?? Sounds as though there may not even be enough to road ride. Can you get a 4 Place far enough up to drop the sleds and still have room to spin it? Anyone else want to go?

Based on temps past couple days the snow shoulda held up good enough for a road ride. As far as the four place, depends on the mule pulling the wagon:eek:. With good tires maybe get to the big turnout towards top of wagontown loop.

After some discussion w/ FOMOCO
Sacco and I decided to wait. I'm that hard core but Sacco's Vagaaaajay is sore :) and FOMOCO apparently is getting a suntan in Wyoming or something:eek:

I'll tell ya what, Too bad that October snow didn't stay. I went up to get our lookout person off the tower on Trinity and that early stuff was shaping up to be some good base. Oh Well a pipe dream I guess. Still got a ride in October though!:D even though it was a government sled. and it said polaris on the side.

Trinities road ride

Trinity faithful...
I have rode the trinities a bit.
We either unload at trinity creek and 12 miles of trail to warming hut but low elevation start.
or Prairie when the road permits usually in the spring ride the trails up there but still a low start.
Where can I drive to this time of year and get a start in snow.?
25 in snowtel vs 15 secesh summit.
I know it is early for off trail I am looking for breakin miles.

No wonder it's been so quite on here, everyone jumped to another website.

Sorry Fella's! We haven't made it to that side of the mountains yet this week we've been staying on the Prairie side of things down Long gulch on a project that was only supposed to take a day , but turns out we"ll be lucky to finish it this week at all. Wish I coulda been more helpful on the snow report.
