THUNDER MOUNTAIN LODGE SNOW REPORT

Another 10" since 8 this morning. Very wet and heavy had to break out the big iron to move it. Did I mention I love my Pisten Bully! Puts us over 40" since friday. Oh, and it is still snowing like crazy. Wind has been unreal all day. There has to be some huge cornices building up out there.

I would like it white for christmas. Might as well gone to Belize for vacation, or maybe atleast a live webcam would saffice at the lodge so I can dream while at work and know that there really is snow in colorado.

Tues. am, another 12" overnight. Total since Friday is 56" at the lodge and it is still snowing. This is unreal!

What's the base like Mark? Is that 56" straight to the dirt or 56" on top of a nice firm 3-4'?

today

snotel says 8 inches of water since Saturday!! not too shabby..

my guess 60-80" of heavy snow has fallen in the last 4 days...on a base ave of 30-40"..good news is the wind loading looked minimal and the snow was spread very evenly everywhere...so where it fell, it stayed :face-icon-small-coo

..so the snowpack in the trees can be as deep as 6-8ft on ave....the meadows are half that. The season is 100% underway!!

We had about a 3-4' base in the trees prior to this storm. Lands End was pretty bare and windblown with not much base. As of 5 tonight we have gotten 64" since friday. I am burning through the diesel. Lots of snow everywhere up here now.

I got plenty of responsibility that keeps me off the mountain.

That's why I enjoy sneaking off to Thunder Mountain Lodge where I can escape from it all.

How about a morning update!

And geez...would it kill ya to post a pic or two Mark?

GeeWizz must be rough, just sneak off to 10000 feet and endless POW to play in. I think would much rather be working, NOT!!! You guys suck that live out there, I remember when I used to get excited for 4-6" of snow around here, not anymore after getting hooked on this mountain riding a few years back, thanks to Shortbus and Yours truely CANNONMAN!!! be there in 2 weeks hope there is still snow????HAHA

great to hear that the snow is falling. i was up a coiuple weeks ago and it was not that great. i was hoping that the noaa would be right with the storm we need the snow! thanks guys for the updates on the snow!

Ya...Dizzle, your wife got an extremely hot younger sibling by any chance;)

Just curious is all...:face-icon-small-coo

LOL. You have a young hottie yourself and money to burn.

Dizz does have a tough job. Being a full time Dad is harder than work but way more rewarding. Fortunately for him, his wife doesn't nag him to death every weekend he heads out. Or at least I think so, cuz he rides every weekend.

I'll be doing that soon, but I'm over worrying if it'll make her mad. HA HA!
