Thinking of doing some work on my M7 soon.

I am thinking of doing some work on my 2005 arctic cat m7 153 efi. Basically what i want to do this season is, new exhaust and a new look on the outside. So with out getting too expensive what are some really good cans for a nice sound? I want to avoid puttin an efi box controller on, so i want to do as much as i can do the exhaust w/ out going that far. Any good tips on how to achieve this?
Also any one know of any good websites for cheap decal kits? I would really like to change the look. Are there any places in minnesota that do decals for reasonable price?

Any help will be appreciated. thanks.

arcticfxgraphics.com is an awesome website for graphics. Jordan does super work and IMO his prices are very reasonable.

For a shop in MN Blown Concepts does some pretty sweet stuff too. I think its more $$$ though.

I wouldn't worry about needing a fuel controller. You can do a single pipe/can without any issues on most 700's. Do a few plug checks to see how rich yours is, some are very rich. If yours is rich, look into getting a fuel reducer. I'm a fan of adding a bit of timing to the 700's also.

if you get the new SLP full pipe setup i dont think you will need a box...

any full pipe other then stock u will need a control box about all the exhaust work that u can do is a can. i will recomond that u dont go with MBRP they are very loud. i really like my HPS can has a good deep tone but it not that loud.

No, you DO NOT need a controller with single pipes on the 700's. I have thousands of miles on a number of 700's with y-pipe, pipe, can, timing, fuel reducer with zero issues.

Chris.

My buddy i ride with put a D&D y pipe, speedwerx single and can, timbersled intake, 1.5deg. timing key, and a speedwerx 15-1 head, and we turned the oil pump down 4 turns from stock, sled has over 3,000 miles on it with this setup and NO FUEL CONTROLLER. He just bought a D&D900 for it so some parts may be for sale. This was on an 05 he bought new.... And we only ride 6,000 plus

RKT told me that if I was to add a single pipe with my 14:1 head that a fuel controller would be needed. A fuel controller is not needed if you are running a stock head and a pipe. But if you twin pipe or run with an aftermarket head a boonie box would be something you'd need.

Like Bluebear said, you can run a single pipe and can on your M and be just fine. I ran my 03 F7 with BMP modded stock pipe and 3 different cans over the years WITHOUT any fuel control, literally thousands of miles. And the 03's were LEAN from the factory, way leaner than your 06.

I ran my 06 M7 for 2 years now with BMP stock pipe mod and 2 different cans, NO FUEL MANAGEMENT. You can run a single and a can on the laydown 700 and be just fine.

EDIT: do some searching, I've read quite a few posts where guys were running the speedwerx single and RKT head without fuel management on the 06 M7s.

hi
what ever exhaust you run you should check the plugs just to make sure you not running lean

i use to run a modded stock pipe with a super Q can for a long time no problems but some of the m7's run lean

rk says you can run his m8 kit with out a box but no other mods if you do you may need a box

My setup on the 06 M7 EFI was

-D&D Power Lite Pipe
-D&D Y-pipe
-Skinz Ultra Q silencer
-10.4 Secondary (Ti) Spring
-Rock Rollers
-Shift Assist

This setup ripped, no fuel controller, ran a touch hot, but no issues for a season and a half of riding. I believe the 05's were even a bit richer than the 06's so this setup will run a bit better I bet.

I ride in Michigan's Yoop, 0-3000 feet

John

I would do the RKT porting with a speedwerx single pipe. I heard RKT's porting rips on those things.

Yep, that's what i'm going to be runnin this year. 06 M7, RKT 8 bigbore w/ billet head (low and high comp domes for the 2 elevations I ride) stock pipe, skinz super q can....no fuel control. Next year will run the speedwerx pipe and BD box.

Agree you should check plugs to see if you're lean, at a minimum spend the money and get a BMP fuel pressure regulator so you can check your fuel pressure. Some of the Ms have crazy low fuel pressure. On the RKT 8, I've spoken with Kelsey at length several times about the motor, basically as long as you're not stupid low on fuel pressure from the factory (~38psi) you're good with the 8 bigbore on the stock pipe. I'm sitting at 43-44psi on mine.

I have a MBRP can on my m7. To me it just sounds right. Not to where you need ear plugs and not stock sounding. I dont get any bogs cause of my can. I have heard some guys saying some cans cause bogs on these m7s .......

If i were you i would just by a can of your choice. MBRP (lol) Get your decals and save the rest of your money for Gas and oil.

Here is a video so you can here what they sound like.Maybe its loud but i dont think so. You can only here the the echo 2 valleys away LOL.Dont worry i said a prayer for the few trees i went over top.

AWESOME! thanks guys! :face-icon-small-hap this helped alot! i'm looking at MBRP or JAWZ for a can. depends on how prices compare. lol but i should have a kick a$$ sound by the time the snow flies either way. lol ;)

I got SLP twin pipe set up and was strongly suggested by a couple shops and this forum to add the Boondocker box.
Also, I should add that the sled will probably run fine without control box, but to maximize the power of twin pipes and a can, you should run a control box.

Good luck with those twins. I had them and you couldn't pay me to put them back on. I don't see how they would work without a fuel controller even though some companies claim they will.

^^ I'm with you. Not sure how you can run twins without any kind of fuel delivery modification. You need more fuel for the twins. Keep it simple and just ride...go with a single.

I second all this info. Since you're in Minnesota, elevation won't affect your fuel to air too bad, although, somewhere down the line if you want to really maximize the use of your pipe/can then a control box should be added. Speedwerx makes a good single and y pipe design.
