tired of getting beat

:confused: ok, so i had a 03 900 MC, and was getting seriously beat by a 03 Poo 800 RMK with full slp setup. Now i have a 07 M1000, stock engine, but 162 PC track, and i still get beat by it. riders r similar weight...etc. Whats going on? i thought i would spank him...whats going on? im tired of getting beat :mad:

Wow, are you sure he hasn't got a turbo he's not telling you about.I used to spank them with m T-cat. With my m1000 it's no contest. You will get more serious power when you add an slp set-up. Notice I said when? A Powerclaw track is suppost to make a hell of a difference also. I would like to see a powerclaw perform before I spend $1000.00 to change over.
Compare your machine to a similar machine, maybe you got some bugs to clean out. Your machine got lots of miles or is it brand new?:beer;

Check out what kind of track the Poo is running. I have seen what a 03 800 RMK can do with the 05 or 06 2.52 pitch 159"X 2.4 series IV track.
They will beat most new sleds in the steep and deep. It surprises a lot of people.

I am presently doing that mod to my 03 800 RMK.

no its my bros sled and hes not running a turbo :cool: he has the stock rmk 159 track, just a full slp exhaust kit and slp intake. what kind of clutching setup r u guys doing for you M1K? i know i shouldnt b getting beat with that sled. I just bought my sled a couple days ago so i have no idea what the clutching is.

with a stock 1000, dont let the RPMs rev over 7200, the 1000's fall hard on their face when running higher, simply throw the weight at the primary to pull the revs down, trust me that 800 wont hang with you then.

Is he beating you off line up to 60. or walking away on the top end?

You don't have alot of top end speed with the M1000.

If he is beating you off the line then you need to run a steeper helix. If it is stock it probably has a straight 36. Not a great drag race helix. You need to run a 40 or even a 44 for drag racing. But then you will loose out on the steep and deep when needing the back shifting.

My suggestion would be to run an slp 36-40 progressive helix with a D&D shift assist. Then run a bit stiffer finish rate primary spring. Then see what happens.

hmmm ok...im revving around 7500 rpm according to the cat rpm gauge...but im running 80 grams already. We never ran past 50 mph, but i noticed it doesnt like being run fast. personally i dont care about winning drags....i wanna kick butt in the steep n deep :)

So was he beating you in a drag race or climbing? I put a powerclaw on my 08 M1000 last spring thinking it would give me the edge when climbing against my brothers 08 M1000 snopro, sorry to say that i could not touch him :eek:. I think i traced the problem to a worn out belt and very low air pressure in my rear shock but we will see this year. My sled always seemed a little faster as far a drag racing goes, both sleds are stock other than MBRP cans and mine has the Powerclaw. Try cleaning the clutches, a belt swap and break the belt in gently for about 30 miles. I was also told by a highly respected engine builder here in Alberta that the stock M1000s like an extra gram of weight and the 046 belt, the 060 with Kevlar get sticky when hot.:beer;

ive got both the machines on the trailer right now

you better take that m apart and find out what is going on clutches,suspension lots of info on here that poo even good running if thats all its got will not beat that sled. waite a minute maybe its you switch riders

You must be running the 046 belt

Get a can and a Y put an 060 belt on and the power claw story over.

it was about a 250 foot drag on flat with about 1.5 feet of powder....havent been up on the hills yet with it. And it has a 162 powerclaw track. ok, will have to look at the belt # and the clutching, but i have no idea about anything that has to do with clutching really, except that adding wieghts on the primary brings down rpm.....the secondary is a mystery to me :cool:

it is not the sno pro, but has a fox shock in the back..will look at it first chance...yeah we switched riders and came up with the exact same results. like totally the same, so its something with my sled. It did seem that the powerclaw had a lot of spin-i was thinking maybe it need more snow to truly shine? i think if we had a trail with traction i would take him....

7500! too high! I have owned three 1000's and always through weight at them out of the box I have added weight to the primary to get the revs from 7000-7200 it loves it there!
at 7500 rpm you probably are running less HP and torque than the 800's! power drops off hard after 7200 rpm
on all my 1000's I would run a can and a Y-pipe only no fuel controller ever, I would run them anywhere from 2000ft to 8000ft like that
the 1000 has only one disadvantage and most of the time its the setup, she is very finiky about the RPM's
give it a try!

Hate to say it but 250 ft is not what i would call a race. You are probably spinning way too much. I have an 06 m7 that hangs with our M1000s for a hundred feet or more until the 1000s really start to hook up, then its game over for the M7.

ok, but thats going by the gauge...iv heard those cat rpm gauges r 200-300 rpm off...should i still go by that and set it to 7200 rpm?

ya i know thats not really much of a race, but i thought it should b better than that...maybe i was wrong. thats y i want to try them out in the steep and deep :cool:

Not trying to highjack the thread but how much extra weight were you adding? I actually just bought the Dalton adjustable clutch weights and will be installing them in a couple days. Stock weight is 80 grams and 81 was recommended to me by a respected engine builder. Just curious since i ride the same type of elevations and my sled also has an intake, Y pipe, can and shaved head. Thanks.

the problem is that the older poos had quite a bit of weight transfer so they dont seem to spin as much, the m especially the 07-09 didnt transfer really well and had a tendency to spin expecially in a drag race they were designed to keep the front down when climbing the is the geo mod and it helped a bunch, I have an o7 and my wifes m6 would take it off the line and I was getting P!SS&d it seems in a drag race the older sleds always hooks up off the line better do the geo mod and kill him in the steep and deep and drop the rpms like they said I like 7100 and it pulls better try the weights for the next alt. on the weight chart. it seems like the 6-8000 always pulls better at higher alt even on the 800s
