THINKING TAMPICO, ANYONE ELSE?

THE SYSTEM COULD ALSO GENERATE SIGNIFICANT SNOWS ACROSS THE OLYMPICS
AND CASCADES AT AND BELOW PASS LEVEL. WARM AIR IN ADVANCE OF THE
STORM WOULD RAISE SNOW LEVELS TO NEAR 4500 FEET WEDNESDAY
NIGHT...HOWEVER THEY WOULD QUICKLY FALL TO 2000 FEET THURSDAY WITH A
FOOT OR TWO OF SNOW POSSIBLE DURING THE DAY THURSDAY

BLOWING SNOW

The snow was blowing into my house from Tampico this morning. F***ing wind blew over my portable carport...should be alot of drifts to plow tomorrow. Looks like a break in the storm tomorrow.:bounce:

The snotel site at green lake is showing 5-6 in. of new snow. im not going to take a day off work for that.

green lake snotel

i dont know where its at but that thing reads funny we come in from the 1000 and theres always way more snow than that thing says i go off of the top one on white pass for superbowl and angel point area were going up tonight should be good

The green lake snotel is at 6,000 ft. and its east of blue lake and you can usually double that amount for Darland but in late spring what green lake has is usually real close to whats up top. White pass usually gets twice as much as darland this late in the year. but that does not seem to be the case this year. Im going up to white pass tomorrow. i hope to get ride the snow you rode in today.

Decided to go up tampico yesterday.... it was deep once you got off the beaten path:eek::eek::D:D

About a dozen rigs were parked at the snow park, but the first 2 miles up was mainly all gravel, we opted to drive a little ways and parked at about 2-1/2 miles up the middle fork where about 8 other rigs had parked. Making it to Whites Ridge would be pushing it unless you got some good rubber on your 4 wheel drive, but there were about 8 rigs that made it up there. Snow cover on the road was solid from about the 2 mile marker. Whites ridge to eagles nest is getting pretty bumpy

decent snow up high tho:D:D

Red Saddle-Saturday, 04/11/10

:face-icon-small-coo We (lots of Ski-Benders) rode Red saddle yesterday; Road going up was spotty for first 2 miles, then good. Rode over the top into the upper S fork drainage, west into logged areas, then down into Klickitat to the Diamond Lake hills. Decent fresh snow above 5500 ft, pretty hard down low. Snow depth is still good, trailer-ing to it will be the problem. Overall, it was a good day, lots of miles and boondocking, always finding new areas. My son, Beau also didn't auger in to hard today, so we kept the damages down to a "1 ski/side panel season" (snodawg and summitRMK, we found the lost panel last week). Bad news was it was 60 deg here today, I can imagine these bare areas are going to really start to enlarge.

Tampico

I went up today. I drove almost all the way up to Whites Ridge rd in 2
wheel drive, I put it in 4 wheel drive right before Whites Ridge rd. I had 2 sleds on my sled deck. There were about 10 trucks with trailers up there. I loaded back up at 7pm and i had to use 4 wheel drive to go down middle fork.
It was very slushy and rough.

anybody go up this weekend? If so, what are the conditions like? green lake snotel has less and less snow every day....:hurt:

All I have to say is "What a difference a week makes"

Spring riding is now in full effect... coverage is still good from tree phones up, but getting thinner fast... mashed potatoes made the climbing fun, power robbing, but not bad... here's the kicker tho... a dozen jeepers made it all the way up the middle fork to the top of the super bowl... made some nice deep ruts on the hill between tree phones and eagles nest... so be aware....:(

If this weather keeps up, its gonna hurt the snowpack FAST... but there is still snow from the Whites Ridge parking lot on up.. I was dragging my differentials in a few places as the ruts were about 10" deep in a couple spots, but I made it all the way up no problem and only saw 4 or 6 sleds all day long, the place was pretty much deserted as far as sledders go.....

Moguls on the trail are getting pretty bad... so unless your willing to take a beating for a few miles before you jump off the trail, Tampico is looking to be about done... we'll still be going a few more times tho... :D

Good packing snow tho... When I hiked down the hill to help my buddy, I kicked a snowball that mounded up and turned itnow what looked like a wagon wheel 3-4 ft tall before it finally broke apart... and there were quite a few of those happening throughout the day on the climbs...

I went up today May 1st i have never ridden in May before. I unloaded on middle fork at the 5mi marker about a mile farther than everyone else unloaded if i would have chained up i probably could have made it to Treephones. It snowed real light for the first half of the day it was kinda cold and foggy up top. it was a good May ride. If it stays this warm you should be able to drive up to Treephones next weekend.

Nice!

we parked the lowest of the sled rigs at about the 4 mile mark (also the only rig with a trailer). We played on the hills between tree phones and eagles nest, then headed up to the Super Bowl (socked in with wind and snow) and tore it up... first tracks, lol..... then went over to blue slide... managed to log 47 miles on today... snow wasn't great, but was a fun day:face-icon-small-hap

Another Good Day at Tampico

I got 15 pics from today......AWESOME ride for May 15th!!!

Glad to see we're not the only sledders still going, haha:D
