Tiger Woods - Shutting it down for year with broken leg and torn knee ligament

Johnny Miller is a prick. He bought one of the golf courses we play at on Sunday, and is turning it into a private club, and closing it on Sunday's. I hope it goes under now.

This is more the average pro golfer than Tiger. Tiger is an athlete in a game where out of shape guys are the norm.

He is not the average golfer, watch a PGA tour event for a 1/2 hour and I'll bet you $20 you will see more thin or average weight guys than you will heavy or fat guys. This bet is open to anybody.

I agree with redlineguy, look at John Daly, he' not excactly a finely tuned athlete and he does pretty well at hitting the @#$%^ ball!

I knew someone would bring up John Daly. He is not even a contender on the PGA Tour anymore. He is nothing more than a has-been golfer that is now a full time drunk. He's been DQ'ed from several tournaments because he got plastered the night before and missed his tee time. He is a drunk that likes to play golf once and a while. Even when he does make his tee time he isn't even in the running.

Go find another "average fat golfer". They're all over aren't they?

Funny how you left out my comment about the Chicken Dance on 18....

As for watching the whole tourny, you really must have some kind of life. Here's your hero cookie....

I didn't think it was relevant so I left it out. His knee does not hurt when walking or running. It only hurts when his knee twists or torques on the downswing, you guys can't seem to understand that. With your left foot planted on the ground, turn your whole body to the left until your belt buckle faces 90* left and at the same time lock your left knee stiff and then have all of your weight on that knee and you still won't have as much pressure put on your knee as Tiger does. It's a critical part of his golf swing, if you would watch it in slow motion you would see why his knee is messed up, it's what gives him alot of power but it's the same thing that's ruining his knee.

As far as watching the whole tournament goes, I admit golf is boring to watch.

I say Nascar is boring as hell too. Most of you guys won't agree with that, why? Because you like Nascar so that makes it exciting. Just because you like Nascar it's exciting and because you don't like golf it's not exciting, there's some logic. Some of you guys are using information like the global warming camp, only giving a small part of the story.

I don't like Nascar either. Any sport where a 50+ year old can win is not a very tough sport IMO. Pluse it is not real raceing, To many rules, if you win to much they make you change your car and crap like that. Arnt thay all in the same car now also??

shortstop20; You'll never EVER hear me say anything negative about Tiger Woods' abilities. The guy is a complete freak. There will never ever be a better golfer to set foot on a course. (I've already said that in this thread) People are taking this completely the wrong way. First of all, no one forced Tiger to play the Open. He was there completely on his own free will. Against medical professional's orders, we now find out, so I don't feel sorry for him one bit. The whole point is the limp show after some of the tee shots. If it hurts so damn bad, which I don't doubt it does, either don't play the tourney, or drop out.

As for watching the whole thing, I was hungover to the nines on Sunday, so I watched most of it, and watched the Monday playoff on tsn.ca's stream, at work. I caught the highlites from earlier in the week whenever I could. I'm not trying to be a smartass, just my take on it.

Wow, it's obvious you don't watch Tiger or many of today's golfers. He trains more than many pro athletes.

This fat azz (w/ goofy pants):

What if man.............and I do mean................what if..............he just cocked his right hand about 10* to the right  and sliced one into the crowd...hilarious....

sorry, out of this whole rediculous thread this is all I got.

As for golf, I put a golf ball launcher on my AR and blast golf balls past the greens on Par 5's :), and plant the ball 5" into the dirt on Par 3's. And killed my brothers antelope last season with it

Golf is an easy game :D NOT!!!!

Athletes can be described in many ways. I would consider Jenna Jameson an athlete  honestly....

I don't feel sorry for him either, it's not my intention to make anyone feel sorry for him. I don't think he's expecting anyone to feel sorry for him either. He never complained about the knee all weekend, he never mentioned it unless someone else mentioned it first or asked him about it. He can't help the wince when his knee hurts, everybody makes a face when something hurts. I see no reason why he should've dropped out of the tournament. If he wants to keep playing in the tournament that's fine, it's his body. I don't see why he should drop out of the tournament because he made a wince when his knee hurt(which was only every 3-4 shots, 90% of them being off the tee). Most people would drop out if they were in that kind of pain but not when you are as competitive as Tiger is.

One day after the U.S. Open was over Tiger revealed to the media that his doctor told him 2-3 weeks before the U.S. Open that he should be on crutches and should not play in the tournament. Tiger said to his doctor "I'm going to play in the U.S. Open and I'm going to win." He has said on TV many times that he expects to win every time he plays. It's not in his personality to quit. He would never quit after starting the tournament. He said he didn't want to disappoint the fans that came to see him.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding your post but I get the idea that you think he was being a little bit of a drama queen and there for the attention, if so, I can assure you that's not the case.

The media made it a way bigger deal than it had to be, they used it as propaganda to get ratings.

The guy was doing what he loves.
Hell, I had knee surgery and was walking without crutches the day after, in fact it didn't hurt until the doctor unwrapped it 2 days later and I saw the grapefruit size swelling (which did put me back on the crutches). A week and a half later the stiches came out, and that very day I was in the lake behind my wake boat ready for a pull.
My point is, I was doing what I loved regardless of what anybody says. If any of you guys had knee/shoulder/elbow surgery last week, and woke up tomorrow morning to 2' of fresh I'd put money down that every one of you Monkey's would be out trying to pull that trailer out of the yard before your Wife climbs out of bed and knocks some sence into you. We do what we love, and Tigers no different. Now he's hurt with fractures and has no choice but to let it heal. He wasn't faking his pain for the media, he hurt, but the fool wanted that cup and won it.
And to say that he isn't an athlete is rediculous. 4 days of 4 hour rounds of intense concentration, long game, short game, putting. You guys do play the game, right???

what about man-boobs mickelson. although he is in a bit better shape these days.

Being out of shape or fat does not equate to not being athletic.

Come one, really.

There are PLENTY of people in this world who are fat or out of shape and are VERY athletic. Look at Chris Farley, that dude was VERY athletic. He was a good rugby player are Marquette. Did you ever see him do cartwheels? Did you ever see that boy dance? He was athletic.
